I completely agree re: where we were and the future I just think it's delusional to pretend finishing last place was a good thing, which is what a lot of people have convinced themselves of. I always assumed under Keegan and Robson after each disappointment we'd win something at a later point, and we never did. I know things are genuinely different now, but my guess is our history is giving me nagging doubts.

But nothing about last night was positive, I absolutely do not understand why people think being out of the EL - a European competition we absolutely could have won and qualified for the CL through - is a good thing. Saturday is a huge game now we will have to pick ourselves up against opponents in amazing form. Massive pressure now for Tuesday night, we lose that and I personally think silverware is gone for another year and I really don't see us getting top 4 this year unfortunately. WIn that though and I genuinely think we have a chance of silverware but then again - Liverpool. This isn't being negative, just objectively how I see it. Hope we can strengthen in January, that may change things.

Those sums of money could literally save childrens' lives in this country, for instance the recent decision by NICE that life-saving treatments for Cystic Fibrosis are too expensive. Save a child's life or fly some poor soul to Rwanda? And then it emerges that because Rwanda can't be trusted on the issues of refoulement, asylum seekers that are unsuccessful in their application will be sent back to the UK. So we get rid of the genuine ones but keep the dodgy ones! And of course, we know how Rwandan officials will be incentivised. Requests to embed immigration officials in Rwanda have of course been blocked on grounds of Rwandan sovereignty.... "But it's a deterrent" they say. But, apart from the fact they talk up Rwanda as some kind of utopia - so how can it be a deterrent - as they have the capacity to take less than 1% of the people on small boats how can it possibly be a deterrent? And yet this batshit policy (Cleverly TM) is absorbing all the govenment's entire bandwidth at a time of continued crisis. And it's doing fuck all for them in the polls. At what a bunch of miserable bastards you all are. My current work spends a fortune on two events a year, christmas and summer. As we have multiple offices all over the UK and Europe, people are flown in and have hotels paid for. Usually the events are held in Newcastle as its the biggest office and probably the cheapest UK location, so fortunately I don't need to travel often. Thing is, I don't think its too much effort to actually meet people in the flesh occasionally rather than on Zoom/Teams. The food this year was outstanding. I stay for the meal, and then leave the kids to it. Mind, in my old job you had to pay for the christmas meal. FUCK THAT.

On Friday night I was at a pub quiz, and I was sitting next to a person who's now ill and who's tested positive for covid for 2 hours. From recollection we shared pens etc. I was feeling really ill at work yesterday with a tight chest, streaming eyes, sneezing fits. But I've tested negative and I reckon my symptoms were caused by the selfish fuckers bringing their stinking dogs into work. Also I had a booster a couple of months ago. Anyway, it's still out there and an issue, although probably more an excuse to malinger tbh.
