  1. No one is buying it anyway, it's just a story to tell themselves. They're the same as Trump in a way in terms of outlook. All about portraying themselves as victims whilst at the same time throwing their weight around unopposed with their media influence and unchecked financial might - all of which was received for just being 'very good at business, and therefore more deserving than everyone else'.
  2. How have Bayern, the same Bayern who were protesting about the spending power of the Premier League a few days ago, just spunked £70m on Jackson?
  3. Well, we clearly aren't that fussed about Isak leaving if the only conversation going on is a mildly animated squabble about typos. So that's something.
  4. Sunderland have just had a medical signed off for a guy who underwent it in the Netherlands though so even that is a bit irrelevant by the sounds of it. Maybe that's a risk of course but even so.
  5. Why does anyone need to physically be here to sign a contract?
  6. Aye. There's nothing left to be said on Labour really. What a time to be alive, to watch all stripes of the government cower and pander to ignorance rather than tackle it head on.
  7. Apparently that £30m on Osula is a club record fee for Frankfurt... are we missing something here?
  8. A better mind than mine will need to answer that - but presumably if he's out of contract then he's no longer a cost.
  9. This is the logic if anyone wants to interrogate it more than I have. It seems reasonable but I'm not an accountant.
  10. I'm not going to pretend to understand it but the numbers people on reddit are essentially claiming that Isak going for £130m means that our spending this summer from a PSR standpoint is essentially neutral, therefore we could in theory go again with a similar window next summer as a result. Also he's mentioned that Greek keeper is only here until 2026, just as an aside I wasn't aware of.
  11. ewerk absolutely savage this morning
  12. I have been working on the assumption that we knew Isak was likely going to go for a few weeks and have delayed the incoming of the two new executives so that their time here doesn't start off with implied responsibility for this nonsense. So I'd hope they're announced in the next week or so.
  13. It is what it is. But never let the fuckers see you bleed man, don't give them the satisfaction. Come on, there's nothing 'bad' that can happen from here so we may as well enjoy what is left of the transfer window. We'll bounce back and we dont know how this might look in a year or two.
  14. Feel like we should be rivalling Spurs for Mainoo tbh but maybe we're overstocked in CM now.
  15. Wissa not a bad outcome all things considered but I greedily hope we get one other player in too as it will properly disinfect the whole thing.
  16. If he did that then AT LEAST it's cost him something. And I could sleep a little more soundly.
  17. Was going off this from reddit which seemed fair enough: There are two transfer fees going around for Isak, one £130M and the other £125M. If you don't care to read further, TLDR: Newcastle make £98.1M in PSR headway if the real fee is £130M and £93.6M if the real fee is £125M. Detailed Breakdown: Alexander Isak was purchased for £63M and a 10% of future profit clause. He was signed on a 6-year contract, amortized over 5 years. This can be calculated by dividing £63M by 5. £63M / 5 = £12.6M Isak played for this club for 3 complete seasons. Which means, those 3 seasons worth of PSR can wiped off the books. £63M - (£12.6M * 3) =£25.2M. This £25.2M is an amount that we will not be getting back. There's 2 reported fees £130M or £125M. Regardless if the fee is £130M or £125M, we have to deduct the £25.2M. However, we can't forget Real Sociedad's 10% profit clause. £130M fee - £63M = £67M profit * 0.1 = £6.7M £120M fee - £63M = £62M profit * 0.1 = £6.2M Now, we can calculate the final number, in terms of PSR headway made. £130M - £25.2M = £104.8M - £6.7M = £98.1M or £125M -£25.2M = £99.8M - £6.2M = £93.6M
  18. Have reflected on this a bit - it's a fucking bitter one to take and we're all going to be reeling a bit from it after essentially making the guy an icon here, but in the end it's close to £100m on PSR, so essentially the same as a winning the Club WC. You do imagine we could do quite a bit with that given how purchases are spread over contract lifetimes.
  19. Ultimately it hurts more for us than it will do for the club, they'll have been pragmatic about it. Maybe they're wise enough to understand that their own failures at the board level have contributed to this and that's where the effort goes from here in terms of avoiding outcomes like this in future. As for Isak, he's a pathetic excuse for a human being but I doubt he'll care what we think. Maybe one day when it's all over.
  20. Apparently Villa just missed out on Paqueta so it's possible they might be in for Jackson too (I know it's not like for like, just desperate).
  21. Only alternative I can think of is that this is an olive branch to Isak.
  22. We probably have everything worked out already with Brentford too tbh. I genuinely think if this goes through from here it'll all have been wrapped up in the past couple of days and then stage managed from there.
  23. Well, that's the club effectively reaching out to Liverpool then. How annoying.
  24. It makes me wonder if, in years to come, we'll find out it was all a bit like WWE. Not completely, but enough to take the edges off the idea of balanced competition. Or maybe we're all just paranoid, who knows.
