I don't know what you mean. We were trying to buy Ekitike whilst maintaining that Isak wasn't for sale. What more evidence do you need that we are in a position to buy before we sell? Whether we were buying Ekitike to play them together or sell Isak, the point stands that we were selling before buying. Which is all I'm saying we'll do with Sesko. We don't need to sell before we buy.

We started trying to sign Ekitike before Liverpool came in for Isak though, so at the very least we had the money and the inclination to buy him without selling Isak.

It's immaterial if there's no interest from Man United in him though. Unless he wants to stay at Leipzig pining for a future playing for those bellends.

I don't even know how concrete their interest is in him. They don't need another experiment, they need someone they know will work in the PL. As you say though, everything you read seems to suggest that Sesko is more than they can afford at the minute and they're shopping around £20m or so lower than that. Leipzig will know better than us if there's any concrete interest from Man United. If there isn't then there's fuck all incentive in them stringing us along, but if there is this could run long unfortunately.

I think it's the other way around on Sesko/Isak. I don't think we'll allow Isak to go until we've replaced him. The one thing we absolutely cannot afford to do is sell him and then fail to bring someone in, and that's at leat one thing that's in our control. Plus the price on anyone we're after goes up once Isak leaves. So for all of the above reasons I think we'll buy before we sell Isak.
