1. MY Source: My cousin's (who isn't in to football) mate (who is) did some business this week with a guy from Newcastle who has strong links with the club. This guy said he was personal friends with John Carver and the agent who represented Lua Lua and that he knew Bruce Shepherd (who i assume is a relative of Freddie, may be one of who can clarify that). Now, i don't normally like reading gossip because it's mostly b*ll*x or impossible to substantiate but things have gone a bit quiet on here I didn't make this stuff up and nor did my cousin's mate but the Geordie might of, ok! NUFC: Has money to spend but is not going to advertise it. The club is due for a massive cash injection when a propsed casino gets the go ahead some time very soon. Shepherd: Bruce Shepherd said that Freddie had put £6m in to the club and had taken £82m out. My cousin's mate asked him if FS had been behind the Luque transfer, this guy said he had. Management: The only other candidate FS approached was Terry Venebles. NUFC pulled out because of a conversation between Shepherd and Gibson revealed Venebles was playing the 2 clubs off against each other to get the best salary. O'Neil was never in the running because of his wife. Souness attacked a couple of players, not just Bellamy. Shearer will be GR's assistant - Shearer himself said he is not ready for management yet but in 2 years time it will be different. Saunders: When Shearer was practicing a free kick routine after training and scoring regularly Saunders came over and told him he won't be doing on match day because Saunder's said so, Shearer told him to f**K off. Shearer: Normally gives the half time team talks not the manager. Regularly loses his temper in training or at half time and starts slapping the other players around. Victimised Robert and slapped him about often. Hated Bellamy and went for him a couple of times. The pro longed injury period last year was partly an internal suspension because he attacked another player. He will be GR's assistant but not next year, he is contracted to do some tv work. Shearer is great with young kids. Bellamy: Widely hated at the club, used to call everyone names, wound Stephen Carr up so much, Carr decked him. Robert: Fell out with the other players who then refused to pass him the ball if they had any other option, was completely ostracized within the club, especially by Shearer. Butt: Wants to come back and play. Milner: GR wants him in the squad. Ameobi: Current plan is to have him and Owen up front next season. Luque: They may decide to try him for another year. O'Brien (Alan): Man Utd after him. Pattison: Has a BIG future apparently. Faye & Boumsong: Won't be here next season. If i remeber anything else i'll post it up. Should be enough there to start a few rows anyway
2. If our scouts have watched him already why does GR need to see how he performs in the WC? Touraments are no way to judge how a player will do in the league imo.
3. This is truly terrible news for me, hopefully it will stay a rumour
4. Arsenal are getting their sh*t back together then If Liverpool sign a decent CB and a good CF we are gonna be a loooooooong way behind the top 4.
5. Shearer will be the MOST gutted FACTAHJAHRASTA
6. We need a striker who can play with his back to goal. If we sell Owen we might be able to buy Gudjonsen and Defoe with the money. Defoe doesn't strike me as the stablest of characters though.
7. Renton.....people on here constantly don't answer my questions. I have answered what I have seen, you are crucifying the board for making one shit appointment, and attempting to re-write history concering the others. I have gave you facts and examples that show the replacement manager is what is important, not the timing. Manu appointed Ferguson, and Arsenal appointed Wenger during the season. Alex Ferguson was not specifically targetted by ManU . Liverpool also specifically targetted Evans, and the Evans / Houillier partnership, both of which were not successful and were changed because of that. Newcastle United also specifically targetted Bobby Robson who stayed manager for 5 years because he did well and not because it was a 5 year plan . Facts. And things change quickly in football, another reason why "5 year plans" are an utter load of shite. 138433 I am constantly told by my elders that when Van Gaal took over Ajax he stated publicly that he would need 3-5 years to nuture the good young players and turn the team into great one. What does Van Gaal or the Ajax board know about football though, eh? Nowt, obviously 138437 Cheers for answering my questions. Proof that if someone can't answer, they don;t bother. And I fail to see the relevance of the comments of Van Gaal when ALL managers say this ie I need time. Including Souness. 138446 I have no idea what point you have just tried to make
8. Given the money we've spent i think NUFC has under achieved since Keegan left. SBR turned it around for a bit. Given under achievement has been a consistent factor, what has been the common denominator? I'm well aware that you've seen the club in far worse conditions, so has my dad and uncle, but you're the only one who seems to believe throwing money at a problem is the only answer, well you and FS obviously.

10. Used to think you were one of the better posters because you didn't post jibbering shite. I'll answer it anyway. I have almost every Mag - ever. A quick browse through those during Gullits time, along with the video footage of the day he joined the club, proves the utter futility of your comments. See above. Also 1 cup more than us, [along with leaving a team that went on to more] which we would have been delighted to win in that final. Correct or not ? For the record, I wasn't too bothered about Gullit because I wasn't impressed by all the "let me entertain you" crap. And never have been. I did however, hope he would repeat his FA Cup success, being a trophy winner that according to some "we don't appoint" 138391 Well, i've given up on getting much that's sensible out of you a while ago. Shame, i think it's good when people have opposing views, one can learn. People's mind's should have a degree of fluidity to their thinking, not you though. Pure dogma, massive generalisations of other people's opinions, failure to even entertain other's point of view and glimpses of a political outlook that borders on bigotry. You're fast becoming proof that age and wisdom have no correlation. 138419 massively hypocritical in view of the first line of your last post, which was the point of my reply. Fact also is, whether you choose to re-write history or not, the vast majority of the clubs support was happy with Gullit at the time. Unless you weren't there to see for yourself of course. 138422 Not so, as i stated my view then asked others their's. I did not assume them to be one or the other, huge assumptions is your job.
11. would it be good news if henry, gerrard, lampard, ronaldo, rooney, terry, rio, cech, alonso etc. all left england? None of them would be playing against us then? But then we wouldnt see the skills and goals they produce on a weekly basis and wed end up with a league full of jason roberts! 138395 That's not what I said is it? If Henry leaves, it would be good news for us in my view as it would mean a potential rival for the 4th CL place losing their best player. It would also, in my opinion have zero impact on any of the other players you mention deciding to stay or leave. 138400 Unfortunately, i think we are a couple of years away from such heady heights.

13. Are Shepherd and LM the only people who think that Gullit was a top class, brilliantly successful manager? Anyone else on here think he was hot stuff? He won 1 cup? I think he's a pr1ck when it comes to management, you'd only have to a little bit of investigating his time at Chelsea to find that out. My dad & uncle were seriously disapointed when NUFC plumped for Gullit.
14. He's been the best CF in the prem imo (controversial on here, but there you go) and i love to watch him play. Arsenal without him and maybe Campbell, Cole and Pires would be a much, much weaker side. I don't think they have the players yet to fill those gaps, although i also believe Wenger doesn't get much wrong. However, even bereft of that lot, i don't think we'll competing with them any time soon. Shame we couldn't keep momentum from SBR's time, but GS sety us back a loooooooong way imo. I think he should move to Barca to fulfil his footballing ambitions though. Maybe he wants to be the biggest fish in a smaller pond.
15. Personally, i'm happy with his stance on this. I think our signings do need to be investigated carefully, i'm sure Wenger does something similar. As for the June bit, i think that if we have any interest in a player and he's interested in us, he won't sign for the first other club who makes him an offer. I'll be vary curious to see how Roeder does in the transfer market and his approach makes me optimistic. Time will tell though...
16. If he goes (and i don't rate him partricularly highly) without Roeder actually seeing him, it will leave me thinking that 1 of 2 things are at work here. 1) We are so far up sh*t creek financially due to the club allowing a person everybody knows is a pr1ck (except the man who employed him) to spend amazing amounts of money with a c.v. that's never even sniffed league success in England. 2) Roeder's opinion is not being sought on this matter.
17. Are you sure? I thought it was another russian businessman who backed the front that bought Corinthians. 137427 I'm sure as well it is something to do with Roman who financed the moves for Tevez and Mascherano 137430 Kia Joorbabchian is the front and i believe the money comes from a certain Boris Berezovsky.

19. Was stronger than Hughes (Aaron) i reckon...
20. That's 'cause he's a good player.
21. *kisses teeth and raises eyebrows* 136769 136773 Just the weight of his dreads pulling his scalp back tbh
22. You are completely unable to grasp the fact that everyone makes mistakes in football Alex. 136716 There are mistakes, then there are gargantuan fuck-ups. Only an idiot or an eternal optimist would have thought that Souness's tenure would have been anything other than the latter. 136724 Strange that such a brilliant board of directors thought fit to appoint him as well eh ? Along with all of those people who backed his changes, therefore backing the board appointing him ... of only myself, Renton, HTL and only one or two others said would be disastrous. 136731 Who backed Souness then eh? All those people my arse. I never wanted him and I'd love to see you find one little bit of support for him from me. To be honest, I think the general mood was one of stunned, silent, apathy; as was obvious from the crowd at the matches. Plus, as has been pointed out many times, the only person who backed him who mattered was Shepherd. 136737 From my memory few, if any, people were happy with the appointment. Even Gemmill only supported him by successfully talking himself into the notion that we needed a "no nonsense" manager, and then foolishly sticking to his guns when it was obviously not working. And iirc, HTL gave Souness a fair old chance before turning on him too. But as you say, the relevance of this in somehow exonerating Shepherd of blame is lost on me. It was an idiotic appointment, and what type of person makes an idiotic appointment? An idiot, surely. This time round I don't think any of us are as worried with the appointment, but for some us there is still a strong sense of disappointment. 136748 You'd be good at Rap i reckon...
23. It's not wasted on me Alex, don't worry

Your avid 'spin' is largely having the opposite effect of your intentions. Try something different.
25. As much as i am utterly bored by LM's resilient but pointless defence of Freddie Shepherd i think i understand his position. He has seen quite a few very bad chariman at NUFC and in his appraisal of Freddie, LM's position is that the cup is very much half full rather than half empty. I see it as a bizarre form of optimism, less extreme than that of Gemmil's initial view of Souness but of the same ilk
