  1. Is that because of all the rational arguments put forward for staying in? At least you're consistent.
  2. 13m is better than 8m I guess. That said, fuck off Pardew.
  3. Presumably coming as no surprise to anyone, Sunderland is one of the most Eurosceptic cities in the country, because: “We’re being taken over by foreigners,” he said. “People from Israel, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria – they all end up living here.” Smoking under a plastic shelter away from an unseasonably arctic wind, a colleague, Mark Willshire, pointed out that none of those countries were actually in the EU. But Winyard’s mind was made up: “My great grandad fought for British independence. We shouldn’t let foreigners take over now.” And of course: Kevin Guthry, 59, who is on the Nissan apprenticeship scheme as a condition of collecting jobseeker’s allowance, said he too would be voting to leave. “Look at all these lads,” he said, gesturing with his lit cigarette, “these lads are here because they can’t get real jobs because of all the immigrants.” Guthry is a life-time Labour voter, but not any more. “I don’t like the new leader. It’ll be Ukip for me next time.” Working at Nissan not being a real job, apparently.
  4. Fair enough then, I see what you're saying.
  5. Dunno you know, most of the board meetings I end up going to are populated by people who don't have a huge amount of intelligence. I think Ashley is a particularly poor example mind you, but being a CEO doesn't make you intelligent. I don't think my CEO is massively intelligent, but he'd sure as shit not come out with "I can't control what goes on in my company". That's what he's fucking there to do Granted his staff can make mistakes and he doesn't have individual oversight, but he has more control than anyone else there - he needs proper reporting mechanisms to flag these issues up long before something like a Parliamentary committee is required. My guess is he has no interest in how various aspects of his company operate and, as with Newcastle, looks only to the bottom line. I suspect he's going to resign as CEO at SD and hand over to someone who would spend more time being bothered about these details. Ultimately, his issue is that he can't be arsed with it.
  6. I remember that too Was the Spurs game I think? They clearly pay no attention whatsoever. Hopefully it's the same for everyone and not just us though.
  7. That point on its own is absolutely laughable As if any CEO can reasonably argue that point and not expect to be sacked the next day. If I went into work and claimed that the departments I was responsible for hadn't been performing, but that it wasn't my fault because there were too many to keep on top of, I'd be sacked and replaced with someone who could keep on top of them. Ashley is immune to this of course, given his stake in the company, but still.
  8. This is starting to worry me actually. Is he failing so badly that he's starting to draw sympathy...? The Guardian seems to think this might be the case.
  9. The only real silver lining with sissoko is that he's blown his chance at the CL. At least in terms of teams likely to make an impression on it. He'll know that and hopefully it'll hurt.
  10. Why has he chosen to wear his Newcastle tie ffs. Dragging us into it...
  11. This sounds gripping, I'm pretty devastated I'm missing it
  12. I'm stunned that this is legal. A loophole presumably. Thanks for the updates though, I can't follow it at work.
  13. Yep, but people don't understand that. All they can see is Turkey gaining to access and the millions of extra people who would be coming in. Ultimately, regardless of my own views on it, if politicians had dealt with the wider public's concern about immigration properly we'd be in a much better position for this referendum. As it is, the establishment only has itself to blame if we crash out. As enjoyable as that would be to watch normally, on this occasion we will be burning with it. Crazy stuff.
  14. I'm not a Brexiter, but I think the idea is that it removes 'freedom of movement' and therefore eliminates the potential for every individual in Europe to simultaneously up sticks and head to the UK. I'm not saying that's a rational argument, but I believe it's the one they're making.
  15. I suspect you're right. The more I think about it, the more I can't believe how lessons weren't learned after Scotland. The Tories have no plan B whatsoever, it's project fear all the way with them. Who knows where we'll end up but the only thing any of us can do is make sure we go out to vote.
  16. I think they'll unravel though - DC and Osborne won't survive this unless it's pretty convincing. Which, rather terrifyingly, leaves us with...Gove? Johnson? May?!
  17. To be honest, I think it's becoming really difficult to hold a solid opinion with all the doom mongering going on. I'm sticking to my guns and voting in, but I can see both sides of this.
  18. Ahhhh Thanks Gemil, I don't think I ever would have got that.
  19. Conversations with you are surreal I was asking you the question, although even if I wasn't, what does 'One m' even mean?
  20. Who shows Championship games then? Which network?
  21. Does...does this answer my question?
  22. I would, on principle, refuse to do business with Pardew, were it up to me.. Especially if a part exchange deal for a player who has potentially been 'Pardewed' is involved. Hopefully we can sell him to someone more deserving if he is intending to go.
