  1. I read the other day, but in no means from a reliable source, that Cabaye had a buyout option in his contract which comes into effect this summer at roughly £6m. If that was true, we're better off getting rid now.
  2. We currently have 83 guests viewing the forum. Whenever the number is that high it makes me wonder if something relevant to Newcastle has just happened (i.e. we've just lost to Sunderland etc). I wondered if we'd managed to sign someone or something, but I can't see any evidence for this. That being the case, what could they possibly be here for? And why am I so curious about everything?!
  3. Just out of interest, is Fellaini injured or just not being played? If it's the latter, that's a damning indictment of the Moyes era right there.
  4. There will be people who think like this though.
  5. True enough but I don't think I've ever seen Tiote as assured on the ball as he is now. He actually takes on his man from time to time, turns well, and can spray passes around well, etc. Given that his MO used to be crunching tackles and play disruption, it's actually interesting to see. Also getting booked far less this season (or it feels like it anyway).
  6. Thanks for the insight, it's a bit before my time. Interesting that Hillsborough had such an effect but then I guess Dalglish always did come across as very emotionally invested in the club. To the point of being blind on occasion.
  7. Weird to think that Guardiola might equal that this year... Although tbf, I guess both Ancelotti and Mourinho could as well. Did Paisley build Liverpool from the ground up in the same way that Ferguson did though?
  8. To be honest, I don't think Cabella is the same kind of player as Cabaye. I think he might be nearer to Ben Arfa. With that said, maybe we're going to change our approach and have flair players running around behind the forwards.
  9. What...what is the Putin crab supposed to represent?
  10. Yeah I think this might be a psychological battering too far for Moyes... EDIT - Imagine if we steal 7th in the next week or two. There'll be hell on.
  11. Agreed, he had one decent game against Sunderland but has done little else. I think the main thing is that he's the only player at Man Utd that looks like he's trying.
  12. I think we can safely assume that AVB was not helping Spurs.
  13. I can't find that stat on their layout, which will mean I'm looking in the wrong place. Just be interested to compare it to a few others. Have no real context for whether or not 33 is good.
  14. I'd be interested to know how he fares in 'chance creation' mind you; as you say he doesn't tend to get assists, but he does start a lot of our moves.
  15. I'd rather have Cabaye too. I'm just asking what he's worth.
  16. I agree actually, he allows us to play through the centre because his passing is so good. I have to say that Tiote has stepped up massively, he looks very confident on the ball these days and has a decent eye for a pass himself.
  17. Seriously? I can't quite believe that sorry... Or I just don't want to.
  18. Yeah it would be, also likely the quickest - which makes me wonder why firing squad is deemed 'not appropriate' and 25 minute chemically induced deaths are ok. And Parky, yes, I would have a lot of concern about a justice system run by private corporations. We're starting to see that over here now as well and it's just open to abuse. What happens if the 'just' action isn't profitable?
  19. Not to tempt fate but what do we think Cabaye is worth? £25m? Presumably we'd get about half of that back to spend elsewhere.
  20. Ah ok - but still, they appear to be scrambling around for anything that'll do the job now which will deplete supplies elsewhere. I just find it abhorrent, it's entirely about revenge and I don't think that justice ever should be. I understand that emotions run high and that a lot of the people who die do a lot of awful things but I just can't square with it. Brings us down to their level IMO.
  21. What is he doing there though... the thing is he probably did play well, but the only thing I can remember him doing is that run from defence which immediately made me nervous as no one on the rest of the team seemed to know what was going to happen. In contrast, MYM manages to get upfield, has good control and retention, but then gets back down again when things go wrong. He can be relied upon more if he pushes up. EDIT - And Williamson just doesn't push up.
  22. Fortunately for us, Man U can't guarantee him Champs League football any more than we can.
  23. Very true but that execution was disturbing. The chemicals used are supposed to be for treating severe medical conditions; I read that it takes 100 times the dosage to kill someone than it does for treating patients. So they considered killing this guy to be worth 100 treatments to sick Americans. They're running out of drugs because the EU won't sell them any that can be used to kill people. What happens then? What about the people who need this medication? That's to say nothing of the morals of state sanctioned murder.
