They will give you entry for 90 days at immigration control at the airport, obviously you can't work etc. But will they give me that on my old skool passport ? I was reading on the US Embassy website that if you have the new fancy biometric passports you qualify for the Visa waiver program. If I don't need to be shelling out for a new passport I'd rather not. It seems you will only need a new one if your old one isn't 'machine readable'. Read this; http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/niv/mrp_bio.html Cool !!! Although mine isn't the bio-metric electronic type, it seems mine is machine readable, I'll confirm in the post office or a travel agent just to be sure, but thank fuck for that ! saved me £130 and a day fucking around travelling to and from Peterbrough, I owe you a beer Greg.

OK, not trying to hijack this thread but I might be heading off to Texas in the next couple of weeks for the sake of international romantic reasons, I have a traditional passport, the non-biometric type, do I need a Visa ??? I have hastily booked a session at the passport office to get mine upgraded at daft expense, it seems its too late to get a Visa at this notice but would I need one with the old style passport ??? I could really do without shelling out £130 for a new passport if I don't need one.

I think you'd regret getting an 8gb, you'd have to compromise on your content.

Mine used to be about 1.7Mb/s before I left home, now I'm slumming it at my parents I'm resorting to using a USB modem, which feels barely quicker than dial-up.

Get one of these, but check it has a 12v outlet, mine has, its great for running 12v stuff, although shop around, the price on the link is expensive, I got one from Lidl's for about £25. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...tegoryId_165629

Avaturd Urgh fuck me what a let down, a well trodden story of falling in love with the enemy, and switching sides (see dances with wolves) starring the love-children of Jar Jar Binks and Lion-O from Thundercats, oh yes the special effects were great but no substance beyond that.

ALAN SHEARER wants to take charge of managerless Sheffield Wednesday. And the Match of the Day pundit hopes to install his former Newcastle team-mate Gary Speed as his No 2 at Hillsborough. Shearer is eager to get back into management after failing to save his beloved Toon from relegation last season. A close pal of the St James' Park legend said: "Alan is keen to manage again and wants the Wednesday job. "He has also said he would like Gary Speed to be his assistant." The Owls are now desperate to find a new boss after crashing out of the FA Cup on Saturday following a 2-1 home loss to Crystal Palace. Sacked Bolton chief Gary Megson and former Preston manager Alan Irvine have already been linked with Wednesday. Brian Laws was axed last month after four successive defeats left the Owls in the Championship relegation zone. Wednesday fans will be intrigued to hear of Shearer's interest but may see him as a gamble. They would prefer an experienced manager with their club second bottom and four points off safety. Shearer wanted the Toon job full-time last summer but owner Mike Ashley appointed Chris Hughton instead. Wednesday's Academy boss Sean McAuley was put in caretaker charge after Laws' departure but the Palace result has put paid to his chances.
