We as a country are now in the ridiculous position that we can't admit Brexit is a disaster for us. If you don't recognise the problem, you can't fix it. So apparently we are all going to have to suffer before seeking solutions? I'm not convinced. The Leave campaign promised we would stay in the SM, we'd be like Norway. Staying in the SM is in no way a breach of Brexit. Brexit is increasingly seen as a bad thing by most people, including a lot of tories, like farmers (story below). Why are we appeasing the ERG to this extent? A very strong argument can be made to joining the SM if Starmer was not such a coward. I think the tories are stuffed anyway with the cost of living crisis which is going to be very bad.

It's because he's ruled out the SM and CU in their entirety. Why not just keep quiet? I know he is pre-empting the inevitable red tops and Mail bashing him, but at the same time I, and many others, will struggle to vote for him. Also his plan is bollocks, it's a non starter. Either he is stupid or is a liar. I think a bit of measured honesty and bravery are in order. He just doesn't seem to have any answers. PR is another thing he won't entertain which I think is even more important.
-
The EU aren't going to entertain his cherry picking. Your either in the SM, or you're not. If you are in, you pay a fee, you accept FoM, and you are subject to the ECJ. You become a rule taker. There is no middle ground, apart from NI maybe. ANd the unionists won't agree to his keeping the NI protocol anyway. Starmer will know this. He is lying to us. I'm not okay with this.

Meanwhile......
-
Reading through his five proposed actions he mainly wants to the EU to accept regulatory equivalence with the UK. No way will this fly with the EU, they will insist we are subject to ECJ jurisdiction like every other country, or we will have to keep border inspection posts imo. It's yet again cherry picking and its fucking pathetic. You'd think we would have learned by now we actually don't have the upper hand here.

Yep. I'd rather my kids don't have to live with the consequences of a catastrophe thanks. I just hope Labour can find a more honest progressive leader in time.
-
He's ruled out rejoining for at least the period that the manifesto covers though - 5 years minimum. He didn't have to do this and it is going to turn a lot of voters against him, whilst I supect gaining none. One thing we need to remember is that we talk about Brexit in a bubble in this country, seemingly oblivious to what the EU of EFTA want. I personally don't think they will let us rejoin the SM for at least a decade anyway. So "making Brexit work" is fair enough, but I draw the line at categorically blocking even trying to rejoin the SM or talking about it. He's a coward.
-
I'll vote for him, like I did for Corbyn, because I think a conservative victory would be catastrophic. But I have no enthusiasm for him at all now.
-
Starmer to make a speech today confriming Labour will not join the SM or bring back FoM, effectively condemning us to decades of low growth and decline. Also I think personally this is the last straw for Scotland, I wish them well and might move there myself when the kids finish school. Why do we have to put up with this bullshit? I only vote to stop the party I hate most, I don't vote for anything positive anymore. It's a shit situation. I'll be honest now and actually hope Starmer gets fined and someone else gets a go at the wheel. I understand he doesn't want to stir up the Brexit shitfest but to actively side with the brexiters, who are now in a minority, is a fucking cunt's trick. Fuck you Starmer.
-
Okay, this is good news. But this lying cunt has been repeating the lie for at least 3 years now. Damage is done unfortunately.
-
Hardly. Setting an incredibly low bar there imo.
-
Don't think he has to resign does he, he could stay as an independent unless he's succesfuly prosecuted. Not saying he will but with these fuckers I wouldn't put anything past them.
-
Bum pincher has had the whip suspended following an official complaint. Quelle surprise.
-
Just listening on the radio there, the professor says at least 90% of people have had it. 95% of infants (who have not been vaccinated of course) have antibodies to it. Which leads me to believe you're all a bunch of lying kernts.
-
Honestly man, in some ways I almost admire his tenacity (admire is the wrong word obviously). Does he never tire of the constant shit he stirs coming back to splat him in the face? It's not like he needs the grift for his finances, he'll unfortunately make much more away from politics, and will be able to divorce Carrie easily enough as well. This is where I was most wrong about Johnson. Being a lazy cunt, I thought he would quit at the first sign of trouble. I was

Johnson is now denying he knew anything about the prior allegations against Pincher. This is obviously not plausible and another complete lie which should be easy to expose (otherwise Barclay will probably have to resign). He need to be challenged on this in Parliament so he is caught lying to the house, again.

Incredible stuff from these tory cunts. They NEVER learn.
-
As well as point how incredibly petty they are in their made up heads.
-
Feels wrong to have laughed so hard at that.
-
I reckon the bottom left one may well have happened like. Probably the highlight of the SMB's life, remembering it from 15 years ago.
-
Nothing should surpise me any more.
-
No argument from me there. There is three types of exceptionalism happening here. First, Westminister exceptionalism, applying to all MPs (e.g. bars at work). The there is tory exceptionalism, because no way would Labour MPs get away with half the shit the tories do, they'd be crucified in the press (ffs Rayner was criticied for drinking sparkling wine at an opera this week). Then there is Johnson exceptionalism. "Boris just being Boris". He's done enough wrong in office to force the resignation of anyone else five times over. It is truly bizarre.

Agreed. And Clinton was impeached and the whole saga led to Netflix series on it iirc!

Hancock was during lockdown, so he breached lockdown rules, and as health minister, his position was untenable.
