  1. I'd be interested in that too. Saw them at Heaton Park (Sat) and Fools Gold was class; and it's not even one of my favourite Roses tracks. I'd be interested to see if Brown's vocals were better too. I have bootlegs from Fri & Sat at Heaton Park and he was awful at times on Sat. There rest of the band were fucking class though.
  2. This. I was at the Sat night of the Heaton Park gigs. Brown was flat for a noticeable percentage of the evening. Musically though - they were fucking excellent. The best way I can describe it; for all they had a16yr hiatus, they musically sounded like they'd grown up over that time - almost like they'd been touring all that time.
  3. Erm... I have no idea how it ended up in this Forum. I honestly clicked the help link, not NUFC. Might be something else in relation to this. In Chrome I can't quote, multi quote, post a reply, delete, hide or even edit a post. In fact, I can browse and that's pretty much it. Yet under Safari all is well. V Strange. If I can remember how to do it, I'll move this into the appropriate Help Forum. I consider myself suitably chastised
  4. I wondered how many of you had Macs? I've tried posting a few responses in threads and I can't seem to quote or post a reply using Chrome under OSX. I'm guessing is a code issue which only manifests itself under Chrome, as I can post using Safari. It's strange as I've never had an issue before. Anyone else got a mac who can replicate this?
  5. Good spot, I'll try to remember to log on for that.
  6. Totally honest response from Cisse when asked did he mean to score it - "Yes, I was getting tired and I didnt want t ball, so I just hit it"
  7. Aye, precisely. The cynics can rue the Wigan & Wolves results to name two; but getting 9/9 points against those three wouldn't have been in anyones predictions at the start of the season. I agree it sucks that we did drop those points given what they would have meant; but of course, the season could have been completely different anyway were it not for the results we did get.
  8. Honestly? It was better than the best sex you've ever had, or ever likely to have - ever.
  9. My mam's said the same since both me and wor kid were, well... kids. No prizes for guessing why - she's a nurse too.
  10. Yeah, I know; that wasn't my point. Seems a bit late seeing as we lost against Wigan (not been on since the above post) but FWIW - I never thought we'd finish 4th. Sat and did the numbers with a mate at work and I could only see us coming 5th at best. At the time my predictions were: Wigan - 3pts Chelsea - 0pts Citeh - 1pts Everton- 3pts The above was me being bold too. If the Salford Reds beat the Council house blues, then we might get the 3pts - but even then we still need the results for Chelsea & Spuds to go in our favour: a tall ask. After the Wigan defeat, I'm even more convinced by the 5th spot now. Regardless of all of the above - win, lose or draw: getting into Europe this season is fantastic and well above our expectations for this season. It's because of that, that I can't get too upset at not reaching the CL places. Part of me will somewhat 'philosophically' put it down to us not being ready yet. It will be a little frustrating though, given how poor Spurs in particular have been of late. Actually, whilst typing this post, I've noticed the results of today's games. In my predictor, I had Stoke v Arsenal as a draw and Chelsea & Spurs winning. The only result I didn't expect was us losing. Barring a twist fo fate it's 5th at best for us and that's still a great achievement.
  11. I can see why people would be disappointed if we were to finish outside the top 4 given the season we have had. I'd feel a tinge of disappointment because were playing so well and deserve it. However, when you look at the season overall and consider our expectations at the beginning of the season, European football of any kind is a fantastic achievement and thoroughly deserved. Part of me feels Europa league would be a better option because I think we'd fair better. Would a sustained run in the EL not be better (probably not financially) than a confidence battering early exist from the CL? I'm not necessarily saying the latter would happen, but it's a concern. I'd like to think a decent run n the EL might raise our profile just as much (if not more positively) than doing a Citeh and getting tonked in the group stages of the CL.
  12. I need to book a table at a good restaurant in Newcastle and need some suggestions please (its a while since I ate in town). Its for my parents as I've booked tickets for a gig at the Metro Arena. Not particular preference although Italian, Indian & Chinese are favourites. Any suggestions or recommendations form anyone? Ta, Steve
  13. QFT. Sums up my feelings exactly.
  14. It would be much appreciated if you would correct the error you have made Maggiepaws. Beyond a shadow of doubt I believe I am the oldest member of us all. My apologies mate. I've not been around these parts for a little while and I (wrongly) believed you'd left us. Pleased to see you haven't! On a separate note - for the record I don't want LM banning either and I don't believe any of us really do. As admins / mods, we just don't want to have to heavily moderate certain members (whomever they are) because of avoidable, tedious stuff like the continuous derailment of threads. People like LM contribute to this place and make it what it is - without it; it would be a far more bland and boring place. That doesn't mean to say I (we) want to have to suffer the other shit that goes with it.
  15. POWERMAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How apt that the creche should be first used for LM - the oldest member of us all
  16. http://www.acerdirec...004/version.asp Bought this last year for approx £330 and set it up as a Home Theatre PC. Works great through my 42"plasma over hdmi with the sound over optical through my amp. Works great to watch iplayer etc too at full screen. The version I bought has a 500gb hdd and 4gb RAM. The model shown in the link is the 2gb model with 320gb drive. I've setup XMBC on it so it works great to play all of your films etc. Selling it because I need to buy a NAS and the money needs to go towards it. I can remove my user and set you one up leaving XMBC etc installed, or I can do a system restore for you if you prefer. Will take £180 ono + postage of your choice. All original boxes etc, mint condition.
  17. Just confirmed on SSN as a £10m deal. I'm sat at home today, so in place of our usual correspondant (on indefinite loan to the US) I'll grab a pic on SSN and post it up.
  18. Just found out as I've been out all day. Awful news and I feel for his family. RIP. You were a great player and not just for us.
  19. Not at all happy about this. We wont even see the money as it's a paper transaction. Not that it matters, I'd sonner forego the £8m and keep the name thanks. Nice timing though, teams doing well and there's a 3 week break. Plenty of time for the furore to die down before the next match and the masses to have accepted it.
  20. Got my tickets for Sat too - really looking forward to this, but share some of the trepidation too. I missed the best of them first time around as I got into them more heavily too late (95). Their 1st album and the unapproved EP were both class. I quite liked Second Coming too - Love Spreads is quality. Ten Storey Love Song is probably my least favorite song on the album though. Their work revitalised the indie music scene imo. They were far more influential than the 'Mondays (their best song is a cover ffs) and were a much better band technically, musically and lyrically. They defined a generation and have influenced a load of bands, many of which cite them as such. I've seen Ian Brown live and he is awful live - he acts like a monkey and his vocals are flat. I'm hoping that he'll sort his shit out for these gigs - especially given that they are homecoming gigs. I neer got to see the Seahorses either but I did see Squire live for one of his solo tours. He can't sing to save his life either, but he's a quality guitarist. He can still write a song too. I'm not a huge fan of IB's solo stuff, but some of his lyrics are very clever, so I'm looking forward to the Brown/Squire re-collaboration. Squire, Mani & Reni are good musicians - so at least the music will be good. Reni's drum work is absolutely class - it really makes some of the Roses best songs. Cant.Fucking.Wait
  21. Never listened to these before - I thought they were a lot lighter? Almost pop-like? Anyway, I'm liking this so I'll take a look at these further. Cheers for the heads up. They're not exactly heavy, but they're not pop. Definitely a rock band. Bit more blues influenced than say Airbourne (by blues I mean more british blues rock than BB King!) Have a listen to these: The third one and the one I originally posted are about as light as they go I'd say. The new album has a bit more of a blues twinge in places. Quite like it so far. Very good live. They supported AC/DC on their Black Ice world tour, so saw them first at Wembley (knew their first two albums very well before then), but the sound wasn't great for them. Saw them later in one of the HMV forum type places in London, sort of mid sized rock venue, maybe 1-2k people (ish?) and they were fantastic. (I like them a bit!) Sold. I've grabbed their 3 albums. Annoyingly, the one I really want to listen too I can't find online - the live one. I'll see if I can pick it up in a shop somewhere.
