  1. Not remotely. And I can't even begin to think why anyone would even associate being a fan of the Vulcan bomber with stamp collecting.
  2. Was fucking awesome. It came completely out of the wrong direction - everyone had oriented themselves looking to the east, which is what the museum bods were telling people I think, with some even setting up cameras to try and get the static Vulcan in the same shot. I thought this was bizarre, as the group's own website map said it would be coming in from the south. Sadly I went with the herd, and so like everyone else missed its approach until it was basically on top of us. It did three circuits, banking to vertical on at least one that I saw, before climbing away out to sea, doing the old wing dip wave as a farewell thing. Sadly though it appears (to my untrained ear at least) that they were being a little bit stingy with the throttles, meaning it wasn't quite as loud as I remember when it was at the airshow. Or maybe I've just gone a bit deafer in the years since. I also underestimated how low it would be, meaning it was out of sight behind the museum hangar for long periods of the circuit, which was slightly annoying. The sight of its camo paint scheme shining in the sun as it banked, and the climb away, plus of course the fact it's still loud as fuck even when not being run at full throttle, more than made up for it though. Not sure what to make of the fact I might have been in close proximity with CT IRL. I haven't developed any symptoms yet....
  3. Alright, keep your knickers on Captain Literal. Call my distrusting, but I don't think I could donate them unless I knew who/what they were being used to raise money for, i.e. basically knowing someone personally involved in the charity. Which is how I ended up with them in the first place! That mention of bottle top shirts might be it though - none of the shirts I've got are of the designs I really liked or most associated with good times. Whereas I'm sure I'd treasure a bottle top shirt actually, or the blue NR SBR era one.
  4. I just happened to be watching Fox News when this broke, and they were all over it like stink on shit. Not a mention of the terror attacks in Europe or Africa, and only begrudging coverage of the funeral service for the Charleston victims. Absolutely fucking obsessed. Some seem to even be hoping Texas will seceed rather than allow their ban to be overturned, so there can be another Civil War. Loons.
  5. Your loss. I guess after a hard week's accounting you're all out of adrenaline for the weekend
  6. Other than the reasons I gave at the start, it reminds us of a more peaceful time when the only thing we had to worry about was the spectre of instant death at the hands of a nuclear blast. What's there not to be fascinated about? More interesting than Schteve MCcClarren any day. Ignore it all you want, but if you miss it, you'll not see it's like again in your lifetime.....and it's one of those few things in life that you need to experience yourself, others telling you what it's like or watching it on Youtube doesn't even come close.
  7. Sitting on the sofa with a can is the only way to enjoy Glasto. Especially now you can actually choose which bands to listen to. It's possibly the most chilled out I ever get without the aid of candles and the warm touch of Gem's ex giving me a nice deep massage.
  8. This is just a reminded that this is happening tomorrow...... I'd never been to the aircraft museum before but it turns out it's piss easy to get to even if you don't have a car - it's right next to the Nissan factory (north side). You can get the 56 bus from Newcastle or Sunderland, or the 50 bus from Durham or South Shields. Don't make the mistake of thinking the buses go right past the museum along the Old Washington Road, they don't - you have to get off at the Nissan Offices bus stop about 200m to the west on the A road (it's all signposted, both the Nissan offices, and the museum has the usual brown tourist sign). All seems to be well with the aircaft, it's made all but one of its displays in June, and the sole cancellation doesn't appear to have been for mechanical reasons. Those with twitter who are of a nervous disposition can check progress tomorrow - it's taking off at 1pm (it's based at Doncaster Robin Hood) and will be over the museum at 1.43pm precisely, weather/operational factors permitting. From there it's heading up to East Lothian before coming down the west coast via Carlisle, although sadly this doesn't mean it will be flying over Newcastle - for some reason (presumably noise) after the museum it's being routed out to sea to shadow the coast line and doesn't come back inland until Alnwick (map on their site if you're interested). God knows what's going on with the Sunderland Air Show - the Vulcan still appears to have a gap in its schedule, but it wasn't mentioned when the show officially launched earlier this month. Haven't checked Faceboook or owt, so if anyone finds something post it here, but I fear that ship has sailed. Some might have also seen the news that's occurred since I posted this, that they're bringing back the airshow at Durham Tees Valley (Saturday 29 August) and the Vulcan's going to be there, so that's good news if you've forgotten about the appearance tomorrow. But sadly it's not a full display, just a flypast, the same as is happening tomorrow. And obviously the DTV is a lot further away too (despite the name, it's basically twice as far away from Newcastle as Durham itself is, so getting there would be a darn sight harder). If you can't make any of there, then basically it's Glasgow, or somewhere so far south it becomes a bit of a major trip.
  9. You gotta laugh, this is really beyond pathetic. To have signed no-one by this stage would have been poor by Ashley's previously established standards of how to run a club, but to be in it after he'd said we were now going to be showing ambition.......I mean seriously, if there is anyone out there still clinging on to the blind hope that the stadium and the fans is still enough to lure players here, wise up. The game is up, every cunt out there knows what this club is about now. Only by paying over the odds can we even hope to compete with the likes of West Brom now.
  10. I've got a few signed shirts after I went through a phase of buying up memorabilia while pissed at charity events. I've even got Keegan's sig on one I think, as I went to one of the do's he did at the Fed. Now they're all just sitting in a cupboard, although one shirt is framed, but I can't even be arsed to hang it up. I can't decide if it's because I've fallen out of love with the club because of Ashley, or just because I never really wanted any of them in the first place. Now that the buzz of buying them has long since faded, I feel an odd sense of detachment from them. Quite disturbing really, all told.
  11. It's funny because the lawyer tried to claim there's no legal difference between slowing down and stopping.
  12. Oh dear, it looks like Stevie is a right creepie. He wanted this guy to post a pic, he wanted me to post my voice. I wonder what he's asked the lasses to post......
  13. RIP Ray. Sounds like he was a top bloke.
  14. 40, balding and an accountant eh? I kind of wish I'd never learned that tbh. I quite liked the image I'd built up of you based on your patter on here Strange that you never had kids, stayed friends with your ex and stayed in your shared home all that time since she left........is exactly what every potential date on Match.com will be thinking. Good luck!
  15. I'm actually concerned that he doesn't change anything major at all, he genuinely seemed to think it was the greatest show on the planet. I'd class myself as a fan of what JC turned it into, but I have to admit I was getting pretty bored with it these last few seasons, they'd definitely run out of new ideas - they were simply tweaking minor details of past features - the races, the specials, the challenges. Ironically it was only the changes in car technology that were bringing something new each year, such as the various hybrids.
  16. I can't see a win at all in the first 4 games.
  17. Odd thing to say if you weren't. Since I think it's obvious you were, the 'offer' is still declined.
  18. Sad day indeed when The Sun comes across as holding the moral high ground over the club. Not sure who said it, but someone on the radio recently made the point that seeking to control the media is what cunts all around the world try to do. The stuff being reported might be shit, but it sure as hell isn't going to improve under this system. It really is bizarre though to see what the club thinks are commercial revenue streams. Makes you wonder what's next.
  19. Listen you spacka, the 'thing' in question didn't even remotely constitute what was required to pull off that particular idea, so me doing it would achieve the square root of fuck all without the other things happening too, which is where AO.com would have had to have stepped in with their resources (the details of which is what HF doggedly avoided addressing in his replies, which he has now at least clarified was simply a piss take). People in here really need to shut the fuck up if they're not intimately familiar with the various ideas being discussed. The link to them has now been re-posted, so nobody's got any excuse any more......
  20. Thanks for the admission. Too little too late though, given all the shit I've been at the receiving end for not taking you seriously. Nonsense. The Puma campaign was a targetted and focused campaign against one sponsor, the Ashley embargo by comparison is an unmitigated mess. Not sure what you think has already been done for the inspire campaign, but I've certainly see nothing that even came close to what I had in mind.
  21. He was on the One Show earlier, and claimed all that refusing was just his way of getting out of the whole drama post resignation, and he seemed to think Hammond & May would carry on with someone else. After they definitely said no, he was approached to produce and present the show. He's now opening up the other slots to auditions - not necessarily to celebs - all you need is a passion for and a knowledge about cars. He'll be giving full details on his radio show tomoz, in case anyone here wants to apply Anyone thinking he's going to change the format though will probably disappointed, he basically said he thought the show was brilliant as it was, and he couldn't remember seeing a bad episode. Opinions on that may vary, but it's hard not to argue with the fact that the outright success of the show was clearly down to its format, the daft antics and perhaps the 'chemistry' - its outperformed all other shows which focus more on cars more in the veign of the older format Top Gear. And it's also destroyed all other stunt/bants based formats too, although being on the BBC probably helps with that too.
  22. Classic Fish. The reason you're not also 'refuting' Cat Mag for agreeing with what I said is because you're a total bellend. End of.
  23. You can't refute anything Fish. You try, but you never succeed. It's basically your thing on here. That and being too much of a coward to even think about back-chatting regulars like Cat Mag the way you try to do to me. Proper bellend behaviour that.
  24. They said no way they would, so.......yes! Clarkson can survive without the BBC, but I'm not so sure there's that much of a market for the sort of stuff the other two were cranking out in the off seasons.
  25. Fish is always up in my business. He can't get enough of it.
