  1. Ashley can then charge a premium for the club tho which no1 will pay. If he couldn't sell when we were on our arse i can't see any one buying us now for probably twice the price
  2. Stephane Gui'varch for me. French World cup winner. Literally expected one of the best strikers in the world, just never happened I am afraid!
  3. The emnes one is a belter. Funnier the more obscure the player me thinks
  4. return of campbell or taylor then. oh shit
  5. Can anyone remember how well Andy Cole had done at Bristol City before we bought him? Cole was an Arsenal 'reject', iirc, so there's no certainty in how things really are when players are young. As for Wickham, he could be one of those who actually flourishes when put into a good team (do NUFC fit into that catagory?). And then, to counter my argument, there was Chris Armstrong (someone tell me if I've got the right name, as I'm not certain) who we bought from Palace, who looked like he would step up but didn't - and he was coming into a good team. I guess it's all a gamble really. Therefore, I don't think the lad will be coming here - not for £10m anyway. FMA loves a good gamble tho
  6. What is the value of a player though Ant? He's just turned 18 and has scored 15 senior goals. 15 more than Carroll at that age, 12 more than Shearer at that age. I've watched him for England U18s as well, if this kid doesn't make it then something is wrong, he's the real deal, big lad too. Worst case scenario is he's shite and we sell him for 6s to a Villa/Wigan type club. I am with ya and think he is worth a decent punt. if you could only buy players you could guarantee would be phenomenal it would cost an absolute fortune. Plus, it is extremley satisfying if you by a yougun that kicks on and plays for country etc even if we do just sell him when he's 22 for £35m
  7. Or £6m on Bellamy. We could keep on going but none of those examples prove anything in relation to this kid. My point is though, I'd rather spend £10m on him than a similar fee on Bothroyd or a bit more on Carlton fucking Cole. I suspect there's nowt to this story anyway though. If you are saying we would pay more for Carlton Cole this lad must be dogshit. If a striker is proven as being shit surely that doesn't put his price up because he is in fact proven in some way I could see figures in excess of £10m being quoted for Cole. I don't rate him though as I thought would've been clear from my previous post. He was just a player I picked on as we've been linked with him in the recent past. Again though, the hypothetical figures bandied around for the likes of him and Bothroyd have no bearing on Wickham's ability as a player. I agree with Stevie on Dyer too. That wasn't a dig at you mate, just a dig at the popular belief that carlton cole is a good striker when he clearly is not. the lad scored 2 goals in a game for the first time in his professional career for the first time this season if I remember rightly and he must be about 28 now and is still classed as a promising youngster. My point was, if cole is worth £10m then Whickham is worth £20m + imho
  8. a noticed that. Went from outside that saffron at bottom of Grey Street like opposite rumpolis and that and then cut during same seen to moseley street quickly and then back down again lol
  9. If we spend less than £10m on a 'proven' striker then we might as well not bother. Even spending more than £10mil on a "Proven" striker doesnt work. Alves for the Boro was a prime example of that. Even spending £8mil of a relatively proven striker didnt work for Arsenal in the shape of Jeffers! 10. hope he gets fucked and never plays again
  11. Probably the best we will get in our wage bracket. We will have to take risks as proven cost too much to pay so for me its a yes, give him a shot and if it backfires then its bad luck but for people expecting us to buy proven I don't understand. One season in the championship is probably more suited than one in the dutch leagues
  12. Only three more years then the Northern Rock deal will come to an end and he'll really take the piss. Anyone who doesn't think he'll use the shirt to whore the Sports Direct logo is quite frankly kidding themselves. The only thing is he knows his product placement is wasted on NUFC fans and the revenue lost from using sports direct as the sponsor would be reasonable. Unless he made serious in roads abroad with both Sports Direct and NUFC it would seem pointless to me him doing this. I agree I think he will do it, but i don;t think it is particularly logical and would only really serve to massage his ego more I think you're overlooking the fact that we're a Premier League club and one that appears live on the TV fairly regularly. This isn't just about product placement with regards to NUFC fans, it's using the shirt as a global advertisment board and I can honestly imagine him believing that it'd be more worth his while to do that than sell the space to a third party. I think it's clear that sponsorship revenue is not being directly re-invested into playing personnel although that is personal opinion rather than anything else. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't believe Sports Direct currently trades outside of the UK therefore it seems pointless to me. Sports Direct is all over TV in this country and anyone who knows PL football in this country knows of him, his shops and that he owns NUFC, not to mention he has shops in every major town or city. What I am saying is unless he moves his companies progress abroad and expands the global brand of NUFC then Global advertising for him is worth nothing in comparison to the local TV Advertising which he takes part in now and he therefore would be foolish to expect one to take over from the other as suggested by someone else earlier on!

  14. 30 is what luton were docked. However they kept all their players and a lot of the players bet on themselves through third parties to win the league the next season and lost a shit load of money (I am only talking £1000 each or so but a lot when you don't get paid a lot). I know one of the lads who was at luton at the time and they seemed far too cocky for their own good!
  15. P.S, why is steve harper wearing tottenhams home kit from this season?
  16. If you read the article next to the picture ( in know the font is tiny) but it says there is also a limited edition one with a gold crest, so the normal shirt will just be the usual crest i would assume. Thank God
  17. Agreed. First saw the photos a month or so back and thought ye I like it (even though everyone else seemed to hate it) I now understand why
  18. Thanks for the early heads up. I now know to ignore every post you ever write about NUFC
  19. don't think Roy Hodgson's CV is all that impressive. Seems to struggle dealing with big players and ego's which would mean catastrophic failure as England Manager imho
  20. If we are gonna play about with the badge mind how about a ridiculous moto to go with it? I am plumping for something masculine like 'under, over or through'
  21. good news if true but not saying owt till its done and dusted like. Plus it means nowt obv after Carroll but for some reason, for all Nolan's quality performances he doesn't seem to attract much attention from other clubs which I don't really understand. 12 goals this season. Not too shabby like
  22. Dunno like it's sparked a good debate in my office
  23. South Korea has been done before. We should head North. Who does that twat who cried at the World Cup play for? If you no anything about North Korea you will know one of them leaving that country to tell the truth about Kim Jong Ill is almost out of the question. They can't even watch foreign tv in case they find out the rest of the world is not living in an indoctrinated dictatorship. I can't see any of them being allowed to leave surely! He plays in Japan already. EDIT: No, he's actually playing for Bochum in Germany. 10 goals in 22 games too. Really!!!! i am shocked by this. What is the point of censoring a whole country if they can then just leave whenever they want. I mean if you are gonna run a dictatorship do it properly for gods sake!!!
