  1. Occasionally I wonder if the reason Diego seems to know so much about basically everything is that he is in fact an AI.
  2. Signing of the season: Tonali Top goalscorer: Isak Most assists: Barnes Biggest surprise: Team finishes comfortably 3rd or higher. Best Young player: Anderson hopefully. Player of the season: Isak PL finish: 3rd CL finish: Out to first European elite we encounter but maybe get away with it until the QFs. Trophies? Don't see it with the CL in there too but if it was going to be one of them the more likely is the FA Cup
  3. Glendenning was on MBM for the Guardian for this one. Based on his current level of spelling ability I would say he's drinking away the grief.
  4. The idea that Villa were anywhere remotely close to us was always laughable and based spuriously off a single result in a purple patch they had last season We look utterly superb. I was not even surprised when we got a 4th and 5th, it felt inevitable. Granted, it's just one game. Two tough ones ahead which will temper expectations potentially. But fucking hell, we look immense.
  5. Update later reads: "No further developments at this point"
  6. Absolutely wish him well. That departure statement seemed really sincere and in my eyes he's a true friend of the club and was a bright spark in the dark times. Good luck ASM.
  7. Moreover the mackems are literally tearing themselves apart over this. He was meant to be the chosen one... We don't need to pass judgement here indeed, all of Sunderland is doing it anyway.
  8. Also hard to get worked up about this anymore given that there is literally no political will to do anything meaningful about it. I mean I'll keep voting for the right side of this, but it just doesn't matter beyond that what I do. This is eventually going to come down to a simple reality I think - do we get to viable fusion power before climate change dismantles human society. No one else is going to do a damn thing, that much is clear - so either science saves us, or we cook.
  9. That is surreal, are we supposed to hearing all of that or not? All that stuff about coffee sounded like she should be off mic or something. How difficult is it to just bullshit your way through that question anyway? "Yes, the area has a look of affluence to it but actually there are indeed some areas within our community that suffer what is perhaps a hidden level of deprivation in certain places, and it is important that we are aware of this and sensitive to the needs of these people." Fucking hell...
  10. At least we're not selling him to a PL team because you know damn well that if we ever did, his 2 games of being unstoppable every year would be against us.
  11. Aye, we need to wait for Le Tissier to come out and tell us what the craic actually is, he's the oracle of our time after all.
  12. It's been an interesting back and forth nonetheless
  13. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/jul/17/labour-mps-keir-starmer-tories-two-child-benefit-limit Labour will not get rid of the two child limit on Universal Credit payments. Apparently to do so would cost £1.3bn, but would also lift 250,000 children out of poverty. Just over £5000 per child. Or to put it another way, Labour deems a child in poverty to be worth less than £5000. EDIT - apologies, I misspoke - That's 250k children out of poverty, and a further 850k out of deep poverty. I don't really know what deep poverty is compared to poverty, but either way that reduces the per child cost significantly. Removing this cap is apparently the most cost effective way of dealing with this issue.
  14. Yeah, on reflection I guess that was an inevitable series of follow up posts
  15. Is it just me or has the text to gif ratio on here swung over in favour of the latter in recent weeks. Xgifs at an all time high.
  16. Am confused. Is he guilty or innocent? It looks to me like he's just been determined to be not guilty, so why is this lad on twitter claiming that all these footballers liking the post are doing anything wrong? Huge disclaimer on this post - I haven't followed the story.
  17. Starting to think we need to sign someone more for social cohesion on the forum than for the club itself ffs
  18. Have no real sense for how good the Russia league is but those numbers are decent. Is it better than the Scottish league?
  19. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11329469/Suella-Bravermans-tofu-eating-wokerati-rant-full.html Not going to derail the thread further but for absolutely clarity for those who don't know my politics, I was taking the piss.
  20. Can't believe Musk is attacking free speech like this. Restricting what people can see ffs. A card carrying member of the tofu eating wokerati, clearly.
  21. Fair enough, but as a ressurance, no one on here is going to call for bans except in the most extreme circumstances - and even then there's a good deal of hand wringing about it. We prefer to hound people off the site rather than ban them, from what I've seen We've let mackems run amok without doing a damn thing other than setting essembee on them (they probably would have preferred to have been banned). We've let wums of all stripes sign up and have a go. The only person I can recall us banning in any recent history was Quiff and there was good reason behind it, unfortunately. We're not a ban-happy community at all. As for AH, I don't think I've seen him make a fully serious post in the entire time I've been on this forum
  22. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that AH calling for bans is probably not meant to be taken seriously
  23. I'm rapidly losing interest tbh Wake me up when we actually sign someone.
  24. Done. It's an interesting issue, good luck with the study.
  25. Labour are locked in on this strategy now so I don't see the point in complaining anymore. I won't vote for them unless their manifesto convinces me that for all the damage they're currently enabling, they're actually going to be a net good via other factors. I have no real hope of that but we'll see where it goes. I'd be really interested in comparing New Labour's general political position with the one Starmer appears to be taking up. I'm tempted to say the latter would be on the right of the former, but that's just speculation for now.
