Pop Robson played against Newcastle for Carlisle in my first ever game at SJP (New Year’s Day, 1983).

There was something on the telly with him years ago and I was genuinely shocked he was still going.

Did your mam enjoy her trip to Dealey Plaza btw?
-
Tbf his teeth did look better there

That’s bullshit too. I suspect you know this though. Btw, I remember an edition of the Viz (around the 25th anniversary iirc) which devoted several pages to TRUTH which placed Elvis Presley on the grassy knoll as the second shooter

Happy birthday, CT. Can you do a Mug-Righter General mug for a certain Steven Marshall-Baines?

Aslan is Jesus. The Narnians (North European Christians) are the goodies and the Calormen (Middle Eastern Muslims) are the baddies (in at least a couple of the books in the latter case). I did love the books as a kid but even I’d worked that out for myself as 11 or 12 year old on the second or third reading.

There was a poster you could buy ( I think it also appeared on tea towels too, bizarrely ) sold as a touristy gift in Dallas that listed the coincidences between the JFK and Lincoln assassinations. Varying from the tenuous to the untrue. I’ll see if I can find it

A manager likes them underage apparently
Alex replied to Kevin Carr's Gloves's topic in Newcastle Forum
Total minefield obviously. There is, of course, a good chance they’ve done it and nothing will come of it too. Given conviction rates. I’m not sure what clubs are meant to do about that either though. If the CPS can’t gather enough evidence to get a reasonable chance of a conviction then what are the clubs themselves and the governing bodies supposed to do? I appreciate that’s an awful state of affairs but they can’t just terminate contracts off the back of accusations. I.e. even if they wanted to -
I used to be really fascinated, almost obsessed re: the assassination of JFK. The more I looked into it, the more I became convinced Oswald was almost certainly the lone gunman and wasn’t part of a wider conspiracy. Funny thing about that is all of the credible evidence points to that being the case and hardly anyone (or certainly a minority) believes it. The various conspiracy theories are based on bad science, misinterpretations and (often) downright lies. Yet more people than ever prefer the bullshit. Culminating in the Trump cultists thinking both JFK and his son are still alive and helping Trump fight to save America from something or other. Even if he was still alive he’d be 106

Also around the same time you got a part time job in a launderette

Getting Dolly or Harry would be more realistic

It wasn’t the manager, it wasn’t the missing Nissan employees, it was the, erm, lack of thermal kit
-
It’s funny seeing desperation in the media to portray any positive results as a sign ‘they’re back’ only for them to keep following that up with more poor performances.

I’d love to know who they think they’re going to get who’d do a better job than Mowbray.

Keeping it topical to make sure this place is still down with the kids I see

Cleverly is well and truly wound up too if you watch the footage

Just another example where the VAR officials need to own and make the decision. It puts the ref under too much pressure to change their decision when they go to the screen. I know he should have stuck with his original decision but it’s inevitably going to make people think they’ve made an error under those circumstances

Aye, as thick as he is I’m not sure even he believes that twaddle. Not sure who he’s trying to kid but, like you say, it just reveals how gutted he is. Same with Exile in a different way. I think it was HMHM saying if the roles were reversed he’d be doing all he could to avoid thinking about them, rather than obsessing about it

The cutting ‘mags are mugs’ bit at the end got me

Could probably play in several different positions too: RB, LB, RWB, LWB abd potentially on either wing in attack

I guess we’re beginning to see why he was signed ahead of other perceived priorities. I don’t mean that as a dig at anyone questioning why we went for him when some areas needed strengthening more. I just think Ashworth / Howe / whoever has the final say saw his potential and what he can already offer. Plus as fans we understandably focus on the here and now. Whereas Ashworth will be coming at it from a medium to long term perspective too. And we’re still very much on the early stages of building a squad able to genuinely compete for honours / on multiple fronts. Especially after the lack of investment and attention to detail of the previous 14 years or so.
