  1. Think it was the main reason. It seems he was also a general pain in the arse with regard to some idea of fair play and had other good intentions with regard to moving America back in the right direction. He was generally against corruption in Washington as well and refused to just sit back and 'play the game'...In short it started to look like he was quite dangerous to usual power brokers. JFK and aliens. Two conspiracies for the price of one.
  2. We definitely can't mate. Second only to Ashley Cole iyam. And if he tried to play a bit less football with it in defensive areas of the pitch and saved that solely for the counter attacking then I'd say on balance he'd be on a par with Cole for overall value. Definitely won't get better. (And Beresford wasn't that good really much as I liked the guy). These Entertainers glasses are rose tinted. Look how strong Jose is. The thing that goes unnoticed, well maybe it does, is that often Right wingers would be at the left back when they try to shepherd the ball out of play. They barely even both when against Enrique as he becomes as wide as the touchline and the edge of the box. No way past him with the strength he has and his positional awareness. He'll actually be one of them players I tell my son about when he's abit older. The Bull is dead, long live the Bull. Think I'm actually a little bit huckle for him. Nah I agree with all of that. He's in that class of player where theres certain types of tackle/passages of play that you don't see him engaged in at all because he simply doesn't give the attacker the option. That and he then gets the ball up the pitch. It'll be a fucking massive wrench.

Definitely won't get better. (And Beresford wasn't that good really much as I liked the guy). Only got caught out against ManUtd(a) last year, iirc. I appreciate himself and Colo trying to play it out of trouble in an attempt to start an attack. One of the genuinely positive and entertaining parts of our play. I think it's great overall, I just think theres times when it's not suitable and something like vs Man U would be one match where you knocked it on the head for 90 minutes. For instance I don't think Liverpool would let him do it. At the end of the day though, it's precisely because he's so talented/comfortable on the ball that he carries it. He could play in any midfield if he'd followed that path instead.
  4. Theres definitely three levels of player (at least) in our back four like which is a bit weird to say the least. Two absolute international class players alongside the likes of (lower Prem) S Taylor, Simpson (Championship) Willo, (Dog and Duck) Perch. The younguns I'm not bothering assessing as it's way too early. Squad players need to be top Championship level at the very least but we've had regular starters who are no better than that.

  6. Would echo that. Darlo is always a pretty big pick up for toon fans on the train up I've noticed.
  7. man utd fans are gutted.....http://www.redcafe.net/f6/goodbye-john-oshea-334842/ Yeah it looks like there's a near mutiny on about it over there.
  8. The Man U fans think he's absolute gash. Which he is.
  9. *WEEP WEEP*.. Prediction tracker ...*WEEP* http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?showtopic=30605 Forgot about that. I notice CT has Barton down as captain and never playing for us again How is this judged by the way? Is it purely the number of predictions you get right or the percentage of predictions made that you get right? Because CT has a history of predicting diametrically opposed outcomes doesn't he?

  11. For completeness, I guess that question has to become: in periods when the club is losing money, do the fans accept that the club should be spending no money on transfers? I know this typically then reverts to the 'speculate to accumulate' reserve position, but it does become a bit of a 'cake-and-eat-it' argument if we're being honest. Ie Spend when you're making money. Spend when you're not making money. Spend when you're losing money.
  12. I think anywhere from £10 to £15m net would be acceptable. However, the most important thing is that if Enrique does go they have replacement (e.g. M'Bengue) and that they bring at least one more striker in that looks capable of getting 15+ goals. If that happens, with no else leaving then i dont really care what the net spend is. There will be people complaining but they will be the same people who get lost in the financial discussions and claim that they dont care about finances, only the football. The inherent contradiction will be lost on them too. Agree. They have the means but have they the will? Spending £35M for the sake of it is crackers, however I'd expect them to get in what we need without looking at the loose change in their hands, wondering if they've enough money. We get in a striker who we'll be confident will do well in this division as well as the cover then I'll be a lot happier too. It's about improving our side. We really are at a junction this year, we are capable of moving on but will we? We could just as easy struggle if the wrong decisions are made this summer, if wrong decisions are made for purely thrifts sake then that'll be a disgrace. As ever, it's in the clubs hands. I've very little trust in them and could anyone blame me for that? I'd add my voice to that too broadly speaking as it really is just be about the players lining up for the first game of the season vs those that finished last season for me (including Carroll, given the timing of his sale). All focus on the the net spend mirroring the Carroll money is a bit daft iyam. We know when Ashley and Dekka are taking the piss so you're always alert to that flannel, but there's progress that can be made short of a somewhat irrelevant £35 million net spend 'target'.
  13. I was thinking that like. He's blatantly spat the dummy out about that Weirdly enough, the Shola thread post dates his 'racist chinning' post above.
  14. Paul Wynn with a season ticket in the family stand What a fucking nightmare.
  15. I read in the Lonely Planet there's about 600,000 people on Crete and 1m+ guns I've been to Crete like, went to this place for a trip called the Samarian Gauge, beautiful place like but fuck me, I saw this scorpion, and shit mesel, easily the claimed size of J69's cock. Murder for creepy crawlies the greek isles. Was going to do that walk when I was there until I realised it was a four hour drive and the trip was heading off at 4 am to miss the worst of the heat. I did a smaller, much quieter gorge walk though that came out at this beach (Ayiofarango or something - it means Holy Gorge). It was amazing. I did it on my own as wor lass wasn't having any of that when she could be sunning herself. It's a really beautiful place. The inland mountains look a bit like the Lakeland fells, although they're a canny bit bigger. I love how everywhere you go they give you a shot of Raki and have one with you. We went to this place at about tea time for a coffee / ice cream and as it was quiet (think the lass working there was bored) the waitress had about 3 shots with us in the space of half an hour. I'm definitely going back. I was just 11 years of age when I was there like but I remember how class that Samarian Gauge was it hasn't really got a comparison in this country, felt like being on Raiders of The Lost Ark well the last one I forget its name. As for where we stayed I think Chania was shite, and Heraklion was too built up for a beach holiday was pretty shite, was nee Paphos or Ayia Napa that's for certain. Heraklion was bombed during the war which is why it's such a clip now. Only really explored a small bit of Crete though as I was only there a week and it's so big / difficult to traverse with it being so mountainous. I stayed on the south coast. I've read about other places / seen photos that look amazing though. Elafonisi for example. I think in general in Greece it's best to get off the beaten track like. Aye there's a few modern monstrosities there like. There's a NUFC connection to Crete do you know what it is? Nah, unless Georgiadis or Dabizas are from there (just guessing). That's where we signed Papavassiliou from, he looked mint against Hartlepool pre season.... Was at that game. Lovely summers day, good following of Mags down there, Papavassiliou got the ball, held off one of their players and put a canny pass through to one of wor lot. This bloke next to us was mortalic, he gans, "Geddin nicky Papa-lappa-wappa-woah-ya-fucka" as he struggled to get his name. Was funny as fuck at the time. Anyone remember them playing Zorba the Greek before the game when it was his birthday? One of the more surreal pre-match tunes I've heard when standing on the Milburn Paddock.
  16. Seriously, I'll never understand why anyone bothers with other toon forums.
  17. pmsl You know what, that was my fault, I was insistent the lad was Paul Wyn, and fair play he proved me wrong. However, when that pic went up, after everyone posting something every 30 seconds in the thread the pic went up, and nobody said anything for 8 minutes. If they were like me it will have been cos they couldn't breathe for laughter. The back of my head was hurting so fucking much with laughter. One of my favourite toontastic moments that like. The thing is with this place, even when people get it wrong the crack that results is class. Sometimes it's even better as a result in fact. I was actually crying laughing at some of them photoshops. And as you say, fair play to the lad for taking it in such good jest so early on in his posting. Not seen him since mind.
  18. I hope you all realise that in a parallel universe this scenario ended with CT falling through the loft on his hands and knees and his missus discovering him after Eastenders clutching an old bank statement in his cold dead hand and a look of triumph and terror on his face. As he never posted in response, Gemmill went away congratulating himself on rooting out a scurrilous liar and a cheat, never to have that Scrooge like error-of-his-ways reclamation that he so badly needed.
  19. Post a photo of yourself with the statement and the words "I am not Paul Wynn" scrawled over the top. Then we'll let it lie.
  20. England just gone 2-0 up. To be totally fair the close ball control and some of the touches are technically very good indeed. Pass selection over anything more than 15 yards tends to look a bit naive though.
