Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Rayvin replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
We are very reluctant to ban. We usually rely on the community to just hound people out if things get extreme It does happen rarely but honestly there'd always be a few civilised conversations beforehand. It's a small community of generally likeminded people, and the mod team sort of just keeps a lid on it rather than attempts to set direction. -
Yeah but we can go at it without pressure because our best friends at Sky will ensure we're a complete afterthought in the entire build up.
-
We can beat Liverpool. Just need to go at them without fear. Only slight concern is that we might give them a reminder of our intensity at Anfield beforehand. Think I'd rather those two games were the other way around.
-
How long have they been lower league trash now? A decade?
-
I'd forgotten they existed.
-
Why has he left Chelsea off that list mind Not saying I think he'd go to either, but I'm not exactly sure why Arsenal are a better choice than Chelsea if he wants some soulless London club.
-
I still feel new and I've been here fewer years than all 3. 12 years on this forum now...

The rest of you old men had gone to sleep tbf

I think Renton is just bouncing off your statement about H&S speeding things up, and saying that because everything we build here is done so slowly, we must therefore have no H&S Not that H&S slows things down.

So to be clear... Trump has cut US aid to all countries other than Israel and, at Israel's behest, Egypt. I wonder which nearby country is about to be blackmailed into taking 2m refugees. Israel needs to get the fuck out of US politics, or it needs to be thrown out of it. This is fucking madness. Israel and Egypt are the only two countries in the world getting US aid right now. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jan/24/foreign-aid-israel-egypt

I mean this is a group of people who have spent 70 years resisting ethnic cleansing so yes, you'd imagine there'll be a response. Quite possibly from the entire Arab world tbh.
-
I'm sorry but, how are actual American citizens just letting this happen. All just standing around while their country becomes an imperialist superpower that engages in ethnic cleansing. Not even MAGA voted for this shit.
-
It really is interesting. Surely she can't have been convicted on just what was written in her journal though?

This Chagos island stuff is starting to piss me off a bit like. Didn't the Tories start that process? What are they all crowing about exactly?
-
NO, I WANTED YOUR IMAGINED FUTURE TO BE THE REAL ONE!!

Wasn't there some suggestion that the SoL might be considered? Ground will never have been so full. And they were famously hospitable about it last time, we could probably redo the whole place in black and white.
-
I've been saying this for years mind
-
There's some suggestion they're going to relent on young people getting freedom of movement back at least, that's a step in the right direction. I don't know the timeframe for it of course, but still.

Sorry I know, I was just evidencing the point for you..!

https://www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/article/farage-aims-for-2029-youthquake-as-teenage-boys-fall-for-reform-x08xc86c2 "Nigel Farage will probably be 65 by the next general election, but his talk of emasculation and a failing state seems to be resonating with some future voters"
-
I honestly think it's the latter with the caveat that it doesn't necessarily mean that we can't kick on or that they won't fund the important things (stadium for instance), just that the club and team still needs to work hard to deliver and PIF need to believe that there is a return on what they spend. I think I'm ok with that reality anyway as any success will feel earned rather than cheated.

Even I wouldn't have voted for Corbyn if he'd gotten into bed with Cummings to railroad us into leaving. Corbyn backing a second referendum is the only reason I voted for him that time out.
-
Fair, I do get this.
-
Chelsea have had to do it by selling hotels though. How many more of those do they have to shift? It's not sustainable. Man Utd fair enough but then imagine the same situation without PSR - they'd still be spending into a recovery. Spurs fair. I think in the end though, that if the pattern we're seeing this season holds up into future seasons, it's hard to argue that it isn't PSR. You could look at this season as merely transitional I suppose, but those transitions are coming around more often and taking a lot longer. The dominance of the top 6 doesn't seem as assured as it once did.
-
I think my counter to this would be that if no one in the PL can afford Isak because of PSR, it's not helping the big boys hoover up the best players in the way they used to. It's also seemingly producing teams like Bournemouth and Forest who can challenge far higher up than they would have been able to previously, because mismanagement from the big clubs prevents them from spending their way out of trouble. Whatever it was intended to do, it does not seem to be doing. The big 6 seem to be on shakier ground than ever before...
