Should Dyer be considered a regular starter?
Renton replied to Django Reinhardt's topic in Newcastle Forum
Yeah, I'd just hate to see him actually win something. Desperate to see him fail, me 60006 Not being funny like, but the manager is judged against the results and performances over a certain time period versus expectations. The expectations are set by what the club wants to achieve, and they base that on how much financial backing has been given to the manager and the state when he started. If the Board is happy with a bottom half finish and a cup win, then Souness is successfull. I'd be disappointed however if this was the aim of the Board, as it's a fairly low aim, the League being the proper guide to a teams quality. While everybody wants us to win a cup, the dire performances over a long period of time, and a bottom half position in the table to me indicate the manager has failed. It doesn't make Souness a success to win the League Cup. 60495 Thank you HTL. That's exactly what I meant. Think of all the managers and players over the last 51 years that you really wanted to see win a domestic competition at Newcastle who didn't. And what is going to happen, one of the worst managers the club has ever had will be revered for being the man to bring a domestic cup home to the club, albeit probably the league cup. Shearergol and Alex, my witty friends, I also won't be disappointed if the club actually wins something but I will be disappointed with the next generation and the one after that holding Souness up as a successful manager for a club that deserves so much better. 60500 I agree with that. But it's not going to happen anyway as I doubt we are even capable of winning the league cup. -
You'll have this turning into a 20-odd pager at this rate you pair of mongs! 60260 Who gives a fuck, at least it gives the bandwidth something to think about.... 60262 Aye but the bloke that did the coding is a complete mong apparently. We'll go into meltdown! 60264 True - he's absolute shite! 60271 Erm, Craig..... 60340 I know it's an old joke, but are you sure you're not the same person?

No i was fucking my manager who was just a normal duty manager, this was the big boss. 60344 I guessed this was a different lass like 60347 Well worked out! 60353 It was a lass then? 60354 Well she had an opening down below, although it was always clothes on shagging from behind over a desk! 60373 Fucking hell, too much detail man. Tell me more.

It does feel fake 60352 Don't start doubting your own existence or you'll short circuit.

60257 Brilliant. The easiest way to end an unwanted relationship.

Not getting any tbh. 60253 There's nowt seasonal about that 60255 I can empathise with that like. 60259 I can sympathise with that like.

I think it's both tragic and sad, I just don't have much sympathy. I really hope I don't sound callous, because I'm not that type of person, but much worse things happen to people every day and unlike Best, they have no choice. 60233 Fuck me Renton you had the violins out and were claiming (erroneously as it turned out) that GNER were going to be doing you out of a Xmas present this year. I'm withdrawing my sympathy herewith 60241 I'll be eating nothing but boiled potatoes while you scoff your organic turkey. Bollocks, you're a veggie aren't you - that doesn't work.

This is what infuriates me - if he could give up for a year before the transplant, why did he start again? He obviously thought to himself it's OK now I have a nice new liver. Anyway, the doctor's got it wrong on this one, I hope they weren't swung by his fame.
-
And he shared that fantasy with.........you? Must have been a close friend like! 60209 He shared it with me and all my mates. He lives in London now. We all reckon he's a nuffter but have no firm proof. 60228 Have you been whooshed?

Yes, he has managed to completely knack a new liver in three years, I imagine that takes some doing. It is sad, but it is difficult to have sympathy. 60208 I have no difficulty whatsoever in feeling a lot of sympathy for him. It's not like he made a conscious decision to become an alcoholic. 60214 No, but he didn't take the steps he needed to deal with his addiction, despite his hugely privileged position (he's not going to die in an NHS hospital, is he?). I lost sympathy when he had the transplant. He was given a miraculous second chance, but chose to ignore all the warnings and his vows and pissed it away. In retrospect it was the wrong decision to give him that chance, and I am sure his actions will probably have a negative effect on other alcoholics today. 60220 Well, I feel differently. 60223 Fair enough, but do you agree, with hindsight, he should never have been given a transplant? He had all the help imaginable - his mother died an alcoholic (most people would stop drinking if that had happened), he had money, access to the best medical help, he was under public scrutiny, he had a beautiful loving wife. There comes a point when you have to take responsibility and face your addictions - he is the only person to blame for his fate, hence the lack of sympathy compared to people who really don't get a chance.

Any sadder than a smoker dying of lung cancer or a fat bastard dying of a heart attack? 60198 I wasn't playing top trumps tbh. 60200 I know, I was just curious, that's all. It does seem more self inflicted somehow, but is it really?

You can imagine Best being involved in something like that himself when he was younger. Personally, I think it's a bit sick as someone will be happy when he dies.

Maybe they'll issue a Greenall style transfer.

To HTT? 60114 JJ to cover the wedding? 60115 As long as HTT doesn't write his own vows; the wedding will go on for days. 60137 Or make a speech at the reception.

I got a phone call from a gorgeous ex-girlfriend of mine the other day. We lost track of time, chatting about the wild, romantic nights we used to enjoy together. I couldn't believe it when she asked if I'd be interested in meeting up and rekindling a little of that 'magic`. "Wow!", I said, "I don't know if I could keep pace with you now! I'm a bit older and a bit balder than when you last saw me!" She just giggled and said she was sure I'd rise to the challenge!!! "Yeah" I said, "just so long as you don't mind a man with a waistline that's a few inches wider these days!" She laughed and told me to stop being so silly! She teased me saying that tubby bald men were cute! "Anyway, I've put on a few pounds myself!" she giggled................... So I told her to fuck off.
