  1. Cats are the Devil's work, I tells ya They are just....wrong, in every way. I'm not trying to wind cat lovers up (honestly, Cath), I just find them yukky tbh
  2. 2 & 3 runs the risk of being in big panic mode when the Jan transfer window opens if things don't go well for the first half of the season. That leads to being held to ransom by clubs who know we are desperate for better players.
  3. I do like a pint of real ale now and again, I must admit. Yum yum
  4. Pwecisely! We're ganging up on you now, snakey. A couple of cans of Ace lager and I'll tek yuz aaaallllll
  5. Fatty?? Fatty??? I take it you mean our manager Yes, players are around who cost not a lot and make a good team so maybe I'm being too pessimistic as to his qualities. Watch him sign for Wigan and prove me right......
  6. I think I'm not making my point very well. If someone bothered to trawl back about a year, they would find I made the very points Gemmill and Alex (and others) are making i.e. that we don't have to spend a fortune on a player for him to be good. All I'm saying is that the Danish/Norwegian kid must be known all over europe and if he costs around £3m and is a good prospect then we wouldn't get him.
  7. The one in your avatar??
  8. At the Sheff Utd home game, he was taking peltas from the East Stand massive for pulling out of a challenge.
  9. That point remains total bollocks though, no matter how many times you repeat it. There are players who are cheap because they're crap, but there are also players who are cheap because they play in unfashionable leagues etc. For instance, Morten Gamst Pedersen signed for Blackburn for £1.5m because he came from Tromso and because he wasn't that well known. Not because he was shit. If the market is inflated, and the Skandinavian lad is a good prospect - at an inflated price of £3m, then clubs will be queueing round the block to sign such a prospect, no???? No, not necessarily. Was there a queue to sign Gamst Pedersen? The notion that we have to be fending off other clubs and paying inflated prices to be signing anyone decent is ridiculous. Allardyce makes a general comment about transfer market inflation, most probably referring to players within this country and you're applying it to every player on the market. Which is a flawed argument. Every summer managers pick up bargain players and you think "Never heard of him. He's probably shit", then you actually see them play and think fuck, he got a bit of a bargain there. Why can't we do that? I never said he was shit. I did, however, possibly put him in the Andy O'Brien class which makes me skating on thin ice I suppose I just think that with inflated prices, if this kid was good (or potentially good) he would be attracting bigger clubs than us. I agree that players are unearthed who raise an eyebrow, but they aren't in the majority. MGPedersen is not a world beater by any means, btw. Once again, I must say that I'm not saying that a player must cost at least £5m to be any good (that's for others reading this, as I believe you know I'm not saying that) but this guy must be attracting other top teams if he costs a reasonable amount. Most teams these days (apart from NUFC) have scouting networks across the world and know about virtually every player going. They are bound to know about how good this lad is and whether he's worth £3m.
  10. Just wondering what reactions we'll have to former players returning this season. Bramble: probably be no more than a ripple of applause followed by loud guffaws as he makes a howler in the game. Parker: hmmmmmm, never set the place alight really, so I guess a muted applause. Chopra: Hmmmmm, a difficult one. He will be playing for the unwashed and is a threat. I doubt there will be any response for him - none from me, that's for sure. Regarding Chopra, I find his move to sunlun a bit strange. They must surely recognise that he is black and white daft and fuckin' hates them, yet he will be wearing their shitty shirt. And what will both he and us think if he scores a winner against us ??????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

  12. Agreed. Some folk thought that he was just gonna splash £50 - £60 million on players a la Chewsee. However, we've spent nowt so far this year and should be comfortable with forking out £20m I would have thought.
  13. I read the initial article and nothing else. I am possibly going to appear cold-hearted (as I don't know the facts), but my knee-jerk reaction is that it is just an excuse to leave. If I was correct, I wouldn't hesitate to use the word TWAT.
  14. “That isn’t the case this summer. A £1m player five years ago is now £5m and that’s the level of inflation we’re living with. It’s going to be expensive to fill the void now and we have to move quickly if we are going to get the players that are left on our list.” Which is exactly the point I was making about the Danish/Norwegian lad. If his 'inflated' price is £3m, then his quality can only be around the normal £1m = Andy O'Brien class. I don't like the way XXXL Sam tells all the footballers he chases now that they are sub-standard to what he really wants! They are really going to feel wanted by that comment - NOT.
  15. If only I could argue against that statement!! One thing I would never do is drive after a drink. I know other people can do it (after one or two) no problem, but one pint is enough for me to stay clear of driving.
  16. Apparently the legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milligrams of blood. This is roughly equivalent to two pints of medium strength lager. The advice is no more than 3 units of alcohol for men and no more than 2 units for women. I don't know what a unit is though (maybe a pint or a glass of wine??)
  17. Does anyone know - for certain - what the legal limit of alcohol in the blood is for driving ? And/or the units permitted to drink and still drive?
  18. Cheers, WU'C. I'm fairly sure it was your profile I was reading in one the other day. For anyone unfamiliar with true-faith, it's a good read and a bit more 'edgy' than The Mag; I highly recommend it. I prefer it to the Mag. Handy size too. Not too on all the new match reports though. The 'thru black & white eyes' bit is my favourite. It's becoming a written history of one fans' feelings over their lifetime of following NUFC and I find it fascinating tbh. Right, I've missed out on tf for a while now, is 'thru black and white eyes' still there? I thought they'd replaced it with proper match reports? Hopefully not then. Is there an issue out since Ashley's, I say Ashley's, takeover? Yes, 'thru black & white eyes' is still there. I'd be devastated if they dropped that. Issue 58 (the last one) reports on Ashley's, I say Ashley's takeover. The date of the next issue is to be announced on true-faith.co.uk (I haven't been on there, so maybe the date is fixed already).
  19. am thinking it am good wasn't it if so did he
  20. This is going to appear I'm in favour of big money signings again (which I'm not), but someone is going to have to tell Ashley, I say Ashley, that in order to protect his investment, he may have to pay over the odds for some defenders fairly soon. If we go into the season with the defence we have now things are going to be pretty ugly.

  22. What? Fuck off You can still buy the games and stuff. It has to me man. It's been gathering dust in me wardrobe for about a year now man. Btw, no way is a VCR obsolete just yet. Recordable DVDs/Sky+ have only been common place in the last 3 years or so. You're right. In many ways, I still prefer fucking around with VHS cassettes than DVD+/-R's.

  24. Cheers, Doctor, I'd be much obliged and only too happy to reimburse you for it if you do have it.
  25. I'm really usure. Once again, your planning has coincided with my departure (I'm off on Sun morn). For that reason, I don't want to get pissed on Friday and for obvious reasons I think I should spend as much time with mrs hips on Fri/Sat. That said, mrs has said I can go and meet you all but I'm in two minds. I may appear for a short time on Sat afternoon as I know what time you're meeting and where you're playing. We'll see.
