Aye. I don’t see it but that doesn’t mean he isn’t arrogant enough to think he can pull it off. His problem will be the party members you would think.
-
I don’t know. I don’t see what he gets out of being one of c. 150 opposition MPs in a decimated Tory party either. I always thought the Lords thing was about prestige anyway. Maybe he just fancied the peerage now. Foreign Secretary is about as high profile as it gets for a Secretary of State too. So that’s a nice little number for a few months. I certainly agree it’ll be motivated by what he thinks he can get out if it though. As opposed to his ‘sense of duty’ bullshit.

I think he’s just doing it for the life peerage. Meanwhile Sunak has someone in cabinet who isn’t a fascist who has an international profile for the foreign secretary role. It’s only going to a year or so and Cameron gets a seat in the HoL out of it. So he’s got nothing to lose. From the PM’s pov it smacks of desperation because he’s desperate.

What’s the crack here? I’m not on Twitter so I can only see the actual tweet rather than what it’s replying to etc

That’s the other thing, it’ll be one of the junior ministers deputising for him in the HoC when needed

Yeah, the procedure is different. But if anything there’s more scrutiny in some ways. As there’s less showboating and more emphasis on actually answering what you’re being asked. Peers decide amongst themselves who asks what rather than the speaker like in the commons too iirc. Although there isn’t time set aside for ministerial oral questions like there is in the commons iirc. It’s less high profile in terms of tv coverage too. I suspect he’ll be off swanning about the globe more than he’ll be in the Lords. He’s only got a few months of free foreign travel before the government gets kicked out anyway.

I thought the Pro-Palestinian march was inevitable but I wish it hadn’t happened in many ways. There was always going to be an element of antisemitism and that was always going to be highlighted (correctly of course). This is then bound to detract from the people marching wanting a ceasefire etc. I don’t recall a March like this ever really achieving anything either. I guess I wouldn’t mind so much but as Gloom’s unfortunate experience suggests (and like SpongeBob alluded to) a lot of people who get involved haven’t got a fucking clue what they’re actually supporting.

Jeremy Quin (Minister for Cabinet Office) has gone now. Quite a shock as he’s relatively moderate and competent too. Claims it’s to focus on his constituency work. Not that big in itself but significant given he’s regarded as a Sunak ally and well respected. I wouldn’t be surprised if the PM doesn’t make it to the general election

Arrogance. Btw, the BBC had Ann Widdecombe on this morning. How the fuck are her views on anything relevant?
-
Well it’s entirely possible, given TGQ!s penchant for having multiple accounts and lying a lot, that it’s him. He could just be a different incel though

Fair play. In these divisive political times it can’t have been easy to find someone that both sides of the Brexit schism have zero respect for

I think it has undoubtedly gotten worse. Mind you still had stuff like the Michael Foot donkey jacket thing used to make political capital. Which was another lie from the right wing press of course. That cunt Heseltine even repeating the lie just after Foot passed away.

Aye, they talk about it being a sacred weekend (and it absolutely should be - well day anyway, it’s not a fucking holiday) but the Poppy cocks whove turned it into the gammon Xmas are the ones who’ve massively undermined that
-
Aye I think it was HMHM as well talking about how it’s always the same people interviewed at any event or for Football Focus or whatever for the “fan’s view” as well. I literally couldn’t give a fuck what most of them think. Even reckon Pearson must be on the payroll or something. Although fuck knows why. Because it’s pretty fucking difficult to get tickets for every single match unless you’re paying for hospitality ones

Newcastle United: Club Sold To PCP - Official
Alex replied to The Mighty Hog's topic in Newcastle Forum
Not that I think it’s going to happen but it would be funny as fuck if we just bought a few players from the Saudi league for next to nowt and gave them 6 month contracts.
