  1. You have it all wrong. It is like a cup final for NUFC. Like a cup final for NUFC!
  2. I agree that the power is with the Saudis. They don't seem to have made any decisions so far that would indicate that they would sack Howe. We lose to Sunderland and that means nothing to them. I would imagine the PSG results would mean more, based on ownership, and we won one, drew one. Didn't it take Howe ages to get the first win against Burnley or did it just feel like a life time?
  3. Not one part of me wants Howe to go, however, if they were going to bin him off, I think that they would give him a while to turn it around. They seem on the ball- they didn't even rush the Steve Bruce sacking. They didn't need to appoint straight away. They could have sacked him, had us all happy and dithered. I just cannot see this happening. They don't even rush into player purchases and that is an easier decision to make in terms of business to do.
  4. He may be performing miracles at Girona. However, I have seen two versions of Joelinton, Murphy, Lascelles. I'll stick.
  5. I think that is what made me end up lurking here instead of Newcastle-Online as I used to visit both places. The humour here was a more on my level. I think the dossier did get some stick but also some weird level of support. I admired the love and desire for the club, but it did come across as a bit unhinged to me.
  6. I have never thought about that. It makes so much sense. Every day, you learn something new. Thank you.
  7. Was that someone on here or Newcastle-Online. I have a vague memory of some section about golf courses.
  8. FFP does nothing but protect the positions at the top of the table. Manchester United have a sponsor for their food vendors etc. Don't they? I think we need to be far pettier than adding to the St James' Park. I cannot see why we cannot have the Sela stairway. A Noon concord with a yellow floor. Saudi Airways floodlights. We could get someone to sponsor those stools that the ball boys sit on. There are loads of them as well. Aramaco could sponsor the tunnel.
  9. I think an obligation to buy could be dangerous for our FFP. Not too bothered that he hasn't played under Pep. Pep is very open about having set ways of playing and that certain players just do not fit into those roles. I think he said something along these lines about Walker. I hope that Philips comes under this heading. He was great at Leeds and I enjoyed watching him play for England. We went for months without playing Bruno, Tonali hardly played for us before his ban. Howe moulded them into what he wanted where as Pep has more luxury of having a wealth of talent to not need to do this as much.
  10. Dubs had an amazing set of saves yesterday which reminded me of how puzzled I was when we decided to go for Pope. The difference for Botman is big though because Pope tends to sweep more and Dubs seems to sit further back. Obviously, we cannot expect Dubs to play further up as that would potentially be disastrous but I think it will lead to a few of the issues like the Nunez chance until they are more used to each other. Botman will also improve his match fitness as well.
  11. This is a hard game. When it comes to a local game, all bets are off. When it comes to teams playing lower leagues, again, it can be all bets off. I think we have enough to be able to win this. I trust in Howe. I think PIF know what they are doing. I didn't understand why we were after Emery or Howe. All I knew about Howe was that he had managed Bournemouth and I hadn't even factored in if he was there when he was relegated. Emery was another one I couldn't understand and now I can see what he is doing at Villa. I doubt that a team that managed to put together two really good candidates, manage to support out network to bring in the likes of Bruno (I don't believe many heard of him him before he came here), Botman (again an unknown) Burn (we all predicted how well that would work out) are going to make rash decisions. I think they are far colder than we are and it is good to see. West Ham really struggled to manage Europe and the Premier League last year. This is a normal thing. We are probably going to be a bit of a yoyo club for a while. At least it is Champions League and not Championship for a change.
  12. What a load of nonsense. Maybe they should have stopped Shelvey's goal. Stopping play prematurely could also lead to events that could cause an injury. You cannot say with a full strength squad that the game would be the same.
  13. Can we merge this thread with the 'Mackem Message board Gold' thread yet?
  14. Is this place going to be like this until we beat Sunderland on Saturday? I just want to understand what I am going to be enjoying for the next week.
  15. I am still trying to see his link to Rose. I am completely flummoxed.
  16. If we had Pope and 3 of the following: Willock, Wilson, Tonali, Trippier, Anderson, Barnes or Murphy then the players on the pitch would be able to do more as they know that they are not going to need to play the full 90. We only had Miggy who could come on and it was a good injection of some energy. I haven't got the foggiest where Gordon got the little burst of energy from when he set up the goal. I think, given the limitations of the squad, Howe has us in a good place. There have been frustrations but there are still more positives. We were second best all around but still needed some very dubious decisions.
  17. I think the Jose ship has sailed. I was also convinced he would be here one day but it feels like the right appointment but always the wrong time for one party or the other.
  18. This is what I meant by unrealistic. Have you seen how many manager that they get through. Not many people left by the time you rule all of them out of the equation.
  19. At least try and put some effort into this. It makes it more fun.
  20. Not buying into this at all. It is fans with unrealistic and unreasonable expectations, like you, who hounded him (and his family) out of the club. If Steven Bruce, a family man, did not care about us, why would he have recommended Steven Gerard or Eddie Howe to take over?
  21. I have also never seen Jose do this. Sorry, but it is a no for me. Even if we have to stick with Howe, and I appreciate that must be hard for the majority of us- given the lack of improvement since he has taken over- I think I will just about manage to get some sleep.
