Agreed, but worthy in the same breath as Maradona ?

It is frustrating that work permits hold us back from picking up players like Robinho, Kerlon, Palacio, Gago, Sorbis etc, but players like Deco being ten-a-penny, I don't think so.

Oi, Jimbo, don't blame us for him! If he was one of us he at least would of been witty enough to make a comment about it being worse piss than XXXX or something. Laz, who's piece of fiction is that? Nah, Bear Grylls is one of us, it just goes to show he'd rather drink his own piss than risk any of your shite

Do you seriously think any player would get away with that kind of skill on a premiership football pitch ?

Deco ahead of Raul. Deco makes Barcelona tick and does a lot of dirty work in centre midfield. Luque was faster than Raul has ever been. Raul wouldn't add anything to Newcastle. I'd rather take Iniesta over Deco, but this story has been a bit of a no-brainer from day one, Mike Ashley from the start spoke of NUFC becoming a global brand, and that means "Beckham" style players, household names that promote the club without having a trophy to earn it, the problem being, without a trophy or Champions League football it is hard to attract a marque name. Did he? I think these are a lot of assumptions. So far the new ownership hasn't really given away their targets and how to achieve them, both financially as well in regard to success on the field. And I don't take too much from NOTW articles. In 99% they pure speculation as well. Yes he did, from when the news first broke that Ashley had purchased Sir John Hall's shares, he was talking about turning NUFC into a global brand. * funnilly enough, it was quoted in one of your posts. http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...news:&st=20

tbh *by the way, those are his pants on his head as a makeshift hat.

Newcastle United have announced that they are emulating most of their Premiership rivals by introducing pricing bands for home games - which actually cuts prices for half a dozen less "attractive" fixtures: Cat C: £25 and upwards: Birmingham, Bolton, Derby, Fulham, Reading, Wigan. Cat B: £28 and upwards: Villa, Blackburn, Everton, Man City, Pompey, Spurs, West Ham. Cat A: £31 and upwards: Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, mackems, smoggies. There's also a small increase in current season ticket prices in respect of any sold after August 2nd.

Newcastle's new regime will slam the door on release clauses in star players' contracts. United are powerless to prevent Michael Owen (left) or Obafemi Martins (right) from leaving Toon in the event of a big-money offer for either player. Martins' departure could be triggered by a bid of £13 million, while Owen's depreciation-based clause is currently worth just over £9 million. And that has seriously upset new manager Sam Allardyce and his long-term planning at St James's Park. But while other United insiders insist release clauses are commonplace in major deals, new deputy chairman Chris Mort has vowed they will no longer be allowed at Newcastle. "The guys who brought these players in felt they did what they had to do to get them through the door, so I'm not going to criticise that," said the man now in day to day charge of running the club. "But clearly, going forward, we would prefer not to have those kind of provisions. "But we still aim to have some top players here, as the club always has had." Meanwhile, the mild-mannered Mort has warned he is willing to use power of veto against Allardyce on transfer matters. But the new power behind the United throne also maintained that Big Sam IS seen by billionaire owner Mike Ashley as high profile enough to take the club into a famous new era. Asked if he was willing to say no to Allardyce, Mort added: "Yes, absolutely. If I want to do my job properly. "I'm not going to come in in any confrontational way, but Sam and I are going to work together. "Mike and Sam have met, but I think the relationship will be more through me than them directly. "Sam's clearly going to lead the charge on who the player targets are. He has the skills to do that. "And he has to be given time. I think one of the difficulties the club has had is it's lost some stability over the years. If we can give him some stability, I think that would help him to take the club forward. "Sam is a big enough name to do that."

Why on Earth would Liverpool want him back ? Liverpool seem to go for players like Bellamy once they've had a good season at a mid-table club. If Bellamy ends up back at Liverpool, I'll eat my arse.

GLENN ROEDER admits he has a burning desire to get straight back into management. Roeder resigned as Newcastle manager at the end of last season after 15 months in charge at St James' Park. Newcastle fans turned on him after a poor run of results but Roeder says he has lost none of his appetite for the game and hopes an opportunity will come his way soon. Roeder said: "My passion is as strong as ever, it's just a question of being patient and waiting to see what turns up. "Now the clubs are starting pre-season training it is sinking in that the game I have been involved in all my life, I'm not going to be part of. "I've always believed that in life you can't fail as long as when you get knocked down to the canvas you come out trading punches again. "I know there's life outside the game but for me, football's everything."

BILLIONAIRE Mike Ashley wants to bring a global superstar to Newcastle — and has put Raul and Deco high on his wanted list. The Toon's new owner plans to signal his ambition to make the club a worldwide brand by signing one of the biggest names on the planet. A source revealed: "Now Mike has overall control of Newcastle he wants to make a statement of intent to the rest of world football. "He wants to land a global superstar to show he means business and make everyone sit up and take notice. "Mike hopes to move over the next few weeks as Raul and Deco face uncertain futures." The future of Real Madrid skipper Raul has been in doubt since the sacking of boss Fabio Capello. Portugal ace Deco wants to play in England and could be offloaded if Barca land Frank Lampard.
