60257 Brilliant. The easiest way to end an unwanted relationship.

Not getting any tbh. 60253 There's nowt seasonal about that 60255 I can empathise with that like. 60259 I can sympathise with that like.

I think it's both tragic and sad, I just don't have much sympathy. I really hope I don't sound callous, because I'm not that type of person, but much worse things happen to people every day and unlike Best, they have no choice. 60233 Fuck me Renton you had the violins out and were claiming (erroneously as it turned out) that GNER were going to be doing you out of a Xmas present this year. I'm withdrawing my sympathy herewith 60241 I'll be eating nothing but boiled potatoes while you scoff your organic turkey. Bollocks, you're a veggie aren't you - that doesn't work.

This is what infuriates me - if he could give up for a year before the transplant, why did he start again? He obviously thought to himself it's OK now I have a nice new liver. Anyway, the doctor's got it wrong on this one, I hope they weren't swung by his fame.
-
And he shared that fantasy with.........you? Must have been a close friend like! 60209 He shared it with me and all my mates. He lives in London now. We all reckon he's a nuffter but have no firm proof. 60228 Have you been whooshed?

Yes, he has managed to completely knack a new liver in three years, I imagine that takes some doing. It is sad, but it is difficult to have sympathy. 60208 I have no difficulty whatsoever in feeling a lot of sympathy for him. It's not like he made a conscious decision to become an alcoholic. 60214 No, but he didn't take the steps he needed to deal with his addiction, despite his hugely privileged position (he's not going to die in an NHS hospital, is he?). I lost sympathy when he had the transplant. He was given a miraculous second chance, but chose to ignore all the warnings and his vows and pissed it away. In retrospect it was the wrong decision to give him that chance, and I am sure his actions will probably have a negative effect on other alcoholics today. 60220 Well, I feel differently. 60223 Fair enough, but do you agree, with hindsight, he should never have been given a transplant? He had all the help imaginable - his mother died an alcoholic (most people would stop drinking if that had happened), he had money, access to the best medical help, he was under public scrutiny, he had a beautiful loving wife. There comes a point when you have to take responsibility and face your addictions - he is the only person to blame for his fate, hence the lack of sympathy compared to people who really don't get a chance.

Any sadder than a smoker dying of lung cancer or a fat bastard dying of a heart attack? 60198 I wasn't playing top trumps tbh. 60200 I know, I was just curious, that's all. It does seem more self inflicted somehow, but is it really?

You can imagine Best being involved in something like that himself when he was younger. Personally, I think it's a bit sick as someone will be happy when he dies.

Maybe they'll issue a Greenall style transfer.

To HTT? 60114 JJ to cover the wedding? 60115 As long as HTT doesn't write his own vows; the wedding will go on for days. 60137 Or make a speech at the reception.

I got a phone call from a gorgeous ex-girlfriend of mine the other day. We lost track of time, chatting about the wild, romantic nights we used to enjoy together. I couldn't believe it when she asked if I'd be interested in meeting up and rekindling a little of that 'magic`. "Wow!", I said, "I don't know if I could keep pace with you now! I'm a bit older and a bit balder than when you last saw me!" She just giggled and said she was sure I'd rise to the challenge!!! "Yeah" I said, "just so long as you don't mind a man with a waistline that's a few inches wider these days!" She laughed and told me to stop being so silly! She teased me saying that tubby bald men were cute! "Anyway, I've put on a few pounds myself!" she giggled................... So I told her to fuck off.

I know you're taking the piss, but he's not been all bad has he? It's not all down to him they are a shit team is it (although they are only 8 points below us)? Chomp etc. Where's Grimbo?

Send him to the glue factory tbh.

Actually, you are brilliant at diplomacy, unlike most people on here. Those article are absolute crud 90% of the time! 60070 The one with Shepherd as Mussolini and Newcastle as a dictatorship was sensational! 60078 I think I read part of that one. Was it by GazP? 60085 I think you'll find his full title was Gaz Pearson Writer Newcastle-Online 60086 He took some right stick for that didn't he! As for JJ; he's not the only one. Is JawD still around? 60107 I was thinking that yesterday, seems to have disappeared.

This thread has a start? 60103 Yes, but has it an end?

Nicely summed up. Also, it's not really that new is it? When I was at Uni in Liverpool years ago. a lot of pubs had licenses until 12 or 1, and many of the clubs were really just pubs anyway. I thought Newcastle also had a few late licensed bars? And there will still be bugger all public transport after 11, so I reckon most people will just head home anyway. 60029 Are you agreeing with me? 60054 Don't be that surprised, I agreed with Craig two days ago.

I though Alex's comments on broonalegeordie's avatar at the start of this thread weren't the most diplomatic like.

We're not quite up to N-O standards yet.
