If the full backs don’t get high and stay high it leaves us with five at the back and just three attackers. Three at the back could be the way to go, but surely not set up like this
-
Saka is left footed so he has the “right” foot to play that position, I suppose. But it feels like he’s scrambling, taking one of the best inverted wingers in the league and playing him in a position he’s barely performed for years. He’s basically also taking Ian Wright’s advice too, which smacks of desperation. I guess you can say at least he’s trying something different because we have stunk out the tournament so far. It’s so defensive though. Surely you don’t need Rice and Mainoo in front of a back three. If he is going to play this formation he should drop Mainoo for a more attacking player. I still can’t believe Gordon isn’t getting a sniff

I liked starmer’s speech and his line about the end of performance politics. Whatever you think of him, he is a serious politician.

stands up to wipe his arse like a toddler

i don't think we need to panic yet. labour probably lost a few percentage points to: - the lib dems because of all the co-ordinated tactical voting in swing states - independents/greens as muslims and the young protested against his stance on Gaza

is prepared to wade through years of old threads to prove a point

a midfielder too now that anderson is gone and miley is injured

The time to judge Starmer starts now. Time to start standing for something. He has such a big majority he can push through pretty much anything he wants. Time to throw away the caution and start rebuilding the country.
-
nah. They will move to the right and fight among themselves. It’s great news for Labour and we’ll see then implode the same way Labour did during the Corbyn years. Hopefully it takes them an election cycle or two to get it out of their system before they remember that elections are won from the centre.

Washington stays red. Never doubted my hometown.

I stuck with it. I’m enjoying the quite bizarre cast of characters
-
the thing is they’ve got such a massive majority they can pretty much force through anything they want. Hopefully real change starts here - beginning with the low hanging fruit of closer alignment with the EU in many areas. We will soon get a sense of whether he’s ambitious or as boring as he seems.

I mean, you’re right but they’re more representative of the country than you think. These are the same dickheads who voted for brexit to “take back control of our borders”.
-
still strong support for Brexit in Mackem land. Because it’s worked so well for them

I think Farage will start hating being an MP pretty quickly, yeah. But I also see the tories replacing Sunak with some headbanger from the right of the party in response to the rise of Reform. They’re looking at a prolonged period out of power while they get this out of their system.
-
Not sure I agree with that take. Reform is the big story after the landslide. We will continue to see the tories dragged towards the right, I think. Which is great, because it should keep them out of power. Elections are won in the centre. Hopefully the racists continue to split the Tory vote and keep the tories unelectable
