  1. Leeds have done more than Bolton in the last 10-15 years but I doubt many players will think about that. They will look at where the club is NOW and unfortunately we have been shit for a number of years. More highly rated manager. European Football. Cup winning season. Based in the capital. As much as you want to argue about the whole "5th best club" etc etc.. the fact is right now they are a more attractive club. If we had replaced Robson with a manager who was even close to his level then maybe it would be a different story and we can't blame that on Ashley and Mort.
  2. Is Triggy a WUM? Dunne is easily worth £5m even if he is in the last year of his contract.
  3. I don't agree, and I can't be arsed to argue. They shouldn't be a better proposition than we are, is my view, and shelling out the money is one way to prove we are better, and probably the only way right now. I don't see how having a billionaire owner makes us a better club than them right now. I think you're looking at this through black and white tinted glasses and the fact that you can't put up a defence leads me to believe that you know that yourself. But if you don't want to discuss it then fair enough, we'll agree to disagree. odd, but its others who have rose tinted specs - black and white ones - if Fat Fred was in charge and this happened you'd be slating for all its worth. Like I said, I can't be arsed, there's nowt to say, other than Spurs have mugged us twice [not happened in 20 years] but see it as you like. I think its a worrying indictment that we are getting mugged again by clubs smaller than we are. and no doubt you would be defending him for all its worth. sadly for you, I don't recall him [and Hall Jnr don't forget] being mugged twice by smaller clubs like Spurs for players that the manager wanted, othewise I most certainly wouldn't, but maybe the fact that it didn't happen to them is still beyond your comprehension and might explain my "defence" of them , as you call it. As said before Shepherd and Co lost out on quite a few players by not putting the money forward. Others have pointed out why Spurs are more attractive than us so I don't think I really need to point it out again. Another reason they are more attractive than us at the moment is the poor choice of managers during the last years of Shepherds reign which set us back a lot. I suppose Mort has failed this season though as he couldn't instantly get us into a champions league place.
  4. Edit: ah fuck it look for yourself! http://www.flickr.com/photos/alexachung/2281282402/
  5. It was only a couple of hours after Sky Sports News predicted it aswell, well done

  7. Passing Kelly Osbourne something explosive.
  8. She should have said she fell off the cliff
  9. Well that was obviously a little too close to the bone
  10. Someone didn't seem to bothered about that Modric (whoever the fuck he is) a few months ago: http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...mp;#entry416148
  11. Its going to be a long transfer window, when it actually opens!
  12. Well it seems fairly common knowledge Woodgate wanted to get away from the North East so thats no surprise. Looks like we set a target for Modric and stuck to it. Its a huge gamble so I am glad we didn't just keep going. Will be interesting to see what happens in the summer. I don't think they should be judged until the end of the summer. When they have had a full "proper" transfer window to work in.
  13. I bet Liverpool fans are glad they have Torres Sure they wouldn't be if it meant up them ending up like Leeds. No that I can see that happening but I don't think we could have carried on the way we were under Shepherd.
  14. eer........Woodgate, Bellamy, Owen, Robert, Milner, Jeanarse, Cort, Viana, Martins......... even flops like Luque and Boumsong, prove differently. Knew you wouldn't get it though Shame you advocat backing their manager for EVERY player he wants then slate them for "overspending". Don't expect you won't see your hypocrisy either, see Jon I accept they have made mistakes but have never criticised them for "overspending" because I hold the view that they should back their managers to the utmost that they can. If players are turning us down because others are offering more money, the penny will soon drop, not that you would admit it. Quite ironic really. Yes we did sign the players mentioned, so we missed out on Modric I am fairly certain we will sign someone else instead. Remember we got Bellamy, Robert and Luque (maybe even Owen) because we missed out on our first choices. Don't let that stop you though
  15. Boyle is hilarious but he has even repeated the same jokes in a series of MTW.
  16. Boa Morte, Distin, Anelka, Kleberson etc etc... Obviously not all bad but surely a "good board" will always back their manager
  17. There is taking risks and there is running the club further and further into debt. Wonder if Leeds fans are glad that Ridsdale took so many risks.
  18. I seem to remember the old board not signing players because they wouldn't meet the asking price or fannied about trying to get players on the cheap anyway.
  19. Would be very surprised if he doesn't mention his Stevenage gig, was an absolute shambles of a venue for someone of his celebrity.
  20. We were in a shit state before so that means its ok? If Shepherd and Co had stayed here I would have been really worried about our future, more and more money would have been thrown at the problem but that doesn't always solve it, Leeds being the prime example. Never mind though, the new board are shit because they won't spend whatever other clubs ask for their players even if they think its a big gamble.
  21. Yep I remember the champions league, that was the competition we were in years ago wasn't it? I also remember Souness spending what? £50m? That worked out well, thankfully the club was left in a really good state when Ashley took over.
  22. Went to see Jimmy Carr last night, he was excellent.

    Twats

Someone just made the same genius parking choice outside my house. Thankfully it was only there for about an hour. There is actually plenty of space outside the house they went to so fuck knows why they decided to park there! Twats!
  24. chose Spurs because they are in London, in europe, or pay the going rate. Any of these or a combination of all 3 This is often the way and why we must always pay over the odds (and often get stung with a player on high wages who wont leave). Players want a number of things (often, not always). a. CL Football b. Bright lights of London c. Uefa football d. Money As we can't offer any of a, b, or c at the moment we need to offer enough of d to make up for it. Just depends how badly the player values abc over d or of course if another club offering abc is in for him. This is the reality. I think we need to get used to the fact that we wont be attracting the big players until we push up the table. However, if we can find some young players who have the potential to become bigger players then even better. you're preaching to the converted mate. The prudency stance has been advocated in the past, lets see how many players we lose before the penny drops Like the previous board who just continued to spend, spend, spend and get themselves further into debt whilst appointing shite managers who got us less and less for our money. Sounds like a sound investment to me. Not like you to slate the new board though.....
