  1. The squad is better than it was then. But a good first team got us fifth with the least injuries over a season we've had in living memory. The squad we have with the signings in January should have no worries over relegation... especially if we bring in another quality striker. It will be club politics, power dynamics, internal wrangling and leaderless players that is most likely to become our undoing.
  2. You think Ameobi is decent? I love the lad and won't say a bad word about him... but he was poor cover in his prime. He looks like Foreman in his last few fights now.
  3. And on film 4 at 17.10 today. I've set my TiVo for it.
  4. Mad dogs was shit. I think CT would enjoy it. Anyone comparing it with the Coens or Lynch wants to hand in their critical credentials. At it's best it just about hits the heights of the very worst of The Ladykillers or Intolerable Cruelty.
  5. Watched last night. I don't think it shits on Inception at all, but I did enjoy it a great deal. Especially the Austin Powers bit when Bruce Willis told the audience not to worry about the science behind the time travel, about drawing diagrams and working out who is when and why, to paraphrase "none of that shit matters" and he was right.
  6. Can't be worse than Bet Butler.
  7. 13 games prior to the new guys debut (villa) = 7 points (on this form it's a 20 point season) 13 games following the new guys debut = 17 points (on this form it's a 49 point season)
  8. Fair play. It's the sort of two way communication I'm happy to see more of, not the wank soundbites they announce in the press. It's obviously not gonna be owt to do with dissatisfaction over new signings or Kinnear...but it might see some positive moves on issues like away allocations. Would love the club/league/fans to do more as a group about sky moving long trips late in the day as well.
  9. If Arsenal do get Suarez I'll be delighted I took them for the my long shot title bet.
  10. Santon playing reserve and first team games? EDIT: I'm also hoping Taylor will be usurped by Mbiwa if all 3 of our best CB's are fit.
  11. Then again... if Andy Carroll fetches £35m, perhaps £100m is cheap
  12. London... Not appreciated... Stabbed... Or no room for a home gym.
  13. Over a grand a year? Christ, i'd buy whatever equipment I was using at the gym for that kind of money.
  14. 20 more readers for a hundred...4 more flips for a thousand. Come on folks, have a look at my NUFC magazine... https://flipboard.com/section/newcastle-united-fc-bWgZ3W

  18. you seem to have ignored the point. Which group of players would you prefer to have. Those that arrived in January or those that have left this summer. If it's the former, then you agree the squad is improved on this time last year. If it's the latter then I can't see how you would justify that. All this is true while gladly agreeing that we remain frighteningly short of depth.
  19. Agreed. The new signings put in a load of Premier League appearances in the games possible after being signed... Sissoko - 12/15 = 30 games a season Mbiwa - 14/15 = 35 Debuchy - 14/17 = 29 Haidara - 4/15 = 10 Gouffran - 15/15 = 38 So, since we're keeping Cisse (36), we've lost players capable of 64 games a season and bought players that would extrapolate to 142. ..and they're better quality. If someone offered you the 5 players above or the group that are no longer available (Ba, Ferguson, Gosling, Harper, Perch, Ranger, Simpson & R Taylor) you'd take the new signings all day long. Saying the squad depth is better now than it was last September is not saying much though, we still need to sign players, clearly.
  20. Not yet. This is the first proposed bill and Obama needed republican support to defeat it, his own party were well against him. The Patriot act will not get re-authorised next time around in it's current form. I'm not saying it'll be dumped, but the oversight will get some tinkering at least.
  21. Remarkably close vote yesterday though. Where there have only been a few dissenters when it has come to renewing the patriot act in past years, yesterdays proposal was the first in over a decade to place limits on NSA overreach....and it was almost a 50-50 split. Only 12 votes gave Obama his victory. Shows the impact these leaks have had on lawmakers.
