  1. Do you think those numbers will ever be recovered? If not, should this mean we should scrap future London-centric transport infrastructure schemes (e.g. Cross Rail 2)?
  2. Wow. I've just got round to watching that. Christ on a bike. Was hilarious seeing Morgan manoeuvre himself into a corner, get angrier and angrier, and acuse an ice cold Lynch of being wound up. What a fucking prick Morgan is.
  3. Trying to resist (mainly cos its patronising bollocks and anyway spongebob is ancient). Too late.
  4. I don't see why. As you say, we're generally agreed on the objectives but not the methods. We all know the barriers Labour faces to get into power. But if that can be achieved, which will take intelligence and patience, they can do a lot of real good in 5 years, get re-elected, and start a legacy that will see me into old age and my kids into adulthood. That is the most I think can be practically done.
  5. Well to clarify, I'm engaing in a friendly discussion with "cyber friends" and loafing when I should be working. No need for real conflict.
  6. Still, labour will just keep it anyway so no point complaining.
  7. That was a live attrenuated virus vaccination, not completely risk free. Polio (inactivated) is now part of the childhood immunisation programme (DTaP/IPV) as a jab. The WHO got very close to completely erradicating polio like small pox but religion (in this case Islam in the Middle East) got in the way. Some parents don't partipate in the childhood vaccine programme so now it is a theoretical risk even here. The misery that disease inflicts (on a small minority of people) is unimaginable.
  8. The latest brainwave from the Victorian Hatstand. A dashboard where you can vote on which EU regulations we should scrap. FFS. https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/governmentreporting/viz/UKGovernment-RetainedEULawDashboard/Guidance
  9. You're uncharacteristically precious and testy today. Just saying.
  10. What, your sister had polio? I didn't think I was old enough to potentially know a peer who had it. I just remember the gritty sugar cube they gave you and the plastic lad outside the shops with calippers on his legs and a slot on his head.
  11. Naah, let's leave it, don't want to derail the thread. I don't blame the medics, they were under incredible pressure, but its symptomatic of the failings of this horrendous government.
  12. Fucking hell, we're going back to 50s let alone the 70s. Bring out the iron lungs.
  13. Listen to Gemmill man ffs. No seriously, what he's written is objective fact. It's where we are, it's reality. You have to deal with the real world in order to change anything. Starmer is doing that, albeit imperfectly. He has a very strong shadow cabinet to improve things only if he ever comes to power.
  14. I think we're already there. They didn't resuscitate my sister and she most definitely was not DNR. Killed me when I found out, cryingin my office in front of colleagues. I do think it was for probably for the best but still it would have been nice for us to have an informed choice. I couldn't bare the pain of challenging the management, so let it go.
  15. Did you get PCRed when you had the runny nose? That was the only symptom for my daughter and my other daughter was completely asymptomatic when she tested positive (on PCR, negativ on LFT). I've had two colds during covid times which have fucked me much more than covid did. I think I've lost my immunity to normal viruses. The last one was two weeks ago, felt really ill. The following week I'm suffering from swollen joints all over my body. Falling to bits tbh.
  16. Think you're broadly right. But what happens when that model is broken? I.e. now? We're finding out but for us, it's not going to be good.
  17. I think you are completely wrong imo.
  18. It does every second this rank government are in charge, yes.
  19. I am fairly certain yes. But as a minimum, I believe Starmer would stop our further descent into a facist state. You either don't believe this, or don't care much anyway.
  20. Meanwhile, right wilst @Rayvin is prevaricating over whther Labour suit his ideals enough, Raab is giving a speech where he is de facto ditching the ECHR. THIS is what needs to be stopped.
  21. We are. But that is not Blair's fault. For me, and I appreciate this is where I fundamentally disagree with NJS and probably SpongeBob, the UK under Blair was a pretty fucking good place, so he actually proved what can be done. I am aware there may be an element of rose tinted glasses about this and bias as I was in my late 20s and early 30s at the time. But my perception was we were one of the best countries in the World to live in at the time, and society was quite cohesive. Don't forget who destroyed this.
  22. "Oh, Nandy Well, you came And you gave without taking But I sent you away Oh, Nandy Well, you kissed me And stopped me from shaking But I need Streeting today Oh, Nandy"
  23. Do it once you're in power maybe? Just avoid any mention at all of the EU in the manifesto.
