  1. If we're thwarted by the ineptitude of Leeds after Burnley's daring escape, it's going to be a huge fucking let down.
  2. Aye - if Burnley win today though it makes no difference whether we beat them or not irrespective of what happens for the other two. If Everton beat Arsenal then they're staying up either way. Burnley lose today and we're stuck with potentially having the fate of Everton football club on one hand, and beating Burnley for the hell of it in the other.
  3. They're taking it well... [Poor language removed] this 5 back off Frank you clueless weapon [Poor language removed] this. Absolutely [Poor language removed] disgraceful They are corrupt as F these refs; had that yellow out straight away. If an Everton player does that it's red...We are down...it's done...I'm done with these C; they can just F off. Omg I'm going to cry, how am I going to work with us losing the game If there was any slither of doubt that this game wasn’t fixed, I think we can lay that discussion to rest now
  4. Think I might head over to GOT and see what sort of [Poor language removed] they're in.
  5. So we want Burnley to win I guess since that means we can beat them on final day without it keeping Everton up. Can't believe it's going to the wire like this after they beat Chelsea ffs
  6. Why are we so determined to move Dubravka on, I don't get it. I can't recall a single point in this season where I thought "if only we had a better keeper". He's not good enough for the future maybe but I really don't get why he's being ushered out the door ahead of others.
  7. I would imagine Henderson is relevant to the 'home grown' consideration since by the sounds of it we'll be fielding a half Brazilian team by the time we've got a couple more windows under our belt.
  8. I mean tbh I feel like they've been lowering expectations from the start anyway - yes there was talk of winning things but it was very much pitched as a 10 year project as far as winning the league goes. I actually don't think it would take that long if we spent well (assuming City and Liverpool current generations slide into decline together) but they've not said at any point that they were going to throw money around as far as I can recall?
  9. I especially like the bloke who rules himself out because volunteers have to be over 17 and he'll have his niece with him How does her presence prevent you from waving a bit of cloth around you fuckwit.
  10. I predict one of two things: 1 - It won't be as incriminating as we hoped, but will represent the bare minimum level of police effort to draw a line under it. 2 - If it is as incriminating as we hope, it won't really matter anyway.
  11. It's an interesting one because if we don't spend ambitiously we'll be less able to sell the vision of a 'project' to these players at the level we need to bring in - equally though I really don't think we are going to do a Man City here despite what the world seems to think. If we can get Targett, Nunez (or similar), Paqueta and a centre back, then I think tbh we've probably achieved all we need to for this window. ÂŁ150m maybe if we're clever? If we go for a keeper maybe more like ÂŁ200m.
  12. Apologies if this has been linked already: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/may/12/lionel-messi-saudi-arabia-deal-tourism Messi is taking money from SA to be something of an ambassador It is surely now not possible to approve of Messi in any capacity for all football fans "concerned about human rights"
  13. Fair enough, I don't know the guy at all and Wikipedia makes some mention of him having been a left winger at one stage, guess I just got stuck on that.
  14. He's a left winger right, so a replacement for ASM? Or maybe one or the other of them could play on the right..? I'm not convinced all this noise is leading to a transfer mind

Aye. I will say though, fair fucks to them for digging in this season and playing their best to get us out of the shit. Grateful to them all for helping the club to move on from the rolling nightmare of Ashley.

It is a good article, and an important one. For all the limitations of the team, for all they had been led by a donkey for the past two years, I'm not sure we ever doubted that they were trying, for the most part. I felt a bit sorry for Lascelles in particular in the post-match celebrations. He's putting a brave face on it but I'm sure it'll hurt him that he's not likely to retain a starting place nor continue captaining the team - if indeed he remains at the club at all. There's no way for everyone to be happy in the end and they're professional but still. Players like him, Hayden, Ritchie, all good servants and likeable people. If they do go on from here I hope they have satisfying careers.
  17. I think top left and top right from those. They have the look of a serious European club. The middle magpie one is maybe more charming but I don't think has the same gravitas.
  18. I don't mind any potential change, I just hope it's not overly simplistic.
  19. I sort of missed the period when Stevie was a regular on here - was hanging around a bit in the first couple of years I was here but then had his medical issues and stopped signing on. Never totally understood the dynamic he had with everyone here so was always pretty quiet about him but honestly my feelings from the very start were that he was one of the most insecure people I'd ever "seen". I mean yes, we're all insecure, but fucking hell man. Some people on here did him no favours by buying into it IMO, and I doubt any of you would do so now based on how things seem to go with other posters That said, and not that I knew him beyond seeing a few of his posts, but I wish him well wherever he's ended up. This thread is painful to read though
  20. Newcastle is one of the nicer cities in the UK, IMO. The architecture along the quayside and into town regularly surprises people who visit me. I'm biased of course though.
  21. Why is a keeper such a priority for us? Dubravka has been fine and I don't see how we can keep two good keepers happy..?
  22. One of them comes out with the 'on the beach, we'll smash these' at some point in the thread and another one of the posters keeps tagging him periodically through the game at moments when we're dominating or scoring with comments like "we'll be ok, <user> says they'll be on the beach". Maybe 10 to 15 variations of that I also loved the guy who came out with "Are we playing Bayern Munich?" midway through the first half
  23. https://arsenal-mania.com/forum/threads/pl-newcastle-2-0-arsenal-monday-16th-may-ko-20-00-bst-sky-sports.35471/page-5#posts Curiously the thread starts off with the more sensible posters who were dreading us, and then the numpties get onto it and you get people predicting that they're going to put 4 or 5 past us, and that "their team isn't going to lose to a defence with Dan Byrne (?) in defence and Joelinton up top". The spurs thread is worth a read too if anyone is interested - I only skimmed it but they were celebrating our goals almost as much as we were by the sounds of it https://thefightingcock.co.uk/forum/threads/the-race-for-4th.43533/page-246
  24. I loved this match, I love this club (feels like ours again at long fucking last), and I love this team. I don't care if we ever win anything, this is what I wanted us to be again and it's back already. Just reading through the Arsenal forum match thread and they're all sat there laughing about Joelinton being our biggest weakness, how they've got nothing to worry about etc. Then the shock hits as they can't get the fucking ball. "Newcastle won't keep up this intensity, the crowd will shout themselves out, we just need to survive this then professionally dispose of them". Then we scored and they were all talking about how we were going to park the bus More stunned silence follows as they still can't get anything going and we go on to get a second. We're not some lower league makeweight happy to even be at the same table as you, Arsenal fans, you condescending pricks. When you come up here we absolutely will be going for the win, and you're gonna have to dig a lot fucking deeper than you just did to walk way with anything at all. Or you're going to get battered up and down the pitch, as you just were. Beautiful stuff, I love it. Great way to sign off the season and a shot across the fucking bow for the rest of the league.
