Local UK leaders tell Hancock: 'Existing restrictions not working' Council leaders from cities in the north of England have written to UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock, urging him to improve local coronavirus measures. They said they were "extremely concerned about the sharp increase in new Covid-19 cases" in their areas and the national responses. The four leaders said: "The existing restrictions are not working, confusing for the public and some, like the 10pm rule, are counter-productive.   8. The coronavirus reproduction (R) number for the UK is now as high as 1.6, the latest figures have confirmed. The R number is now between 1.3 and 1.6 - up from between 1.2 and 1.5 last week, according to the government's advisory committee SAGE. In England, the R number is highest in London and the North East and Yorkshire, with both regions having figures between 1.2 and 1.6. It is lowest in the East of England - between 1.0 and 1.3.

  19. One of my other daughters has just text Mrs T to say. Her, her husband & our 5 year old grandson have have a test tomorrow. As the grandsons come home from school complaining of a sore chest. Daughter spoke to the G.P. who said it would be better to get tested.
