  1. And that the Douglas deal is caught up in red tape. He needs to be a Twente employee till the end of August to gain Dutch citizenship. Which we'd need to get through the work permit stuff.
  2. Well played Brock. Spread the word of TT. http://www.readingfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10306~2829410,00.html
  3. I think he wins it because he got it in less minutes than Gomez.
  4. True, I get all my codes emailed to me though, haven't had a physical card in about 2 years
  5. Yup. I'm not sure why he struggles to understand the difference between goal-line tech and other technlogical possibilites. Goal-line tech is simple - it's either yes or no, the ball crossed the line or it didn't. No human error, no discrepancies, It is what it is. Introducing some sort of technology to determine if too much contact has been made on a player during a tackle would be taking it a step too far, for example. Let's face it the extra officials that were introduced have been useless and part of me thinks they've been told to be quiet for some silly reason, such is their inability to influence the decisions they're supposed to be there for.
  6. Came out and reinforced his stance on technology in the game too. Despite the fans wanting it, the players wanting it, the coaches wanting it, the referees wanting it (I imagine), the media wanting it, the sponsors wanting it, Sepp fucking Blatter (!) wanting it... Michel 'Clueless' Platini is against goal-line tech.
  7. Not that fussed if we miss out on de Jong tbh. Window has only just opened and there's loads of time to go. On top of that Gladbach probably need him more than we do after selling Reus so I imagine they're offering the better deal, and they can offer CL (playoffs at least) football as they finished a place higher than us last season. And he's more likely to be a guaranteed starter there as things stand too. We do need another forward if Best is off (on top of Lovenkrands), something which will become even more of a requirement if we cash in on Ba.
  8. Not read the previous page? edit; sorry, guess you have.
  9. It was never confirmed and the last article I read about it implied Hoilett wasn't happy with Gladbach's financial offer to him.
  10. And I think De Jong is back from his holiday this week so there might be movement there too.
  11. What will you say if we make the top 5-6 next season? "We've just had two good seasons, it won't last"?
  12. Also Anita sounds decent but I can't see us getting both him and Debuchy as that'd push Santon out of the side. And I wonder how much game-time Tav will get - if he stays at the club, that is.
  13. Sounds a fair price tbh. These reports reckon we'd be willing to go up to £10m for de Jong. Don't know if Douglas is worth £6m but as a package deal it doesn't look too bad. Then again we'd still need Debuchy or someone like him, so that'd be another £6m. Just talking hypothetically here but that'd be £22m which after Cisse in January would be a huge amount of money for the club to spend. If we sell Best+Forster for £5m then I can't see us not letting a big name player go to cover the fees for the new players, and I reckon said player would make us at least £7m (Ba?). So £12m, £22m spent. £10m transfer kitty for the summer. Sounds reasonable but I'm just speculating here. If you ask me we only 'need' 3 players as long as we don't sell anyone aside from the above; a striker (de Jong), WB (Debuchy) and CB (Douglas). Getting them and keeping the team as it is now would be some achievement. I also like to think that this coming season will be the season the likes of Vuckic, Ferguson, Tav, Sammy etc really make the step up.
  14. Hang on, he's only been linked to loan moves to Championship sides as far as I can tell, he's made a couple of league cup appearances which is fair enough for a teen in his first season abroad, he plays in a position we were genuinely already fairly well stocked in and no - hyperbole or not - I don't think anyone said he's anything like an "up and coming superstar". He's got potential is all I've heard. Maybe I'm wrong there though, who knows. Why aren't you fussed about de Jong? He comes highly rated and scored a lot of goals for a 21 year old. Is it because he scored those goals in the Eredivisie?
  15. http://www.readytogo...ad.php?t=712454 ... Oh and... uh oh! http://www.readytogo...ad.php?t=712590
  16. Or making even more money off of him. Either way it's fairly positive - I'd rather keep him, without question, mind.
  17. Well I know it's hardly 20, but Best+Forster leaving would bring in £5m by all accounts. If any of the big names leave I still think it will be Ba, so that's at least £7m there. I'd like to think there'd be about £5-10m in the transfer kitty regardless of outgoings. I've got a fairly good feeling about this window tbh, and I mean that even if we miss out on Debuchy, Anita, de Jong etc. They're not perfect but I do have faith in the setup. 2 things I've been thinking about: - If it were to happen (a huge if), bringing in Debuchy would be a big statement of intent and I'd also praise the club for being again willing to deviate from the supposed transfer policy of buying young players with the potential for a large resale value (Debuchy is only about to turn 27 to be fair to him, but if we bought him in it'd be a long term contract and I doubt his value would be at its best when he's 30/31). - We're not getting linked to CBs as much as I'd like. Indeed that Journal article CT posted suggested we're not in for one at all. I'd like to think this is partly down to the manager having faith in one of the younger lads making the step up. Taylor and Coloccini I'm happy with, but I'm naturally a lot less happy if one of them is out and if you ask me that position needs strengthening.
  18. I was 10 when KK left. Can't remember everything.
