1. Of course people are free to talk about anything they want about NUFC on this forum, but seriously, this is getting like Groundshog day. Don't people ever get bored with typing the same stuff, over and over again? My suggestion is we make a new board called "Has Shepherd done a good job at NUFC", because this is getting ridiculous.
2. I think tickets are more than that aren't they - nearer 30 squid?
3. Anyone got a picture of Souness with Boumsong, Faye and Luque for Gemmill to hang on his wall?
4. I agree as long as it doesn't detract from the important point, our performance. I'm a bit overly sensitive to criticisms of the referee because I swear to God the twat that sits in front of me is only interested in going to the match to shout abuse at the ref. It's so distracting it's driving me mad, it's non-stop and incessant, every single match. Of course, this twat can spot an offside at the Gallowgate end much better than the linesman, and of course, we should get awarded every single decision going. Naturally yesterday I thought he was going to explode, but unfortunately this never happened. Still, if he keeps up his referee-hating antics rather than give one ounce of support to the team I may be forced to garott him with some clothesline. 108261 Where do you sit Renton? Cos the bloke that sits two from me sounds exactly like that. He'll make more noise if the goalkeeper doesn't take a free kick in his own area from the exact spot than if we fucking score. 108444 I'm SJH level 4, Access 13, about half way between the away fans and the Leazes goal. Mind, the whole ground is full of knackers like the one in front of me.
5. They should test drugs on dogs in dog borstal tbh.
6. Should be more subtle tbh. Username: Jack Location: Wearside
7. I think it's clear where his commitment lies from his interviews. Agree with you he is commited when he plays, but I don't see a long-term committment form him. Besides, I think the money we could get from him could be much better invested in the team, starting with acquiring the right manager. He's a luxury we can't afford right now.
8. Hoaxers are a huge waste of resources for the police, fire service, and ambulances aren't they Rob? I thought up to 50% of calls to the fire service were hoaxes. Which is besides the point. Do you not care that his action might have led to the deaths of innocent women? Do you not think he needs to atone for this in some way?
9. This might sound harsh, but I hope Owen has a great world cup, raises his value £20M or above, and then fucks off to another club where he can take the piss.
10. No - I really think this the sort of person who shouldn't be inside - he's an idiot but I really don't see what good adding another body to our overcrowded prisons is going to achieve and since its been years since he did it originally i can't see how punishment NOW is going to stop other idiots doing the same in the past or in the future 108352 I completely disagree. But out of interest, what do you think should have happened to him if he was caught red handed 25 years ago?
11. That's more like it, I didn't have you down as a Borstal boy, for some reason. You would imagine that sort of thing is more likely to fuck up a life than solve any problems, for what seems like reasonably ordinary boyhood mischief. I'm mostly just playing devil's advocate, although I do believe some of these more controversial ideas would work better than what we've got. I don't see the point in getting involved in debate to point out how right you are and how wrong everyone else is, it's not like we're actually going to change anything on an internet forum (or anywhere else for that matter). 108351 Well I was thinking (on a related note) the other day about how my view points on crime and punishment are becoming more right wing and conservative. Believe me, this horrifies me, but I can't help swaying to the idea of much more severe punishments for some of the scumbags that live round here. I'm just reacting to the environment I live in I guess, sometimes I really think I need to get away from this place before I become something I hate.
12. I'm guessing that if hoaxers stopped to consider the repercussions of their actions they wouldn't do it in the first place. If they're considering that lives could be lost due to their actions but at least they won't be affected then I'd happily advocate a bullet in the head, to be honest. I don't feel too comfortable with punishing people purely on the basis of us getting our pound of flesh. It's a real shame what happened to your mate, must have been a repeat offender, did it do any good? I reckon Crime & Punishment is something we should get seriously philosophical about. 108340 Welll I lied a bit, he wasn't really a mate, just someone I knew (from another school). From the little I knew of him he actually seemed OK, I have no idea if he had previous or not but I assume so. Don't know what happened to him, but it seemed incredibly harsh to me at the time. Yes, we could certainly get philosophical but it's Monday, I've got a headache, and I'm counting down the minutes until Leazes/HTL joins in and it becomes a slagfest.
13. Is justice about crime prevention or exacting revenge, though? If putting him away serves no preventative purpose then it's blatantly vengeance and nothing more. 108337 Well not locking him away would say volumes to would-be hoaxers, wouldn't it? Without getting too philosphical about crime, order and jurisprudence, I believe people should pay for their crimes, yes. Usually this has the added bonus of deterrence and allows for rehabilitation. If this man is truely repentful for what he has done, he should welcome the sentence tbh. Btw, to put this into perspective, one of my mates once got done for setting a fire alarm off during a school exam. He got 2 years in a young offenders institution. On the basis of that, this hoaxer would die in jail.
14. His actions potentially cost lives, and certainly cost probably millions of pounds of taxpayers money. Punishment is part of the function of the penal system, as is deterrent. Not the sole function, but an important aspect. The fact it happened over 20 years ago does not make his actions any less despicable. In fact, the fact he never came forward and to this day has continued wasting tax payers money makes it worse.
15. Without wanting to sound disrespectful, is flying the flag half-mast for the death of a local comedian not many of us have heard of really appropriate? Surely such a gesture should only be made when a significant ex-player or manager dies, or there is a national or international catastrophe? Just a thought.
16. Pleaded guilty I see. Hope he gets at least 10 years. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/4825002.stm
17. The reaction to the goal around me was delayed because we all assumed he was offside, as usual. Has there been a falling out in the dressing room then?

19. Time and time gain we are exposed for what we are against the top teams - mediocre at best. Even under the so-called glory days under Robson we could never really compete with the best teams, you have to go back 10 years before we could. It's fucking depressing considering the fortunes we have spent, and whilst I don't want to start another tedious Shepherd argument, how can anyone but those at the top be held resposnible for our predicament? We just have to accept we will always be an also-ran club, pretty depressing considering our phenomenal support. As far as the referee went, so what? He was inconsistent, made some bad decisions, but he made no impact on the result of the game. The truth is we were completely outplayed and could have lost by more. I said a few weeks ago we shouldn't get carried away by Roeder's apparent revival until we played the big 3. Well, it looks like we have got our answer and I'm gutted.

Yeah I would rather have him in the team. Don't like the bloke and I think he was very stupid in his behaviour that led to him leaving the club, but he's better than what we've got. 108107 So are you admitting Souness was wrong to bin him then? 108117 I'm not getting into the Bellamy/Souness, who was to blame thing again because no one agrees on it - I'm sure you wouldn't agree with what I have to say, put it that way. But it's all been said before so it's a waste of time. Shame I answered the question whilst you were predicting I wouldn't though, titheed. 108121 Tbh that's fair enough, I don't want to get into this obsessive-Bellamy complex some people on here have . Canny player like.
21. Not at all. I don't mind Liverpool as a club, but was pretty depressed to see that we really now are a very mediocre team. It will take one hell of a manager and a lot of money for us to catch up with the likes of Liverpool now. Anyway, did you notice the flag at half mast? 108116 Aye, I wondered the same thing. It was at half-mast a couple of week ago and it wouldn't surprise me if they've just forgot to raise it again. I hope Liverpool never win the CL again too btw. Will they ever fuck off with that we won it five times song. Knobbers. 108120 Seriously though, I heard other people mention this, but would we not be even worse? From a personal point of view, I would, in the incredibly unlikely event we won won it.
22. I was looking after my nephews on Friday night and they chose "Sky High" from the DVD shop. I was pretty skeptical about it but it was really good as it happens. It's a Disney film primarily aimed at kids but with plenty to give an adult a laugh too. Basically, it's a cross between the Incredibles and Harry Potter, with noticeable elements of other films like Mean girls and Pretty in Pink. So not original then, but it combined all these elements really well and probably surpassed all the films it plagiarised. So if you're baby sitting kids, or just want to watch the first decent non-animated Disney film in years, try this.

I'd be interested to know as well. Don't expect an answer though.
