  1. My brother in law managed to buy 4 on the 17th (day they came out) and sold them all on ebay for about 2 grand each (dollars). However, on his way home from the game shop he got them from, he was followed by 2 very serious looking dudes in a 'gangsta' car for 2 Hours! He was too scared to drive home, assuming he'd just get burgled, so he basically drove round in (big) circles, on the phone to the police, until he finally lost them (he reckons because they needed petrol). So, despite the profit he made, he's a bit funny about it all due to his traumatic experience.
  2. Definitely a strange restriction on personal freedoms when you're dictating what people can - and can't - wear. However, despite my naturally left - leaning, tolerant attitudes, I can't help but feel that the European Muslim population in general only has itself to blame for the current intolerance towards them. I know plenty of "westernised" muslims who go on about how the Koran doesn't advocate violence; how Islam allows respect towards other religions, etc. etc. But for Muslims in the West to have any of my sympathy, they need to start being a whole lot more vocal on a public stage, in voicing their absolute opposition to violence perpetrated under the name of Islam (9/11, Tube bombings, etc.). Absolutely shocking to me, how central London was just about shut down for 2 weekends running by militant Muslims protesting about a fucking Danish cartoon that they found offensive to their religion. In comparison, Muslim response in terms of mobilising protests against Al-Quaida and other organizations using violence in the name of Islam, has been shocking in its absence. They SHOULD have closed down London with anti - Islamic extremist protests; chanting "Not in Our Name"...but this just didn't happen in anything like the numbers it should have done. If there really is a place for Islam in a tolerant, non-violent and developed society like England of today...then get off your arses and show your opposition to those who employ violence and intolerance in the name of your religion - otherwise you will never have my sympathy when things like this happen...
  3. They look pretty cool to me. What did you have in mind , like?
  4. Oh fuck. Is it time for another one of your "Let me give you all some advice / fuck off and support Chelsea" posts?
  5. or anyone who can't get channel 5 there's an interesting thread on the SMB forum..... they love us really Hope I didn't break any rules & that....
  6. I reckon you can't sleep because you're trying too hard. Start reading a book, tell yourself you're going to read all night long...and you'll find yourself dropping off in no time. I know insomnia can be one of the most frustrating experiences, but at least you haven't got the worst kind. Here in the states there was a programme on about people suffering from insomnia that was so bad, they couldn't sleep at all; and eventually died as a result.... poor bastards
  7. Very True. It is way too early to judge Martins, but he was always an extremely exciting prospect rather than the finished article; but the question is whether or not this coaching staff can get the best out of ANY player; and it certainly doesn't look like it..
  8. For anyone dealing with high-definition video (eg: Anyone buying a new high-def camcorder to go with their hd telly ie: lots of people this Christmas), there's already a real need for this higher capacity. It's naive to think that this difference in capacity won't influence the eventual winner in this particular fight, since both formats only exist because of the need for greater capacity than that offered by a DVD.
  9. Among the best I've seen were Queen, Rolling Stones (both @ St. James') , David Bowie (@ Roker park, IIRC), De La Soul (Newcastle Students Union) , Prince (in Las Vegas) , but by far the best were; 1) Big Country, Newcastle City Hall. Just an amazing experience all round. Stuart Adamson, RIP. 2) Lenny Kravitz, at what used to be the Riverside in Newcastle. Strange because I'm not a huge fan of him or of his music, but that night in such a small venue (300 people max?), he & his band were just incredible.
  10. I may not have any sense, but I just bought a blu-ray burning laptop for the simple reason that it can hold lots (50gb) of data on one disc. As far as I know, you can't yet buy a computer that can burn - not just play - HD-DVD, so that decided it for me. I'm not even that bothered if HD-DVD eventually "wins", because the blu-ray discs will always be compatible with my computer, and that'll do me for the next 3 years or so. Are you sure about that? A far as I know, so far HD-DVD can only do 30GB - another reason why I think Blu-Ray will prevail...

  14. Aye, the only way Roeder can salvage this season, is to get Martins & Nugent in ASAP . Here's hoping Kuyt turns out to be shuyt.
  15. No, not me - although I was listening live & coughed coffee all over my keyboard when I heard that. I've been here for 3 years and I've never met anyone else here who even cared about football never mind a toon fan......
