1. spot on. Owens goals are saving us from a relegation scrap. At the rate he is currently scoring we might, just might, finish in the top half of the table. Cue those who defend Souness saying he has "succeeded" when he took over a squad/team that was 5th, and spent 50m quid on it. Odd way of thinking. To me, its a definite failure and cock up of the 3rd degree. 51368 As I pointed out to you a couple of days ago, you're becoming a parody of yourself with the constant references to Souness in every thread you post in. Just enjoy the fact that we're having a good spell instead of droaning on about Souness man. FFS.
2. To be fair though, half an hour wandering round Sunderland probably got him thinking that things could be a lot worse than sitting on the bench for the afternoon.
3. He's reappeared apparently and is sat behind the dugout. What a knob tbh.
4. The pro-Robert camp were unavailable for comment.
5. Alain Perrin announces the team, Robert isn't in it, so he gets up and walks out of the dressing room, leaving Portsmouth short on the subs bench. Not a pick of bother that lad like, definitely one we should have persevered with. Could well be the end of him in the Premiership - we aren't gonna want him back and it's unlikely Perrin will want to go on working with him. Great pro though.
6. I suspect Five are persevering with him in the hopes that he'll undergo a Lineker-esque transformation. Lineker was fucking dreadful when first started presenting an'all.
7. Well, technically, that used to be true. 50675 Watch it, anyway don't you do a lass's job? 50677 Case of mistaken identity I think. I'm a professional loafer - how many of them are women? 50678 I thought you were a nurse mate. 50680 Fucking hell, I would be a disgrace to the nurses' profession, the amount of time I'm on here! I'm a medical writer. 50692 I hope you're a bit less fucking pessimistic in your medical writings than you are on here. "If symptoms persist.....you'll probably die"
8. Alex, we all know that this comment is good craic anaral but lets be honest it is the best argument against how even a football expert can get it so wrong. If a manager like SBR of impeccable credentials can be wrong just what does it say about someone like Souness and some of his decisions. 50656 By football expert you mean Blaydon, right? 50658 Yeah because Blaydon picked the starting 11 for what, at least the last 4 years, prior to Souness and he often told the press how Viana was a DM. 50660 Is this the sort of thing that the whoosh was invented for?
9. Re Bellamy and him getting a slagging on here. I thought Bellamy was a good player when he was here and I still think he's a good player now. I also thought he was a total prick as a bloke while he was here and suspect he's still one now, although I'm subjected to less of it. Just to clear things up on that point.
10. 50585 Dramatic license, what I mean is we are really going to struggle, which is down the pan compared to a couple of years back, in my mind. Next years financial report will be far worse than this; people seem to be oblivious to this. But hey, . Never mind, eh? 50589 Seriously though, you are right about the dividend issue. Last year they pretty much cleared out the remainder of the profit with a dividend payment of 3.95m, to bring us down to a breakeven point. This year we were already in a small loss position prior to any dividend being paid, but they've paid themselves the same 3.95m. Ridiculous really. And yep, next year's results will definitely be worse.
11. Show me another company, in football or anywhere else, that would give this level of dividends despite the fact the company is going down the pan. You won't be able to. NUFC is a joke amongst financiers, not that you would care. 50566 No it's a joke to you... Gemmill is a 'financier' and seems to have an understanding of what's going on! Is he saying it's a joke? 50576 To be fair, I'm only an accountant. The results aren't great but they've certainly dispelled the myth that we can't survive without Champions League football - we're still turning an albeit significantly reduced profit, although it should be noted that that includes a decent profit on disposal of players, which we won't be repeating every year, which is slightly worrying (without those disposals we would have made a loss). I think Renton is being somewhat hysterical with his "the club is going down the pan" comments, but that's just his way of dealing with things. 50582 Clear as mud. 50587 I'm pitching this to those of average intelligence and above, mate. I'll put something a bit simpler together for you later.

13. *gulps* 50436 Robson's payoff? 50492 Souness's unfeasibly large and incompetent entourage? 50507 It's Robson's payoff as it's classed as an "exceptional item". It could also be any compensation that we may have paid to Blackburn for Souness - don't know whether we did or not though. 50508 Fair enough, but the increased salary expenditure isn't exceptional, is it? And if Souness does (hopefully) get the boot, won't he have an even bigger "exceptional" pay off considering the amount of cronies he has taken onboard? 50510 The increase is 5million quid. I would think that most of that is Robson's payoff. There will be a compensation payout should we get rid of Souness, but that's just business isn't it? If you dismiss someone in a highly paid position then you have to accept there'll be a financial cost. I would think Souness is on quite a bit less than Robson though, although I'm just guessing.
14. Not a lot really. The results are clearly not as good as the previous year and they'll be worse this coming year with the reduced revenue from not being in Europe. The purchases of Owen and Luque would have no impact on the results in terms of profit though, other than a higher depreciation charge, although that's offset by some of the sales we've made too. That's enough accountancy speak from me anyway.

16. Leazes Mag wrote him off as lacking heart after a game and a half IIRC. I know you weren't around at the time though.
17. Not wishing to take anyone's side (cos I can't be arsed to get into this) but one of the Spaniards at work who knows his football reckons Luque operates best as a left-sided midfielder. I'm just lashing out cos you've dissed my main man, Souness, tbh.
18. Take caution in your tone, commander. I'm a fair man, but this —— heat is making me absolutely crazy.
19. That suit is fucking enormous like. Best of luck to him. Hope it works out.
20. I fucking hope not. The thought of an amorous HTL is frankly terrifying.
21. HTL's got the Eye of the Tiger, if that's any use.
