That really does sound like a ridiculous decision. Getting through a couple of Champions League qualifying rounds is no mean feat in the current set up and 4 points from 6 in the league sounds perfectly reasonable. Seems like we're not the only club with an idiot chairman!

No but with the exception of Barton it probably wouldn't have been a very good idea. With Ashley at the helm he probably would have sold the players and then not been able to get any replacements in, let alone better replacements. Then where would we be??

Yeah something like that, I think he was involved in some sort of nightclub 'altercation'. Ban seems a bit harsh, I think they should re-evaluate some of their punishments for drugs offences. It's performance enhancing drugs that we want rid of, so why punish recreational dugs and mistakes like Kenny's so severly?

Noone ever gets criticism when they're winning and he didn't really get long enough in the Premier League to make a real impact. Shearer was an easy target because he was so high profile.

Problem is, this league is an unkown quantity for us so potentially any team could beat us anywhere. Out of the games we've played so far, the only team likely to be challenging for automatic promotion is West Brom and we only managed a draw against them. Plus, injuries, confidence and form all play a big part. With the players we had last season we should not have got relegated but we did. It's not simply a case of looking at our players v another sides players. Cardiff will give us a good idea of where we're at.

Yeah, he's done well at Championship level in the past and also had one decent year in the Prem. He's hardly an exciting long term option but I reckon he'd score a few goals in this division.

Given the start you would think Ashley will wait til January at least. That way if we're still doing well he can get a better price and if it all starts to go wrong he can jump ship while there is still time to turn it around. Makes such a nice change to see a player bought in from abroad have this sort of attitude. Given this interview, it'll interesting to see if he stays put. If he doesn't then it would just confirm once again that players are being sold, regardless of what the manager or fans, or even in the odd case the player himself, wants.

Depends on the cup. I'd chose the FA Cup any day as it's something special but if it was the Carling Cup then i'd have to choose promotion. I actually like the Carling Cup and hope that we put our all into it but it's so important to get back to the Premier League as soon as possible. Teams that don't get back at the first time of asking tend to struggle over the next few years. Just look at Leeds, Southampton etc
