Aye it seems to be running rife in the Uni's yet Boris chooses to keep them & schools fully open despite knowing there's a big problem there.
-
Since the North East had to close pubs at 10pm. Are there any indications that its bringing the infection numbers down.

Breaking news confirming what Ewerk said Pubs and restaurants, with the exception of takeaways and deliveries, will close for four weeks in Northern Ireland, First Minister Arlene Foster has said. Schools will also be closed for two weeks over-the Halloween half-term break in a bid to slow down the country's second wave of Covid-19. Over to you Boris

Daily Star leading with Boris in Lockdown U Turn Reports saying a National Lockdown to coinside with the school half term is 80% likely.

I said a couple of weeks ago I thought Boris would gamble & try to get to half term before calling a National Lockdown. With these minutes from the SAGE meeting 3 weeks ago now made public. It really does look like Boris just pleases himself what he does. He should face a massive backlash now. Questions that need to be asked are. Did YOU choose to ignore the scientific advice ? Or did somebody tell you to ignore it ?

Be interesting to see if Boris has got the bollocks to put the North East in tier 3

Boris Johnson wants North East to agree to tougher lockdown rules including pub closures The Government says it wants North East leaders to agree to tougher measures but it could impose them on the region The Prime Minister's spokesman said talks about introducing "the most severe types of local action" were continuing. And he said that while Mr Johnson hoped to reach agreement with local council leaders and mayors, "the Government does have the ability to impose measures if it's considered that that's what's needed."

the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage) reveal a call to action three weeks ago. "The re-imposition of a package of measures is required urgently," it warned on 21 September. It added: "The more rapidly these interventions are put in place the greater the reduction in Covid-related deaths and the quicker they can be eased. "Not acting now to reduce cases will result in a very large epidemic with catastrophic consequences."

North East will avoid harshest restrictions as leaders told it will be placed in tier two Pubs now expected to stay open but Government is understood to still have an eye on the region's worrying infection rate

Miss T was on a Forestry School Leaders course for her school back in March. It meant travelling to a forest in the middle of nowhere in Durham. When lockdown came it was suspended. In September they sent emails saying the course would start back up on monday of this week. Miss T. e mailed back saying she didnt feel comfortable mixing with 20 other teachers all from different schools & wouldnt be attending. She received an e mail from the leader saying everything would be safe & she had nothing to worry about. She still didnt go. Yesterday this was sent to everyone on the course to say. One of the teachers on the course has tested positive hope to see you all tomorrow. This after trying to reassure Miss T. everything would be safe social distancing etc. Seems like her intuition was right

This from Sky News England is expected to be carved into three different lockdown tiers next week, with millions of people facing tougher restrictions as the government tries to get a handle on rising coronavirus cases and hospital admissions. Pubs and restaurants as well as leisure facilities are expected to be closed in parts of the North put into the strictest tier, according to two sources who have seen blueprints of the current plans. Under the proposals, people living in the strictest tier - tier three - are also expected to be ordered not to have any social contact with anyone outside their household in any setting, according to one person familiar with the blueprints being drawn up by the government. The strictest tier will also come with a financial compensation package for businesses forced to shut up shop. A second source who has also seen the tiering proposals said tier two restrictions would be the same as those currently in the North East and Merseyside - no household mixing in homes or gardens, and no household mixing in hospitality settings. Advertisement Those in tier one will be the most light-touch tier, with the public expected to follow the rule of six and maintain social distancing. Whitehall sources stressed that nothing has yet been signed off. "There's still a lot of work to be done," they told Sky News. More from Covid-19

I agree with this 100% Yeah they knew it was coming & just sat back & watched it. Then eventually shit themselves when the realised how dangerous it was. This could have all been avoided. Or at least been nothing like it is now

Pubs and restaurants barred from selling alcohol indoors for two weeks in most of Scotland. Pubs & restaurants in 5 areas must shut for all but takeaways. I wonder if Boris will follow their lead

I told him he'd done the right thing

Surely if people aren't social distancing in a queue you'd wear your mask. A Bedlington pub has been shut after police caught households mingling and customers without their masks in breach of coronavirus guidelines. Officers claimed there was no social distancing inside The Wharton Arms during a spot check on Saturday, October 3. Northumbria Police say multiple breaches at the pub also included not displaying a Track and Trace QR code, or enforcing a one-way system.

Talking to one of my sons last he said he went to Nationwide in Blyth yesterday. He said he was at the back of the queue there were about 10 people in front of not socially distanced not wearing a mask. He said Nationwide were letting them in one at a time . Just before they went in everyone pulled a mask out of the pocket or shopping bag. He said as each one left, off came the mask.
