American Gladiators was surprisingly canny. The sheer daftness of Hulk Hogan helped a lot. Ian Wright though?

I sometimes wonder how anyone can afford to run a car at all.

This masterpiece has just been mounted on a lamppost right outside my front door: Firstly: "persons"?! At the risk of sounding Foppish, I fucking hate civil servant-speak. And secondly: can someone please reassure me that my temptation to take a permanent marker and change the word "POD" to "POO" is completely normal?

Ah, the intrigue, thrills and danger of a Gosforth upbringing. It made Smooth Operator the man he is today, you know.

Yeah cheers for that Martin, and how would you like it if I just called you a big puff?! I'd deflect it with a camp comment and a wink then cry myself to sleep about it, dahling, same as always.

With a house price crash and a macroeconomic downturn on the way, new-build inner-city tower blocks will be the sink estates of the future. Discuss. Or don't.

Revenge for denying her grandchildren or vice versa? She didn't know at the time (or did but was in a seriously well-crafted state of denial). Although thinking about it, she did sell it to some family friends for their son with whom I'd had a bit of how's-your-father a few years previously, so there could have been an interesting bargaining chip/blackmail tool in there if I'd been a bit more savvy at the time. Though I'm not sure how exactly. Oh well, it was only a fucking Clio.

Never owned, but after passing my test I drove my mam's 1995-era Renault Clio, which I assumed I'd be getting my hands on until she promptly sold it when I went to university. The heinous bitch.

Oh god. Bring back Sima and Stevie! (No, don't. Really.)

More tetchy about people who insist that anybody that the general public likes is shit, and only the people that they list (of whom 95% of people have never heard of) are the ones with talent. Pisses me off because it's bullshit. It is clearly bullshit to an extent, but the above is just as much a straw man argument as "Thompers says that everybody the general public likes is great and anyone who isn't well-known mustn't be talented enough to succeed". I don't say that though. Exactly.

Mind, there'd be less opposition to ID cards and the like in this country if they had the practical application of allowing us to drink more easily.

Too right. It used to only be the stereotypical stoodent paying for their groceries with a cheque, but the proliferation of Chip + PIN has opened up the world of annoying payment behaviour to a whole new audience of idiots.

BabyCream, £4 for a pint of Fosters ffs. Wait till the budget, inflation has pushed prices up a lot in the last year, but this year the Government are raising prices above inflation as well. To be fair, anywhere that already charges £4 for a pint of weak beer isn't likely to be too concerned about the development of the underlying prices/duties. Though I concede it may well give them an excuse to hike their end-user prices to, ooh, let's say a nice round £4.50. They'll probably make it £5, no need for unfashionable things like change bringing the place down then. Card payments only, then there'll be no need for a till either.

Duck Hunt! Ahh, there was this annoying American kid down the street who we used to pretend to like because he had a NES with a light gun. Happy days.
