Alien / Aliens - Oasis Prometheus - Beedy Eye Probably the best analogy I can think of
-
Yeah not enough of a grungy feel to it... after all the planet and structures aren't pretty to look at, yet lack any sort of starkness or bleakness to them. The film is shiny and should be gritty instead. I don't think the script was that bad tbh, I just think it was poorly executed. There's plenty to work with there if you decide to rough it up a bit and also build things up a little slower and add some tension to it. However it just plods along in it's nice shiny way without any elements that make you nervous or scared.

Yeah Paddock mate it's exactly what I used when jumping up from a sony cybershot point & shoot. It's a great camera tbh but I've just upgraded to a canon 7d and a 40d as back up... but for anyone starting out it's a properly great camera. It's quite small and light too (for a DSLR) which makes it not too much hassle to carry around. Also despite it being 'entry level' it's still capable of taking some amazingly high quality shots... here's a couple and I've added the exif data (which is embedded in photos taken) to show they were taken with this camera and the kit lens which is supplied. Exif: Camera Canon EOS 450D Lens EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Exif: Camera Canon EOS 450D Lens EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Also just checked and I have 4 memory cards for it - 2 x 16gb, 1 x 4gb & 1 x 2gb so lots of memory there to take many many pics

I have recently bought 2 new DSLR's and have no need for this anymore... it's in very good conditon but does have a few slight marks from use on it... comes with kit lens, 2 batteries, box, leads, memory cards... basically everything you could need. Thought I'd plonk it on here 1st to give the Toontastic lads first dibs before it goes up on eBay later this week. £215 Cheers Andy

Another really good set mate... you definately have an eye for the street photography style of pic

Aye I'd agree with all the slating of Prometheus... went to see it at the cinema on Monday, and whilst the 3D was great the actual storyline was just a bit bland, and there was no real suspense or building of tension. Was a real let down in all fairness and wouldn't recommend going to see it. It's fine for a DVD on a saturday night in or something like that, but other than flashy visuals the plot and actual action was naff. Although gotta give the guy from Pete vs Life a big round of applause for somehow ending up in one of the biggest hyped films in years... even if his american accent was a bit 'odd'

Was reading on some daft site the other day that it's the start of the Zombie Apocalypse lol! Tbh I'm going to be ok if it is as went on a stag do a couple fo weeks back and played airsoft (like paintball but the pellets don't burst when they hit you) in a disused shopping centre. So whilst you lot are having your faces eaten I'll be doing army rolls out of HMV in the Metro Centre and taking the Zombies out with precise headshots. Ajax_Andy 1 - 0 Zombies

Not that I'm saying you usually just shoot the same things all the time btw, I was just meaning in general that going off on radmon quest is a good thing for a photographer to do from time to time
-
Aye it is and that's good as it's good do different things and not just stick to the same old type all the time... also quite a challenge to photograph things on the quayside in a way that hasn't been done 100 million times already... not seen the sage done in the way you did so that's a really good pic
-
Nice abstract again... you're clearly in an arty mood today
-
Haha love his expression! I think the couple walking hand in hand are a little close and due to this compete for attention a bit, but then it's not like the busker will have held this position for several minutes until you got a clear shot, so overall a really good image
-
Nice abstract shot Not 100% sure about the blown bottom as think it's a little excessive due to all the details being lost there but the shaded area and the wires being still full detail... but still a really nice pic

Too many great posts to put after every single one, so here's one for the whole thread instead -

I don't really know enough to have a major opinion on it but this is my rough feeling: Was the war legal? No If you do something illegal and it is proved you did it then are you a criminal? Yes So I guess until it's proved that he did go to war illegally by a court of law then he's not a war criminal, even if most people believe he did do so.

Some terrific pictures here mate... bubbles/naked photostudio one and the gig where you've focussed on the camera in front's screen are my favourites. Have you ever thought of doing the 1st one at night with a long exposure? Reckon that'd look amazing

Can an employer demand your personal mobile number?

Care to ellaborate Kevin? Bare in mind the manger has our home phone number and my mobile number so it's not like she's completely uncontactable. In other words she has provided her with 2 personal numbers, just neither of them are her mobile. -

Aye her contract is a stable one and not up for renewal or anything so I think she can probably refuse and not be in any danger... She's been looking for a new job for a while now and she's got a promising lead so hopefully that'll come off. Yeah complete control freak and getting worse... they actually used to be friends which makes it all the more worse as once my wife started working there she seemed to forget that and treat her like crap! -

Haha that's not a bad idea! -
Listened to it a couple of times and whilst I find the musicianship admirable it didn't really seem to have any real humour, and especially not on the level of the 1st album. Anyone else listened to it?

Yeah exactly mate, I told the wife this many times too... work stays at work and sitting reading work e-mails on a staurday isn't healthy, and usually there's nothing you can do about any issues that pop up till the Monday anyway so it just creates stress. Cheers for the advice lads, I've told her to refuse so we'll see what happens if she does -

Haha you've never met her boss... she's a proper bitch... I sadly think even the Toontastic boys may end up running away with their tails between their legs -

Yeah she's already on the look out and there's a promising lead but until she's found something else I think she needs to stand her ground. Her boss is a nightmare anyway so not sure she could make her life any more hell than it is there. -

I dont think her boss would do the contract thing tbh... other than to change it to "you must be contactable 24/7 and supply me with your personal number". I think she's better of just refusing, but my wife doesn't like confrontation so I'm not sure whether she'll do that -

Marketing. She gets paid less than £25k a year. There are never any emergencies where she'd need to be contacted, other than maybe her boss arranges a meeting for her over the weekend and she'd have to be there at 8am on the Monday morning maybe, but that kind of thing would be very rare. Yeah I've said to say that she's not prepared to give it to her boss and to say that her boss already knows the reasons why as they've discussed it in the past and that she's not prepared to discuss it again. Her boss has my mobile and our house phone so if it was a real emergency she'd be able to get a message to my wife... however I know it's just so she can text or e-mail her stuff like "why haven't you done this", "are you going to have this ready on Monday" etc etc
