  1. Because however small, it's still steps in the right direction. Will give the country a chance to stabilise a bit, defuse some of the bad will we have garnered with the EU. Hope that bigger steps follow this. Rejoining the SM was always going to take a decade by my calculations, although this still disappointis me. But mainly because, the alternative is almost unthinkable.
  2. That's canny depressing tbf. Lost generation of opportunity. We will be in decline for the rest of my working life, maybe longer. I fucking viscerally hate the cunts that orchestrated this. That's not a healthy feeling. Also probably means labour aren't up to the big ideas needed like electoral reform. So bye bye Scotland. Christ, I'm suddenly turning into @Rayvin.
  3. I think he looks well cosidering the strikes were nearly 40 years ago. Outlived Thatcher by quite a distance. 🖕
  4. Would be amazing, although I'd actually prefer a stronger LD to nudge forward PR. If it happened like this that would be over. We can dream.
  5. Yeah, I agree its not working. Was directed at Meenz and Scoobos. Hopefully all will become clear after Tiverton tonight.
  6. Guys, I'm as cynical and jaded as the next man but now way on Earth can the tories get away with blaming this shitfest on Labour and no way are we sending the army to Ukraine.
  7. British Airways staff voted to come out on strike now. So so far we have rail, barristers, and BA. Shortly teachers and NHS. i'm sure many others will be thinking about it. Definitely got the vibes of summer/autumn of discontent. That will nullify the tory constant rhetoric of Labour's winter of discontent.
  8. Lynch is taking on this silly bitch on QT tonight. I'm expecting.
  9. Bet him and that other wokelist Gary Neville never get out of their golden Mercs and use the train anyway [/Mail]
  10. Your still in Scotland? I think we know full sovereignty in a global world is fairly illusory, what's more important is representation. I'm all in favour of unions, be it the UK or the EU. I don't want the UK to break up but recognise in Scotland's case it is currently necessary because of a lack of representation and devolved power, so support it if that's the only option left. Ireland will be united at some point regardless, but that's different from independence. Problem is being stuck inthe NE of England. As well as PR, I want complete federalisation of England. I can dream.
  11. I think PR solves the Scottish problem and would mean there was no need for independence. I think most scots main gripe is that they are not represented in Westminster and Holyrood doesn't have any fiscal power. They resent being ruled by cunts like Johnson, basically, as do I. The classic expample being that they voted against Brexit and got it anyway. Further devolution plus PR would be the perfect panacea. That's why I'm sceptical that Sturgeon would back it. Although I'm not always convinced she wants complete independence as the economic pain that will cause for a generation would be immense.
  12. I'm guessing that you would need wider acceptance than just UNISON. As you know, I share your opinion on this. I think it would take a coalition with LDs and SNP to force this. I was thinking for the SNP it might be a bit like turkeys voting for christmas, but I found this histrorical piece suggesting Sturgeon supports it. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/the-snp-would-vote-to-introduce-proportional-representation-at-westminster-nicola-sturgeon-confirms-10223302.html
  13. I think you've got to appreciate Lynch and Starmer are doing different jobs and have to appease different audiences. I really do think this is a matter of timing though. Regardless of who is in charge of the cunt party, for me it makes sense to wait nearer the GE before releasing policy and hopefully going all out on the attack. This is especially so considering that, tragically, by next year the country will be in a potentially catastrophic state imo and people will be much more inclined to hear a different message. I guess what I'm saying is I think you should wait until then before making your mind up.
  14. Do you think those numbers will ever be recovered? If not, should this mean we should scrap future London-centric transport infrastructure schemes (e.g. Cross Rail 2)?
  15. Wow. I've just got round to watching that. Christ on a bike. Was hilarious seeing Morgan manoeuvre himself into a corner, get angrier and angrier, and acuse an ice cold Lynch of being wound up. What a fucking prick Morgan is.
  16. Trying to resist (mainly cos its patronising bollocks and anyway spongebob is ancient). Too late.
  17. I don't see why. As you say, we're generally agreed on the objectives but not the methods. We all know the barriers Labour faces to get into power. But if that can be achieved, which will take intelligence and patience, they can do a lot of real good in 5 years, get re-elected, and start a legacy that will see me into old age and my kids into adulthood. That is the most I think can be practically done.
  18. Well to clarify, I'm engaing in a friendly discussion with "cyber friends" and loafing when I should be working. No need for real conflict.
  19. Still, labour will just keep it anyway so no point complaining.
  20. That was a live attrenuated virus vaccination, not completely risk free. Polio (inactivated) is now part of the childhood immunisation programme (DTaP/IPV) as a jab. The WHO got very close to completely erradicating polio like small pox but religion (in this case Islam in the Middle East) got in the way. Some parents don't partipate in the childhood vaccine programme so now it is a theoretical risk even here. The misery that disease inflicts (on a small minority of people) is unimaginable.
  21. The latest brainwave from the Victorian Hatstand. A dashboard where you can vote on which EU regulations we should scrap. FFS. https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/governmentreporting/viz/UKGovernment-RetainedEULawDashboard/Guidance
  22. You're uncharacteristically precious and testy today. Just saying.
  23. What, your sister had polio? I didn't think I was old enough to potentially know a peer who had it. I just remember the gritty sugar cube they gave you and the plastic lad outside the shops with calippers on his legs and a slot on his head.
