I have heard those quotes before. I think the oligarchs/metal detectors in schools was all in relation to the same thing in the same interview. I’ll admit it’s just my feeling about his prejudices. But I also think that’s why it feels more insidious to me. Still, that’s only ever going to be an opinion. There’s not a hint of a nod to black music in their sound though. Which doesn’t make them or him racist of course. But he seems to have little or no time for it, which gives a very narrow perspective of not only music but the history of British music too.

Of course, I recognised Simon Price’s voice when he came on there briefly. I think Kulkarni pretty much nails it there for me. He’s definitely a racist. And more dangerously so than more overt racism, in the way that clip describes. With his ideas of what defines ‘proper music’ (and more so in terms of what doesn’t), what it means to be working class and so on. He’s a reactionary. He’s clever enough to know exactly what’s he’s doing as well. And the media reaction too, man. It’s vomit inducing. I was at the funeral of a great lad on Friday. Gone way too soon. And some lass who used to live in the same street as me and the deceased got chatting to me at the wake. We’re both roughly the same age. She asked if I was going to be in the queue for Oasis tickets. She thought I was taking the piss when I said no because I don’t really like them. Like she was genuinely amazed / couldn’t get her head round it. It’s fucking weird, man. They’re not even shit. They’re much worse than that, they’re one of the most boring acts of all time.

Spot on really. I think the slow building of the club within the rules is the aim. It’s not what fans want and may cost us some big names currently at the club, as players’ prime years are a relatively small amount of time and they’re the ones where we can bring in big money too. A point re: Staveley and her husband, a lot of people seem to think their departure is a big part of the reason our targets weren’t signed this window. I’m not sure how true that is, but even if it is, the same people seem to give them a free pass re: the PSR shortfall. Also re: Hope and his ‘sources’. There’s really no way of assessing their credibility. Is it very likely people with much sway have loose lips and are talking to journalists? These sorts of things tend to get embellished at each degree further from the real people in the know too. I’m not saying it was good window, but I think the only real error (because a lot of things are outside the club’s control) was not telling Palace to fuck off weeks ago.

I find it quite funny that within the twattersphere you seem to have the same groups of people going ballistic that the club got into a PSR hole that saw them sell Minteh and Anderson. And yet think the club should’ve spent about £200m on three first teamers this window. Without joining the dots. Putting the idiots to one side though, PSR clearly has a big knock on impact on what the club can currently spend. Given that, you do have to question why so much time and effort seems to have been expended on a CB for £60+. It would be different if we were talking about a world class talent at their peak. He’s the next level down imo. Just seems odd the way the window has played out.
