Christ, the standard of top league Scottish football must have changed a fair bit since I lived up there in the mid 90s, they had Larsson, Laudrup and Gazza there then and it was still fairly shite overall. Celtic and Rangers were the only half decent teams at the time and I can't imagine that's changed much, they had an easy time of it because the rest of the teams seemed to be equivalent to our old third division, old second division at best.

Why?

I'm in two minds about Beckford, all the Leeds fans I've spoken to have said he's only really been any good in their current league and didn't get off the bench much when they were in the Championship. That said he was younger then, I just question how much of a star he thinks he is as to how much effort he'd put in and whether he could cut it at a higher level. If the standard of football drops as much between the Championship and league one as it does in comparison between the Prem and the Championship then he may struggle (though I guess that can happen to anyone working their way up the leagues).
