It's mad. With FoM, you had young people from the EU filling gaps in employment and returning home after a few years or on a seasonal basis. Reciprocated with our kids of course. Now we have entire families arriving from different continents on visas, and they are not returning. And of course, lets face it, they are the wrong colour and creed for the average Brexiter. But few will admit they are wrong even now. It's been an utter disaster and nobody can even talk about it now.

The Guardian has published some graphical data on immigration. When you look at this one (legal immigration, >95% of it), you can see the effect of Brexit clearly. Net decline in Europeans now, "expats" forcibly returning (often older people who need the NHS), and an exponential climb in non-Europeans, mainly from India and Nigeria iirc. I'm gald all Brexiters are getting exactly what they wanted.

Doesn't have to be. As Fish said, you can get it cheaper if you avoid school holidays (English schools), so I would think you could get it cheaper in Scottish holidays. The cheapest weekend is the one after New Year which is quite a good way to avoid the trauma of early January (as there are plenty of indoor activities). Foreign holidays are another thing that have shot up in price anyway. We're simply getting poorer as a country relative to everybody else. In 5 years, we will on average be poorer than the Polish. The poor in this country are much poorer than in Poland already.

Just caught the end of a party political broadcast by the Conservative party there. Basically the whole thing seems to have been quadrupling down on their tax lie. This is almost mackem levels of obsession at this point. It did make it a bit more clear it was 2k over 4 years though. 500 quid a year (obviously less in lower tax households), or 10 quid a week, per household. Maybe a cup of coffee each. I mean, is this the best they have, really? I'm really happy for them [Labour] to meet their pledges for this amount. I read somewhere that tax has risen 13k over the period these cunts have been in since 2019!

I do that now with family and it's north of £100 even in a modest place. Had some nice eggs benedict and coffee this weekend at a local cafe, was £16. The cost of eating and drinking out is the mot noticeable thing recently I think. We've got a decent household income, but can rarely afford to eat out. Holidays are another. Feels like you are just working to survive and this will also eventually fuck your mental health.

This is true. But it is a symptom. The more important truth is the Conservatives have utterly fucked the country over. Everything is worse, everything is broken. This is now people's lived experience, every day of their lives. The Conservatives cannot bullshit themselves out of this any more, it won't work. Think you've got 6 years to act like, not sure if having a witness is necessary but you'd need to have taken a photo of the offending cable to ascertain if it was breaching H&S rules or whatever legislation applies. Not advocating you should have done anything unless it was a blatant hazard, but then again if you're paying out of pocket medical fees (let alone the pain and suffering) then maybe it would be justified (guessing the cafe would have indemnity). Reminds me of one of the very few stags I attended. One of the lad's "tricks" was to say to a buxom lass "I bet you 50p I can make your tits jiggle without touching you". Just watched a bit of it. Couple of thoughts: The only reason I knew about it at all was because of the link to the mackem thread on here, so not exactly well advertised. It looks cheesy as fuck, glad I did not attend. I would like to see one of the drone displays however which look quite spectacular on video, but I don't think they did that? I don't get the issue with the kittiwakes*. They choose to nest on a relatively recent man made structure, below a road with thousands of vehicles passing overhead every day and above a vibrant tourist hot spot. This was at the Baltic, some 500 metres away.
