Newcastle United v AFC Bournemouth - QEII Sombre Edition

You'll be glad to hear that Paul Merson is absolutely gutted. -
I'm hoping a return to normal interest rates might at least put an end to some of the more ridiculous asking prices out there. I've learned not to rely on any kind of sanity where the housing market is concerned though.

How are we not calling it The Queueen, by the way?

Sorted.

Better yet, let's all learn the Saudi anthem and sing that instead. All together, lads: سَارْعِي ،لِلْمَجْدِ وَالْعَلْيَاء !مَجِّدِي لِخَالِقِ الْسَّمَاء

Possibly several unofficial queues, all competing to be the queue that leads to THE QUEUE.

Yep, Southwark parkrun has taken the hint and has now cancelled already. We shall welcome the overspill with open arms at Hilly Fields tomorrow (while remaining duly respectful of Liz and her desire to have lots of people shuffle past her slowly).

How about "I'm Still Standing"? OK, maybe not.

Southwark parkrun might have to cancel on Saturday because part of the park is being used - not for the queue itself, but for the additional 3 miles of backup queueing space in case the main queue ends up exceeding 6.9 miles.

OK, my turn for once:

When it's a million people marching for another vote on Brexit, the RW media narrative is all "don't these people have jobs to go to?". Wonder how much of that we'll be seeing here.

They do indeed have their roots in proper actual Nazi stuff. Then again, so did Ace of Base and that never stopped them.

Turns out the Jedward account is where it's at this weekend. Who'd have thought?

Nice of Greggs to pay tribute to such a dedicated staff member.

I've sung it at medal ceremonies at the athletics and things like that. In that context I see it less as being about what the words are saying and more just a general thing for a Brit having won something. It helps that the anthem is so pathetically short and lame that it's over before you've had time to really think about it. I'd definitely have no problem with us doing a Spain and changing to a wordless anthem, mind. Probably be a lot less problematic all round.
