  1. And he was either bluffing about injuries or he's playing players who are injured. Time will tell.
  2. Cynical me reckons that story is only out as a means of unsettling people ahead of tonight. Blob is out tonight as he or his partner is giving birth. Woodman will make the bench and Alnwick will deputize. I rate Woodman higher than Alnwich, but feel the latter is more suited to the first team at this stage. Good experience for Woodman though. Streete and Satka might get time tonight. No idea about the former, but worry that Satka is too light weight.
  3. The English defence first game has destroyed him. Needs to get himself out in the summer and into a team where he can focus on his strengths as opposed to wasting energy on areas of the game he is woeful at.
  4. Quick thought I've had for some time about how Pardew is guilty of misusing knowledge. Knowledge: Most goals scored from corners are not scored by the player who first makes contact with the ball. Misapplication: Pardew develops a corner routine that focuses on getting knockdowns to create these secondary attempts. We scored below, an admittedly already low, average on goals from corners for 2/3 seasons and hardly ever deviate from our flawed tactic. The mistake was in creating the conditions artificially as opposed to the secondary attempts occurring naturally as an indirect result of players attacking the ball. Most of these secondary goals are scored from knockdowns, rebounds, deflections by teams who were actively attacking the corner kick and looking to score directly. By creating a strategy where our players weren't looking to score until the knockdown, the whole game changes. Opposition managers worth their salt identify this and ensure that a defence is carried out accordingly. Agree/disagree? I have a similar viewpoint about his thoughts on possession. I.e. most goals are conceded from lost transitions, therefore we focus more on defence than ball retention. Might type that up more coherently later.
  5. Going to have to strongly disagree, cos I've never seen him have a good game at #10, compared to what he can do from the right wing.
  6. Well of course the number 10 role wasn't going to work out. Anybody who has watched HBA play in the last 5 years knows that. Managers are thick as mince.
  7. Myths about Cabella bubbling up now. Not good defensively according to the commentators, which is bollocks. Tackles, ball wins etc. highest in our midfield at times this season. Was a risk taking Gouffran off. The guy whose man scored the goal. The guy who gave the ball away for the goal. The guy who offered nothing in possession all game.
  8. Gouffran's man scored that goal. Tiote and Colback well out of position opened up the space.
  9. He's gaining confidence by the minute, but still not as comfortable with the ball as I've seen in those highlight reels of his time in Spain. Bloody love him.
  10. Colback blazing over the bar when a simple square pass was on - utter anguish.
  11. Don't even know what Gouffran was attempting with the ball on the edge of their area. Seemed to surrender
  12. Would rather be able to win the UEFA Cup. Or Cup Winner's Cup.
  13. No, I'm still watching a well lubed stream. You definitely have my attention now.
  14. He was an utter liability at LB. Can't remember the specifics, but I'm sure part of his LB spell coincided with some dreadful runs of results. I kept banging on about how utter dross he was in possession and his vulnerability against pace. And to those who reckon he's worth a shot at CM. Did you see his performance against Man City? Their midfield made him look well out of place. Looking decent against a shitty QPR midfield isn't difficult, but try him against an actual midfield and he'll look the player he is. Can strike a FK though.
  15. Was chasing down a counter when he injured himself, which his oafish misplaced pass instigated. Find this all rather bizarre. The lad is nowhere near as good as being made out, never was and never will be, injury or no injury. His best bet would be to sustain a career ending injury, then people will look back at a player who should have won the ballon d'or were it not for cruel, cruel fate.
  16. On Ayoze. The lad's general play outside of the box is very, very raw. He's in the side because of his superb box play and that's OK with me. Even though he didn't score today, he got himself two chances and produced competent attempts. Plus he showed signs of improvement in his overall game. I hope we continue to find room for him and he grows into one hell of a player. Oh and QPR are really, really, really shit. At what point were Willo and Dummett tested today? Did Krul even make a notable save?
  17. Dunno, we were only 2 players short of the team that won 2-0 last weekend and our 11 was comfortably superior to a team that has lost every single away game this season. 1-0 is not good enough at home to QPR. Cannot keep scraping through against the dross, it's unsustainable in the long run. We all know Pardew has a tactical set-up that does a job on the opposition attack and that it works well against the top teams, but he's had 3/4 seasons now to sort out a system that can beat the lesser teams far more comfortably than we manage.
  18. Don't forget this gem lads: “The right hand side of midfield, if we didn’t need him through the middle, is probably his best position. I don’t think, with the team at the moment, that he’s going to play out there when Obertan is playing so well, so it’s about him adapting his game."
  19. Urgh, now Colback is on set pieces. Corner number 1 goes straight to Green
  20. Should have taken Gouffran off for Cisse.
  21. Cabella off   Fucking deranged.
