I think it's going to take a lot of convincing to prove that Elliot is a Premier League quality keeper if Krul were to get injured. I don't see why we should be in a rush to get rid of Harper, he's always done well when called upon. How old is he now like? I think his main problem is he's been injured most of the season so he might feel it's time to call it a day. But he's been a very loyal Geordie servant to us and we should remember that.

Aye, it's never really left my mind that one, as much as I've tried to have Forest as my second team. They beat us just after I'd moved there in the Championship as well. That Solano curler was a beauty. A Laurent Robert first time volley against Coventry could it have been (?) has sprung into my mind as well. Sibierski became an absolute hero here
-
Ha ha, fantastic. What were you doing in the players' lounge there like? I've been in Nottingham the last couple of years
-
Oh aye of course! Completely forgot about Forest, I've written off the best of his career there like
-
Aye, obviously i never saw an awful lot of him playing cos he was at Villa and Pompey I believe, both of whom I have no interest in whatsoever, but I was wondering if my memory was deceiving me that he was just a handy little player

I think there's also the school of thinking that each player should be judged over a concerted period. Some of Duff's performances at Chelsea, for us and at Fulham go some way to negating his better form at Blackburn and to a lesser extent Chelsea if you ask me. Thinking of the best goals, what are some of the other crackers we've seen from Newcastle? That Oba Martins goal under Roeder at White Hart Lane springs to mind. Never looks quite as good as it was live, was probably partly influenced by the fact we were totally out of that game and then he just got the ball, raced forward and absolutely wallied it in.

Rob Elliot. The backup 'keeper at the minute

My article about The Toon and possibly finishing 4th

If that's your best article I'd like to read the others! Nah, I think it'll come down to the final game and we'll be in the Champions League spots so it'll all hinge on us beating Everton, which we will do easily. -
There'll be plenty time to get a few beers pre match before we spank Real Madrid at SJP next season!
-
Steve Stone, by the way, was he ever that great a player to be challenging as best right sided midfielder in Premier League history? Cos if so we really missed a trick there
-
Aye, that bloke oozed class every time he was on the football field. The things he could do with that ball...and his delivery was second to none. Didn't have a manager section to vote on, though it's a moot point cos Fergie'll walk it, went for all the ones to do with us (positively) in the various categories.

Exactly!

Damien Duff is there and Nobby Solano isn't...

I think I went off Reading cos we never got anything from the Madejski while they were up last time. Remember Michael Duberry? Agree with Birmingham or Blackpool - will be cheering on the Brummies cos of Hughton. Mind you, would love to see either Chrissy Hughton or Nolan back at SJP next season

Something just tells me that we're going to romp away with this one. I'm likely to be travelling while it's on as well which is a gutter. 4-0.

The biggest myth going is that promoted teams are struggling more and more each season. When was the last time all three promoted teams went down? How often do even two of the promoted teams go down?

Basketball is, after all, the dullest spectator sport on planet earth

***Official Mike Ashley Euro express thread***
rogerbarton replied to Baggio's topic in Newcastle Forum
With regards the Champions League push, Chelsea have a tough run in themselves in the PL - trips to Arsenal and Liverpool (who'll be fired up as always against them and want to prove something) plus a game against ourselves and a potentially tricky one on the final day of the season against a Blackburn side who I imagine will be fighting for survival. Arsenal's result last night only throws it wider open. I think it's there for the taking and we could be the frontrunners after the weekend's games! -
Interesting interview that. As you'd expect, he's got more of note to say in his mother tongue. Like how they have a good laugh over Pilkington's name as well
-
True. I s'pose the replacement striker had been our top priority for some time. Just a conspiracy theory of mine
-
Why sign a striker who fails a medical when your original target becomes available under your criteria? Now that Cisse is setting the league alight with his current form, it looks like a brilliant call. We've seen the transfer system - there's a clear list of targets drawn up in order of priority. Cisse took precedent over Maiga and so we didn't push through the signing. Looks like it was the right call, although who's to say that Maiga wouldn't have tucked away the chances Cisse has been scoring. Aye, I agree. What I was suggesting was that we may have been close to sealing a deal with Maiga before finding out that Cisse was available for a price within our range and then pulled the plug on Maiga blaming it on his medical. Let's not forget we've taken chances on other players with dodgy injury record - Ba, Marveaux, Gosling for example under Ashley.

It'd be absolute madness to let Pardew go and replace him with Moyes at this moment in time! Not sure Moyes has the brand of football and tactical wherewithal to challenge effectively at the top to be honest. He might be best off staying at Everton and waiting for someone with a penny to spend to take over.
