I honestly can't get my head around how any person (either sex) from a normal working background (jobs, mortgage etc) would value 5 star service. I don't want it at best and, as said, its awkward/uncomfortable at worst. Besides, I'm not staying at a hotel to be stuck in a hotel. Obviously on a beach holiday I value comfort but I'm perfectly capable of doing things for myself. 3 or 4 star is fine. Like Alex, fortunately my wife agrees.

Did a bit of local walking last weekend and was reminded of all the bridleways around the Monkseaton/Delaval area, and there will soon be a proper cycle path right down the N Tyneside coast. I've not noticed much difference in my limited experience bwtween 5 star and 4 star tbh. 5 star the staff wear silly outfits and are more pompous. Food and drink no difference save the cost. All in all, I prefer 4 star.

And the mobilisation of the tories to the very high ground (seats they have 18,000 plus majorities in) doesn't bode well for them. Think I've said it before, but it reminds me of when under Robson we were playing the mackems. We were ace at the time and they were utterly shit. We were 2-0 up after a few arse-raping minutes but that's how it ended. So we'd just beaten them in a derby, and I felt deflated at the final whistle. If the tories get 150 seats on Thursday that is going to feel like a let down for me. I want them to go extinct.
