I've seen him play a couple of times. He has a good pass and is decent with the ball at his feet. Obviously, I wouldn't say he's anywhere near PL standard as yet. But he did look a class above at times during the GF for the first half of the game at least. It is very rare to see players with genuine ability in the A-League so they stand out like a sore thumb and this kid is definitely that. Given a few years and some quality coaching he could develop into a quality player.

He did say 'stupid' signing.

Shane Ferguson tearing apart international opposition

Only the genuinely thick would still claim that he is anything other than a good player. If he could cross more effectively (with his weaker foot) and score the odd goal, like CT seems to think he should be doing, he would be a great player and probably not playing for us. Thank you for starting my day off with a smile. "If he cross effectively and score the odd goal", he would be a good player you clown. Name some left wingers who are as strong, quick, and good on the ball as Jonas with great crossing and goal scoring ability. I think you'll find there are very very few. -
Next season's best XI with no new signings or players sold: Forster Simpson Colo S.Taylor Enrique Tiote Barton Jonas Ben Arfa Nolan Best So we need a backup lefback (youngster), backup centreback (youngster), backup centre mid (Dorrans), backup right and left winger (N'Zogbia? & Larsson), backup attacking mid (Ireland?), and a replacement for Best and a backup (Gervinho? & youngster). So that would be Dorrans, N'Zogbia, Larsson and Ireland to compete for first team position and Gervinho to replace Best, plus some decent young fringe players at the back and front. Can't see it happening but that would be ideal.

The more he is injured the better. Every goal he scores will be a reminder of what he could have achieved with Newcastle. So fuck him.

Deadman, do you play football?

If our net spend is over ten million in the summer (europe or no) I'll eat my shat. I think that if we were to qualify for Europe, Ashley would kind of be forced into spending closer to the £35 mill transfer kitty in the window. To me that would be the biggest benefit of actually qualifying.

With Sunderland losing it is a good result. Missed opportunity though. Kind of typical really. Good night from QLD.

..and hurts himself. Should stick to what he does best. Not beating an offside trap.

There's a reason you don't look behind you to see what's coming in a marathon. If the players set their focus on qualifying for Europe, by nature that will obviously save us from relegation. I can't believe anyone would see qualifying for Europe as a negative when we have a massive transfer budget (hopefully) in the summer to sign new players and the possible bargaining chip of European competition to lure and keep good players with.
-
Honestly, I think we need him. He's probably our best striker at the moment. Although he's not PL standard. If we could get to a situation where we wouldn't need him we would have to sign at least 3 players better. Not going to happen.

Now Gutierrez urges Mike to Splash the Cash

It's becoming increasing clear that the players share the same anxiety over what Ashley will do with the Carroll transfer money as the rest of us. Fairly too. -
Why? Because I'm opening them thinking I'm going to find something new and meaningful in them! When in reality it's just an agreement of what others said at the time What do you care for 'new and meaningful'?

This gets my vote. Total: 2

BOLTON: Of the three I'd say Bolton have the easiest run in.

having said what i just said, i think we'd actually do worse if we get into the europa league. league position wise that is... We probably would if we didn't have £35 million to spend in transfer fees to add quality and depth to the squad. I really think European qualification would force Ashley's hand. Kind of now or never situation.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has yet to give up hope of qualifying for Europe this season. Interview with Pardew Here's the table: Here's our remaining fixtures: Like Pardew says the Bolton game at the weekend is make or break since it will likely be between us, them or Sunderland as to who gets 7th spot. Assuming a team above us wins the Cups, that would be enough. Also, it looks like Ben Arfa will be back for the Wolves game on April 2nd, which will hopefully help out in the run in. Obviously it would be a massive achievement for the squad. Surely if it were to happen Ashley would have to keep the squad together and strengthen in the window. So what does everyone think? Realistic opportunity? Or just Pardew trying to keep the lads motivated with safety from relegation surely just around the corner?

Moved into a trash can with his mate oscar. Was a bit on the grumpy side though so he moved out again.

Must be just paper talk. Surely. No way in the world is that plank worth £10 mill. If he's worth £10mill Ameobi is worth £15mill. A £10 million signing would get us someone from Ligue 1 with real class that could perform well in the PL, not someone who over the course of their career has proven they can't perform in the PL.

Deserves to be taken at his word to be fair.
