As has been pointed out, its the insurance company that will the pay the price (as well as the courier who probably thought he was doing S-O a favour). And what will that mean? Increased premiums and more declined applications from rightful claims. You can't justify theft as being morally acceptable becuase it's against a large company. It's an absolute wrong which always has consequences for other people. If S-O goes ahead with this, it will serve him right if they become suspicious and track the serial number one day. What he's planning to do is no better than someone going into his porch and, well, nicking a laptop.
