  1. Well there's you and spngebob for one. Momentum are still there too (not saying you support these of course). I think you need to recognise the dilemma Starmer is in fighting this rotten corrupt government ba ked by the full might of the Murdoch press. He's going to make decisions you don't agree with and may be tactically wrong even. But the intentions are purely to get into power and stop labour being impotent. By all means don't join the party, but not voting for them (if I'm reading this right) plays right into the tories hands. I don't think he should Ihave stopped his front bench from joining the pickets and I certainly don't think he should punish them. It's a moral and tactical mistake imo. But I will support him. Plenty in the party will use it as an opportunity to attack him and weaken the party though imo.
  2. Legal and police professions have been absolutely screwed by the party of law and order.
  3. Echo what has been said and really feel for you. What a sht situation, haven't got any practical advice you wouldn't already know about. It'll be no comfort to you that millions are in the same position. My own experience is that I have somehow remained married which means on paper we should be able to live very comfortably. But I'm heavily indebted (partly our fault, partly not) for the next 3 years at least and honestly I run out of money every month, and stick things on credit cards.. My job is canny enough, but my wife's job is incredibly stressful though and the hours are insane. But she can't afford to leave because everything else is paid much worse. It's creating real strains on the family at a time we should be enjoying it, its not sustainable. I personally feel that its obvious quality of life in this country has gone down the shitter since Cameron got in, accelerated by the madness since the Brexit referendum. Take care of your mental health first and foremost and get help wherever you can. I sincerely hope things improve for you.
  4. Good post Scoobos. I can see both sides, but have to say staying quiet and letting the tories own this probably won't work, they are masters at blame shifting. Meanwhile, I am much nearer to being an OAP myself now than a graduate, but please God don't let me adopt their political persuasion. Why do so many pensioners hate working people so much?
  5. Hmm, maybe. Makes sense, stoke up the division to number 11, and get it done before the shit storm of winter hits. And if they lose, it's somebody else's mess to clear up.
  6. And meanwhile....; I was talking to my mum last night, and she is proof that this drip drip of propaganda from the tories, enabled by the BBC, has an effect. She doesn't read the Mail or any daily papers. But yesterday she started ranting about how much train drivers got paid, how we need to tighten our belts, and how much worse it was in the 70s. Since my Dad departed she has become incredibly susceptible to this (immigrants as well), no way would he have come out with that shit. It seems all the tory party care about is placating pensioners to me, they hate normal people who work, especially those who have families. She'll be okay on her triple locked pension though.
  7. Well that can't be right, as GB news is completely impartial isn't it, old bristle head told me so.
  8. What Starmer was trying to avoid, happened anyway. Face the cunts down Keir. From interviews I have seen, your front bench is tearing strips out of the tories. You, not so much.
  9. Tory HQ in overdrivr ae the moment. It's Labour's strike apparently, despite RMT not even being afilliated to the Labour party. We had Grant Schapps yesterday constantly quoting the average salary of train drivers, when train drivers aren't even striking (yet). This is what happens when lying is accepted as normal at the very top. The country burns.
  10. Tend to agree, he needs to face this head on. The Labour party have been running for too long now, time to fight back.
  11. I'm assuming Starmer has asked the shadow cabinet not to attend the picket lines to counter this narrative, but that seems to have backfired, so once again the tories are in control of it. Complete set up, p[art of operation save big dog before Tiverton.
  12. What does the big red button do?
  13. It's fucking unbelievable isn't it. Whoops I've shat the bed.. But in a hypothetical future, it was Dr Gloom who shat the bed.
  14. Most the agencies have said they want no part because: 1) Their workers don't have the skills or knowledge. 2) They have a shortage of workers in their supply pool anyway. 3) They don't want to be scabs. Another genius plan by this government, purely enabled to feed their culture wars.
  15. There was the Head of a school in Hertfordshire whinging on the BBC 600 of students use the train and they will struggle to get in to do their GCSEs. I just thought, instead of whinging, why not be proactive and charter a couple of coaches. Probably only 120 of them or so will be doing the exams, I'm sure their parents can chip in a few quid, what with living in the home counties. The strike will make fuck all difference in the North East. Most intercity are running a reduced service anyway. And we have fuck all local trains to cancel.
  16. She was another one who was gorgeous until she raised her arms revealing her teutonic hirsute pits on ToTP. Plus that song charted way too long.
  17. Be a referral from a private consultation. Always pissed me off this, private healthcare in this country is often just a way of bypassing the gatekeepers, with the NHS doing the actual work, for free.
  18. Twinned with Coventry no less. "The rudiments of the NDH style were established by Oomph! on their seminal second album, Sperm (1994)," Think I'll pass on this genre.
  19. I had to look up who these are. A German Neue Deutsche Härte band apparently. I can't be arsed to look up what that means, but it sounds horrendous. These krauts can actually fill an English stadium?!
  20. Fill your boots. The very rich retired couple opposite me are lovely, really nice people, always asking how I am, used to ask after my Dad, sent flowers and cards etc, great with the kids. Nicer than me tbh, I can't be arsed with neighbourly relations. Most the street are like them. They read the fucking Express and I'm 99% sure they vote tory. What can you do?
  21. Some people, sure. Either because they are bone fide cunts or just brainwashed by the Mail etc usually. But let's not foget, the tories only ever get a modal majority, they have never achieved over 50% of those people who vote. Most people vote for progressive parties, but because of FPTP which we have discussed in detail before, they are not represented.
  22. Belieiving the NHS should be free fro everyone is consistent with people being selfish, because its in their self interest. You only have to look at the US to realise in a privatised system only the super rich benefit, far beyond the top 15 percentile. And even then a lot of that 85% will resent "foreigners" using it, or people will drug, alcohol, obesity, or tobacco issues. I think all of us are motivated for selfish reasons. I want a fairer society because I think that will be a better place for ME and my family to live in. That's worth more to me than keeping my tax money. I don't want to step over the homeless on the way to my local Coop, I don't want the hell of antisocial behaviour on the metro bought on by nihilism as a consequence of hopelessness and lack or education, I don't want myself to decide which charity to donate to. I want the government to do it, and I'm willing to pay for it. Not this government though, the fucking cunts.
  23. Hope the surgeon's scalpel slips.
