  2. TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson has lost money after publishing his bank details in his newspaper column. The Top Gear host revealed his account numbers after rubbishing the furore over the loss of 25 million people's personal details on two computer discs. He wanted to prove the story was a fuss about nothing. But Clarkson admitted he was "wrong" after he discovered a reader had used the details to create a £500 direct debit to the charity Diabetes UK. I was wrong and I have been punished Jeremy Clarkson Clarkson published details of his Barclays account in the Sun newspaper, including his account number and sort code. He even told people how to find out his address. "All you'll be able to do with them is put money into my account. Not take it out. Honestly, I've never known such a palaver about nothing," he told readers. But he was proved wrong, as the 47-year-old wrote in his Sunday Times column. "I opened my bank statement this morning to find out that someone has set up a direct debit which automatically takes £500 from my account," he said. "The bank cannot find out who did this because of the Data Protection Act and they cannot stop it from happening again. "I was wrong and I have been punished for my mistake." Police were called in to search for the two discs, which contained the entire database of child benefit claimants and apparently got lost in the post in October 2007. They were posted from HM Revenue and Customs offices in Tyne and Wear, but never turned up at their destination - the National Audit Office. The loss, which led to an apology from Prime Minister Gordon Brown, created fears of identity fraud. Clarkson now says of the case: "Contrary to what I said at the time, we must go after the idiots who lost the discs and stick cocktail sticks in their eyes until they beg for mercy."
  3. .com's comments Moral defeat Stoke City 0 Newcastle 0 The doom-mongers didn't get the result they were hoping for but the performance at the Britannia Stadium must rank as one of the worst under the guidance of Sam Allardyce. Only the woeful displays at Derby, Wigan and Fulham could rival an inept showing in front of the Beeb's cameras as Newcastle stayed in the FA Cup by the skin of their teeth. The squad selection begged more questions about those not included than those in the 16 as messrs Milner, Emre and Beye were all missing. Milner was absent due to a heavy cold and Emre and Beye were officially missing due to ankle and hamstring injuries, respectively, but to see Kazenga LuaLua, Andy Carroll and David Edgar on the bench was surprising to say the least. LuaLua's last game was in the FA Youth Cup game against Shrewsbury and Carroll has been on loan at Preston but both were thrust into the action in an awful second half that should have seen us bow out of the competition. Our chances were few and far between with Viduka's snapshot, Owen's smothered attempt and Carroll's last gasp effort into the side netting, the nearest we came to breaching an inexperienced Championship defence. Nicky Butt had a couple of efforts that whistled over the bar but such was the inaccuracy of his distribution, it was difficult to know if they were just stray passes. Only Steven Taylor and Abdoulaye Faye came out of the game with any great credit for valiant displays at the back while summer signings Enrique and Rozehnal both look to be some way off adapting to English football. Captain Alan Smith was again treading water in a deep midfield role while Damien Duff scampered down the wing to no great effect in his third game back. The little and large combination up front of Viduka and Owen was again ineffective but service up to them was minimal to say the least. Charles N'Zogbia looked to be our main threat in his more advanced midfield role but often ran into trouble by trying to beat that extra man. While Stoke may have wasted their best opportunity to take our scalp by wasting some seemingly unmissable second half opportunities, the replay is by no means a foregone conclusion. Alex Ferguson was watching from the stands but he will be sleeping soundly this week knowing that his title challenge will not be threatened by the black and white shambles he saw. With players disappearing to Ghana, going on trial and picking up injuries and illnesses, January trips to Old Trafford and the Emirates look frightening prospects. Only a home game against Allardyce's old side Bolton seems to offer any respite. Any chance to alleviate any pressure was well and truly missed and Big Sam's cheery demeanour as he left the pitch was surely rueful rather than joyful. Full match report to follow. Team: Given, Rozehnal, Taylor, Faye, Jose Enrique, Duff (LuaLua 74), Smith, Butt, N'Zogbia, Viduka (Carroll 87), Owen. Subs n/u: Harper, Cacapa, Edgar. Booked: Butt (his tenth of the season meaning he will miss the replay, not his return to Old Trafford) Stoke: Simonsen, Wilkinson, Shawcross, Cort, Dickinson, Lawrence, Eustace (Pulis 90), Pugh, Cresswell, Sidibe (Parkin 65), Fuller (Pericard 90). Subs n/u: Hoult, Zakuani. Booked: Cresswell. Crowd: 22,861 Referee: Steve Bennett (Kent).

  9. I can see that happening too, it seems a lot of fans are more pissed off with the fact the media are circling the club like vultures waiting to feast on the Allardyce corpse than they are with the fact we are shite.
  10. Thats him nailed on to sign for us then !
  11. The words "Not safe for work" do not go far enough !
  12. +1 to Sam, hey Jimbo Hey, I'm still sharpening that axe* *take that as a euphamism if you want too
  13. I'm not too disapointed, given our form vs theirs, and with it being an away fixture in shitty conditions, a draw isn't too bad a result.
  14. They are still rewinding the betamax in the editing room tbh.
  15. Along with Charles Bronson Both of them kneel in front of Chuck Norris.
  16. Good chance of him becoming the next Bayern manager tbh. Or Meelan.
