I know it seems like that but I really don't mind! It's like if people slag off Newcastle, ya can't help but defend them but music is different because people have totally different opinions and that's fine. But lets stop the shite eh... they're mint!

I agree. Downloaded the album, listened to it a few times. Not impressed. 193965 Good news actually... I like it when old people don't like the music that I do.

Arctic Monkeys win 2006 Mercury Music Prize Their debut scoops album of the year award Arctic Monkeys debut album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' has won this year's Nationwide Mercury Music Prize at a ceremony in London tonight (September 5). The band picked up the £20,000 prize from presenter Jools Holland at the bash at the Grosvenor House hotel. Commenting on the win, Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner said: "Somebody call 999, Richard Hawley's been robbed!" in reference to the also-nominated singer-songewriter who also hails from the band's native Yorkshire city of Sheffield. Turner added: "Thanks to everyone that's helped us. "Normally it (the award) doesn't go to a band that's sold so many records, to be blunt." This year's full nominations were: Arctic Monkeys - 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not' Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan - 'Ballad Of The Broken Seas' Editors - 'The Back Room' Guillemots - 'Through The Windowpane' Richard Hawley - 'Coles Corner' Hot Chip - 'The Warning' Muse - 'Black Holes & Revelations' Zoe Rahman - 'Melting Pot' Lou Rhodes - 'Beloved One' Scritti Politti - 'White Bread Black Beer' Sway - 'This Is My Demo' Thom Yorke - 'The Eraser' Last year's prize was won by Antony & the Johnsons for the album 'I Am A Bird Now'. And rightly so imo.

Did he shite. Hes a poor mans jenas , sits in the middle, gets the ball, passes it 15 yards. Doesnt win you games. He didnt run at people, didnt tackle, never headed the ball. Everything he got slated for at Newcastle. He was one of their poorest players IMO and a terrible choice to bring on when you are a man up and looking for the win. I thought he was one of the main reasons we managed to get to penalties! 155448 Are you suggesting Jenas has ever passed a ball more than 15 yards? If you are, please shut up.

I agree with the 5-4, fantastic game of football, but my memory of the Cup final was that they did fuck all for 85 odd minutes, should have been beaten soundly, should have had a blatant penalty against them, and them Owen nipped in for 2 quick goals, without any decent football being played. I'm having trouble remembering the 2-2, which makes me look like a closet red. 127324 They went 1-0 up, Haman I think, then Bobby brought on Robert & Bellamy for their first appearences of the season, we went 2-0 down (Owen penalty) and then a Robert-Bellamy inspired fightback saw us level with goals from Speed and Shearer. 127328 And another 2-2 draw we had with them at home in SBR first season, when Owen scored 2 I think. Maybe I think positive because our defence was so shite and made the games high scoring?
-
Some would argue that has fuck all to do with Houllier. I'm gob-smacked you didn't see a boring Liverpool team, I watch a lot of them and to be honest his tactics completely bypassed a decent midfield most of the time. 127316 Aye they were a bit long ball-ish at times but always think of that 5-4 UEFA Cup win and the Michael Owen cup final win.... And a 2-2 draw we had with them that was an all round cracking game of football.
-
Aye, clearly not good enough for us....... Shite! Would love him here! 127305 Houllier's Liverpool were the most boring team I'd ever seen, until Souness. Is it too much to ask for exciting football and a cup? 127308 Well whenever I seen them play when Houllier was in charge I thought they were decent enough... Look at Lyon now, hardly a boring team.

I dont think any of us were thinking of actually paying the 50 notes like. 115294 You don't say!! Has no-one got the technology to print of some dodhy notes? I used to go out with a lass from Gateshead whose brother produced fake fivers and used them at the local garage for tabs. Quality specimens they were, I used a few in FYEO a few years back, silly strippers didn't have a clue! 115353 It just gets better!
