Although I'm disgusted by this whole farce, I think withdrawing aid over this incident, and posibly effecting the lives of hundreds of people is as gross as the thought of punishing that women. -
Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce has issued a stark warning to his players to stand up to fans' demands at the club or face the axe. The former Bolton boss has admitted he does know if his new signings can handle the pressure of playing for Newcastle, who face Blackburn tomorrow aiming to end a four-match run without a win. Fans turned on Allardyce and his players during Saturday's 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool, mocking Alan Smith when he was named the sponsors' man of the match and jeering the Newcastle boss as he made his three substitutions. The players met Allardyce this week and were asked to declare any personal grievances with him as he strives to put a miserable month behind him. He was greeted with silence in the dressing room and full support from his players, which has at least reassured him. He added: 'I'm satisfied with the conversations we've had this week to try and resolve the problems but the biggest way to resolve the problem is obviously to bounce back with a result.' Goalkeeper Shay Given admitted that the abuse players had to endure was as bad as he has heard in his 10 years at the club and he worries that some may not be able to handle it. Allardyce admitted: 'Winning football matches wins fans over, nothing else. It doesn't matter what you might say. If we're winning they're happy, if we're losing they're not. I think every player has got to decide whether he can handle it or not and if he can't handle the heat then get out of the kitchen, because that is what will happen eventually.' The Newcastle boss claims other Toon managers have been through the same difficulties with the club's faithful but the fans have turned against Allardyce sooner than he or chairman Chris Mort could have anticipated. Allardyce said: 'Nobody likes to be shouted at, but it's part of the job and you have to accept that. 'Nobody wants to hear your own fans giving you abuse or telling you what you're not doing and what they expect you to do but you have to strive to make sure it doesn't happen again. 'You've got to accept it when you play here, it's a special place when things are going well and it's a tough place when they are not. We will find out if we have the players who can cope with it. 'I think a few players have come here before and not been able to perform because of the pressure of playing for a big club like this. I don't know at this moment whether our players are good enough or big enough to handle that pressure because they haven't had that much of it. We will find out. 'It'll make me more resilient, more determined. S*** will happen at times and it's come our way. You've got to accept it because it deserved to come our way.' Allardyce hopes to have defenders Steven Taylor and Abdoulaye Faye back for the trip to Blackburn but Michael Owen, Damien Duff and Claudio Cacapa are out.

There's a slight difference in publishing insulting cartoons in a national news paper and allowing your pupils to name the class teddy bear. -
Spider-man 3 Great effects, great action, no plot, too many badies. Disapointing, meh.

Riquelme rejects Spurs for Boca Argentina playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme has revealed he turned down Spurs to move back to Boca Juniors. Riquelme, 29, has been frozen out at Villarreal this season after falling out with coach Manuel Pellegrini. He is now putting the finishing touches to his return to Argentina, but admitted Spurs had tried to sign him. Riquelme, who has not played for Villarreal this term, said: "I thank Spurs for their interest but my family and I want to return home." He added: "I am a simple person and all I want is to play football every Sunday. "This move is the only chance I have to play at the next World Cup, which is the thing that motivates me most. "People should know that of the three parties I am the one who has made the biggest effort and that I have offered to play a year for free with Boca. "I have also told Villarreal they do not have to pay me what they owe me for another year and a half."

summed up perfectly.

Someone tell Michael to hurry up, I've got the engine running.

Judging by the performance on Saturday, especially the way the players trudged out of the tunnel for the second half, that is plain for all to see, and regardless of 13 matches or not, if you've lost the dressing room you're a deadman walking.
-
Totally agree, he should have gone at the end of the season, it was clear he had lost the plot.
-
Smug and arsey ! Moi ? It was an interesting read, I felt the opinions were fairly mixed to be honest, I genuinely don't expect anyones opinions to be changed by any of those statements, if anything, depending on you point of view it would probably reinforce your opinion.

Aye it really is a shocking piece isn't it. Well some bits are fair. But having a go at Mort and Ashley? Cacapa - has looked as good as any CB weve had in a while - apart from against Pompey. Enrique has one of the best footballing minds in the club. Fabrication It’s the same with Joey Barton and Alan Smith, who cost £12million between them. One has barely played and one has been played out of position all season. RE : Ashley He's the owner. For the chairman (whom runs the club see? come on sun catch up..) He writes a decent article every home game in the program and can often be found via a multitude of media sources expressing his views. If thats the case i dont know what the fuck it would take for The S*n?!!? The rest isnt that bad. My thoughts exactly. Clearly writen by someone who's experiences of Newcastle this season is the 3.5mins of airtime on Match of The Day.

Mauro Zarate: Goalmachine ! Looks expensive, but you can usually get him for about £3.5m

NEVER have Newcastle fans turned on a boss as quickly as they have Sam Allardyce. Big Sam is in big trouble — and it’s difficult to see where he goes from here. He originally said it would take three years to turn the club round but, in football these days, you simply don’t get that sort of time. Everywhere you look there are massive problems. He’s a manager who likes to build from the back and yet all the defenders he has bought in — with the possible exception of David Rozehnal — have, so far, failed to adapt. It’s the same with Joey Barton and Alan Smith, who cost £12million between them. There are just too many similar players in midfield, all one-paced and without the legs to get round the pitch. It also seems there is a communication breakdown between the manager and Michael Owen. A newspaper with which Owen has close links claimed on Saturday there was “unease in the dressing room” and that senior players were “at odds with the manager.” Yet it will be a little difficult to flog your star striker in the transfer window — probably the best outcome for both parties — when there are so many doubts about his fitness. Then you come to the board. Mike Ashley may have a few bob but he’s still only released about £10m — £23m spent on new players and £13m recouped on Kieron Dyer and Scott Parker. And just how hands-on is he? When is he actually seen, apart from in his black and white shirt on matchdays? Then there’s the “chairman”, the deathlike-sounding Chris Mort. He’s another absent landlord, doing little more than providing a couple of soundbites every month. It’s all enough to give Freddy Shepherd a good name. The fans have already had quite enough, their only comfort coming from the fact both Middlesbrough and Sunderland are in an even worse state of repair. Yet that’s not the point. Expecting to see the new boss cement a place in the top six they have, instead, watched in horror as Newcastle have managed just one point out of a possible 12 — and that was a lucky draw at the Stadium of Light. They have scored just three in four games — two of them own goals and the other a fluke from James Milner. Now they face a trip to Blackburn followed by the visit of Premier League leaders Arsenal. Should they stretch their recent run to one point from 18, Allardyce’s position could well be untenable. Yes, there have been injuries but that cannot explain the type of football served up. Following the 4-1 home thrashing by Portsmouth, Geordie fans turned on Allardyce again on Saturday as Liverpool cruised to a 3-0 win that could easily have been 6-0. They couldn’t understand his team selection — why, for a start, was Milner omitted? And they were further dumfounded by some of his substitutions. The trouble with Allardyce is that so much was expected of him. Linked with the club for the last two or three years, Newcastle fans were hoping for a quick fix. This just hasn’t materialised. Then there’s his contract — £9m over three years. Plus he also has a huge back-up staff. They’d also have to go. There have been tough times up on Tyneside in the last few seasons. Incredibly, they could be getting even worse.

Allardyce faces block on January arrivals By Michael Walker Published: 27 November 2007 The Newcastle United chairman, Chris Mort, yesterday tried to give Sam Allardyce the club's full backing following Saturday's demoralising 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool, and the humiliating reaction of the home fans towards Allardyce. Mort's response to a question about supporting his manager in the long term came in the reply: "We would like to," which is different from saying, "We will." The ambiguity in his answer will not reassure Allardyce and neither will Mort's opinion on the need for new signings in January to help address the present slump. "We need our team performing on the pitch as a unit," Mort said, "I don't think adding new players will necessarily sort that out." It would be understandable if Newcastle were considering their options post-Allardyce and if Alan Shearer is their choice they need to accelerate, because Shearer is interesting the Football Association as successor to Steve McClaren in the England post. It is thought that the interest is mutual. Shearer, however, if offered, would struggle to turn down his hometown club and his arrival would be expected to lift Newcastle in the manner of Kevin Keegan 15 years ago. Another option is Harry Redknapp, who has impressed Newcastle's owner, Mike Ashley, enough for him last week to nominate Redknapp as his choice for England manager. Allardyce has to work on under pressure internally and externally. Saturday's post-match dressing-room attempt at clearing the air is not thought to have convinced, with the players listening to Allardyce in near silence. "Sam is working hard with the coaching staff to get the current squad working together," Mort said. "It is certainly not surprising the fans are not happy. You pay decent money to watch a Premier League game these days and if someone has paid their money to watch a game, then they're entitled to voice their concern if it's not going right. "We have had two disappointing home games on the trot. The fans don't want that, the manager doesn't want that and we certainly don't want that. Sam is a very experienced manager, and I am sure he'll work hard to get his best team and how they can work together in the best way." The apparent reluctance of the hierarchy to discuss January with Allardyce is perhaps ominous. Although Habib Beye and Claudio Cacapa have been sporadically impressive, as has Mark Viduka, Allardyce's summer signings are yet to win over fans. The back three against Liverpool – Beye, David Rozehnal and Jose Enrique – were Allardyce signings but none played well and after the game Allardyce said other defenders had been targeted first. "I was after [Mikaël] Silvestre, [sylvain] Distin and Tal Ben Haim, " he said. "Once your first targets have gone, you look elsewhere. Your only option is to look at what's available in the foreign markets. These are good players, but they're finding it difficult to play in the Premier League on a regular basis. All the other Premier League clubs are spending heavily, more than ever before, and that increases the quality in the division. You have to try to live with that." There is a trip to Blackburn on Saturday and then it is Arsenal at home. The way Newcastle have been playing, there is little expectation either can be won. That would leave Allardyce with one point from 18.
