I suppose, if that's the case, all things being equal he'd have gone for them. And all things aren't equal since we're a shambles

Ludicrous allowing Cabella to go imo. He was starting to show signs of adapting to match the odd flash of good play last season. The Thauvin deal replacing him was a proper fuck up. Don't think two terrible deals make Townsend a better bet though. That's poor logic
-
It makes sense that we should've been in for him but I don't think there's much, if any, evidence we were this time round. Anyway, all moot now
-
You're not really selling him to the sceptics here
-
And yet Austin went for £4m. Doubling what Southampton offered would've been better value and met our needs better
-
That's quite a range

I think, as J69 was saying, Townsend has looked quality but when did he last show that form? Loads of players have burst onto the scene then never been able to repeat that form. I'd worry he's a flash in the pan. If Spurs do hold out for £16m you're talking about an outlay of over £20m on him. If he was the difference between staying up and going down it would be worth it but it's a big 'if'

I think Perez has looked decent at times there this season but on the whole think he's struggled for form a bit. In any case I would expect the 3 in a 4-2-3-1 to interchange and all look to link up with the lone striker. It's a slightly different role to playing wide in a 4-4-2 / 4-3-3 where I think he probably would struggle (and Townsend would be more suited). We do need to improve the squad long term but if we're spunking that sort of cash now it really should be on guaranteed starters

Deano, there's only one Deano

Aye, I had guessed you weren't on about the bloke from Blake's 7

Even though the first caption suggests it's closer than Pluto at approx 20 AU. That's the crazy, lefty Grauniad for you

Generic small time football blather thread 2015/16

A good while back. I was quite surprised like Apparently he's amassed a large property portfolio. They should've got Robbie Fowler to do it instead. -
I don't think Perez is wasted out wide, especially in our system. I think he's a good player with nice touches, good vision and an ability to finish well but I don't think he's in the game enough and ready to dictate play in the way you would demand and expect of a no. 10 in the Premier League. Townsend would provide a different type of option but I don't think he's as good as Perez and wouldn't necessarily improve the first XI. Even more so were we to sign Berahino which should be more of a priority.

Aye, the idea of a team in the bottom 3 spending that sort of money on someone who might not start is so ludicrous we'll probably do it
-
Said a while back that Stallone has basically become his Spitting Image puppet now.

If J69 rates him, I'm out

Nah, I didn't think it was a documentary.

It was and I thought that at the time but liked it probably because I love that film as well. It was one of the first TV series I can remember where the production values, if that's the right phrase, were comparable with Hollywood films, as opposed to seeming a bit cheap and nasty by comparison.
