The FACT! is, I don't think one person can argue with that statement. That being the case, Souness' time must surely end now? What is the point in keeping him on; so he can spend another astronomical amount on a player in Jan of the ilk of J.A.B that wont take the club another inch forward??? If things don't go well against Villa, the crowd have no alternative but to ask for him to be removed. 61841 He won't be removed until the end of the season, and he'll work with Shearer in January to bring in the players Shearer wants to work with next season, I reckon. 61847 You're probably right, although that doesn't mean it's the right decision by the club. But if results do continue as bad as this, and we slip down the table (despite having virtually our full team), then I can see him being booted out earlier. It's fairly obvious that Shearer is already the man behind most our signings, he doesn't need any "help" from Souness.

I'm sure I heard Best say once he didn't want sympathy, which is fair enough, because in all honesty he doesn't deserve it. He was a brilliant player but he was not a nice person as far as I can tell: personally I regard infidelity a pretty disgusting act for one thing, especially if it's constantly repeated. Now he's dead and he's had his one minutes "appreciation", I hope people's sympathy can be diverted to those that truely deserve it, and that may include other alcoholics who have never had the chances Best had.

Seriously, what's that supposed to mean? 61670 Nowt man, you puff. I just threw it out there to see if it got a reaction. Enjoy Busted-for-twentysomethings. 61674 Oh Franz Ferdinand are uncool then? This from the man that has seen Coldplay several times!

My GP wants to give me one, because I need to take salbutamol once in a blue moon. Madness, they're obviously over stocked.

I read this post fearing it would be an assasination attempt on Shearer, but thankfully it isn't. I agree to an extent; I think he should get Mike Newell as his number two. Still think he can play a few more games though - with our strikers we have little choice anyway.

Seriously, what's that supposed to mean? In fairness, I don't really give a toss anymore, hence the fact I'm posting more on general chat than on here. Everythiing's been said several times, even people like you Gemmill are slowly dawning on the fact we are basically crap. We're in limbo, and will be until we get rid of Souness. Now, instead of wasting money on Everton away, I decided to spend it on the Franz Ferdinand concert instead. Right decision I think, see you later.

So how far was today from where we should be? 61664 Skol's the odd one out there - the other three are confirmed optimists and I think generally pro-Souness. Another question - when was the last time we beat a decent team in the league?

Rikko, do you not like Chemistry then? I really loved the subject, and found it incredibly easy as a result. Unfortunately starting Medicine at Uni meant there was no way to take it further. Anyway, you're right to be doing it, there's not many jobs available to Geography graduates - I think most end up as PE teachers. 61646 Didn't know you studied medicine - are you qualified, or do I take it you started but dropped out? 61663 Passed my pre-clinical exams, and then dropped out for a lot of reasons - partly my own bad health (resolved now thankfully) but more honestly because I didn't like patients! I then focussed on research, getting a degree and PhD in pharmacology. I now advise GPs on what drugs they should use amongst other things - basically evidence-based medicine, if you ever get interested in that I'd be happy to give you some pointers in it. The Maths (i.e. statistics) came in useful in the end.

I did maths and Chemistry in my First year and despised every second of chemistry. It requires you to apply good sense rather than straightforward logic. I'm sorry, but I can't do that. 61649 It's beautiful man, I love the way that it's so logical. You can predict how an element will behave just by looking at it's atomic structure.... Biology is a complete bastard in comparison.

Is it Love Plus One by Haircut 100? 61645 I don't know who deserves the bigger slap. Souness or you, for that attempt! 61647 Ans Gemmill, thanks for the "thrashing the car" reminder - one of the highlights of comedy anywhere ever! And nothing like me....

I wonder which is the worst?

With a maths degree at 2:1 or 1st, you can expect a start salary in this country of about £20k, with the sky being the lonb term limit. 61541 I started on more than that with a 3rd like. It's a silly question though. 61631 It is definitely a silly question. Depends entirely on what field you intend to go into. What is the accepted career path for someone with a maths degree btw? Is there one? 61636 That's actually an important fact; it might be boring but I would recommend most people should try and do vocational subjects, even if it is something as boring as accountancy. Having said that, I think a good degree in maths will open up many doors, unlike Star Wars studies.

I don't think anyone is 'Pro-Souness' anymore. Even those of us who were willing to give him time (which is not the same thing as being pro-Souness) have reached the end of our tethers. 61627 If you were pro-Souness, then surely it meant you thought he would succeed ? Anyway, I'm just getting more and more tired of him all the time. I just can't wait until he's gone. The few wins when Owens goals saved us are just a blip, there will be a few more of those to come, but he's on borrowed time now. 61629 Exactly, he has these mini-successful periods, but they are inevitably followed by longer and worse slumps. Anybody with any nouse at all can tell there is fundamentally something wrong with NUFC under Souness, despite our good-on-paper-players. Can I ask a genuine question? When was the last time we had a really good league performance? Have we actually had one under Souness? No, I don't think we have. We have wasted 2 years with this incompetent fool, and yes, that pisses me right off. No Basil Fawlty antics needed.

I agree with your prediction Gemmill, and I'm honestly probably less pessimistic on how Shearer will do than you are, although I agree it's a risk. The sad fact is though we are going to have to put up with this shit football and shit results for some time it seems. Not trying to pick up points, but this is basically what I thought would happen when I heard Souness had become our manager at the airport. I honestly don't think I over-reacted (which, btw, was more a shake of the head and an "oh fuck" than the full scale Basil Fawlty impression you imagine). 61621 I heard you were thrashing the back page of the Chronicle with a tree branch. I hope Shearer is a huge success, but with him being an unknown quantity I can't say that I'm expecting him to be one. 61622 Have you ever met him personally though? I have, and he's nothing like his TV persona. I reckon he's got a lot in his favour - he's intelligent, he knows the game, he can attract top players (we've already seen this), and he I reckon he can be ruthless. Of course he is unproven, and I'm aware that most players don't make great managers, but I've got a feeling Shearer can buck that trend. We'll see, probably.

Another example of someone who was made a moderator to keep him there. 61292 All of the Baron's best stuff is stolen from Something Awful anyway. There was one time he posted a thread on one version of the board that was a direct copy and paste from a thread on there. It would've been okay if the thread on there had been started by him and he decided to spread his material around, but no. 61330 Got the link? 61340 I would if I could, this was back on an older version of the board, this was before the reboot that led to me having to register as Radioactive Man. All I remember is calling him on it and him never going into that thread again. 61343 This is unfortunate, as I was coming into this thread to basically confirm quite a bit about your feelings on the inner workings of N-O, and the childish attitude there. But apparently childish attitudes are a dime a dozen. But it's the internet, so why should I be surprised? I'm getting pretty sick of the banter there, but what's the point of coming here if this is the atmosphere and backbiting that one has to deal with? *sigh* This sucks. PS. Steve - That's a load of shite TBH. 61505 Oh come on, it's only banter. Why don't you give us your side on Steve's post anyway?

I think it takes a special person to be good at Maths, and these people are often poor at other things. They often lack social skills for instance. I did A level Maths and it was by far the hardest subject I ever did, because I'm not mathematically minded. Chemistry and biology were a piece of piss in comparison. Still have nightmares about integration, mechanics, and imaginary numbers. On a seperate note, I was told that the pass rate to get a C in maths A level is now 17%. That's an absolute disgrace if true.
-
That was an utter disgrace, it's blatently obvious we won't get into Europe with Souness in charge. I mean Everton ffs! And of course, Souness has the perfect excuse with the penalty miss. Seriously to the pro-Souness crowd, how do justify this performance?
-
It's simple really. You've 'come' across it alot, it's just you've gone blind from wanking too much and the binoculars would be a bit hard to grasp due to your hairy palms. 61566

I suppose Shearer is to blame for Kluivert's chronic lack of fitness is he. Bitter fat pie-eating dutch bastard tbh. And anyway, the person who should take the blame is Souness, not Shearer. Is he too weak to select the team he wants?
-
To be fair it was just a repeat of a documentary made in 2002 though. 61453 Even so, it's a bit cynical to stick it on the moment he pegged it. 61474 Why though? I imagine a lot of people wanted to watch it - I did.
-
Maybe you need a better pair of binoculars 61472 Maybe it's because I'm not a dogger!
-
anyone else notice the over-emphasis on the word female in that post? 61470 Definitely over-compensation, like he's protesting too much!

How come so many people have been caught having sex al fresco, but I've never come across it before?
